“Had a great experience at Mesón Criollo in Ridgefield Park. This is the kind of place that really gives you that authentic, home-cooked Dominican food experience. The portions are generous, the food is flavorful, and there’s a great variety of traditional dishes to choose from.

I really liked seeing all the different options, from mofongo and empanadas to sancocho, different rice dishes, meats, seafood, and Dominican breakfast favorites. Everything has that comforting, homemade feel that makes you want to come back and try something different next time.

The owner was also a pleasure to talk to. I really enjoyed our conversation, and you can tell there’s genuine pride in the food and in the restaurant.

Overall, Mesón Criollo is a great local spot in Ridgefield Park for authentic Dominican and Latin American food. Great portions, traditional flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out!“

“Recently went and although the food and waiter staff were great, we were expecting what we seen on here. There was no performances. An empty space. Apparently there's a 2 hr gap between brunch and dinner. The booking site allowed for a 4pm reservation. When we arrived we were accommodated but looked at funny. We found out that brunch had ended at 3pm. I was really hoping for the full experience I seen here and paid alot and didn't get it.“

“Came here on a date night with the wife who is Uruguayan. The provolone was a fantastic starter, reminded me of the one I had during my last visit to Uruguay. In my wife’s 2+ decades in the states I’ve never heard her rant and rave over a chivito the way she did theirs. She said and I quote “this is the best chivito she’s had since being in the USA,” so that should tell you something. I had the Uruguayan Ribeye and I left just the cutting board it came on, nothing was safe. I was hesitant about the Duck fat potatoes because it’s not something I haven’t tried, but they were perfect. The ribeye was to die for, I wanted more. Dessert was just as good too. My wife loved the flan, and I’ll take her word because all flan is bad to me. The Alfajor was so damn good. It was different than the traditional one I’m used to eating, but fantastic nonetheless. We will definitely be returning, and telling everyone we know to travel to Brooklyn to give this place a try.“

Saltenas were rich, juicy, and hearty (start at one end) and the Sopa de Mani is not at all what I expected peanut soup to taste like. think of Rich complex New England clam chowder without the clams. really no peanutty taste at all. the owner was wonderful as well“

“My wife and I came here for dinner tonight, and we had an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were just as impressive, and the atmosphere had such a great vibe.

I had the Caipirinha, and my wife ordered the Passion Fruit Lychee Martini—both were fantastic and made perfectly.

The highlight of our visit was our bartender, Ricardo. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. He took the time to explain the menu, gave great recommendations, and his service really elevated the entire experience.

“I absolutely love this place. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, their food is incredible and there’s something for the whole family. I go very often when the work week gets crazy and there isn’t time to cook. Everything at Claudy’s is exceptional and taste better than a home cooked meal. I usually do take out family meal with a whole chicken and two sides. They have truly the most flavorful chicken, incredible chaufa, and I always get the yucca fries on the side. Their Aji empanadas are my go to and I love getting an 8 oz homemade green sauce. I cannot recommend enough!“

I ordered the Colombian breakfast with scrambled eggs, arepa, and fresh cheese, plus a cappuccino that was perfectly made. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The bakery case was full of tempting pastries, the staff was welcoming, and the cozy atmosphere made it easy to relax.“
