“I have been coming to this place now for over three years… Every time I have a guest over I ask them if they want to eat the best burger in town! Especially their signature OMG burger! Oh and their fries are spectacular! Their employees, their service, and everything else about this restaurant is amazing! They also have a delicious signature sauce. “Stopped here after church and was pleasantly surprised. The owner greeted us and sat us immediately. You can genuinely see his care and pride in the restaurant. The service was outstanding. Our daughter was the only child there but they all fussed over her. We really appreciated that. They also made menu modifications for her with no issues. We all loved our food. Portions were plenty and we all brought home some leftovers. Oh and get the beets if you are a beet person. They were fantastic!“

“Wow. The Black River Barn has outdone themselves again. What I remember growing up is an older pub feel with ok food, that has changed. It's now the most reasonably priced, delicious, kid and adult friendly food in a good part of Northern NJ. The atmosphere is palpable and full of life. Everyone loves their service, food, and drinks along with the prices. Can't say enough good about a restaurant I once wrote off as an older crowd. If you haven't visited in a while, give it another chance and they WILL impress you.“

“My husband and I share some seafood. We ordered jumbo shrimp, oysters on the half shell and fried calamari. It was delicious and so fresh. The staff was so polite and attentive. I recommend this beautiful restaurant.“

“It was a Thursday evening and we sat in the bar. We ordered off of the Chefs Tasting menu. We both ordered a salad and had the salmon entree which was deliciously perfect. Then we got to order a dessert because all the were included in the 29.99 price! It was excellent. We also had wine with our dinner.“

“Lots of pizza places to choose from in Long Valley, but this is our go-to. Love their pizza! And staff so friendly. For the 3rd year in a row, they let the middle school play have their cast party there. The kids run around on the grass and pizza and drink soda. Pizza has long been consumed, but they let us stay and celebrate and eat cake long after they have closed. Very supportive of kids and the community. I'm happy to recommend them!“

“Stopped by with another couple for drinks after dinner elsewhere. Nice bar and pleasant atmosphere. Bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. Although I only had a Sambuco Black, it was served appropriately with three coffee beans. Would stop by this bar again. Maybe even do dinner here next time.“

“I made a reservation for an adult party of 20 for 4 lanes. I didn't have headcount until much closer to the day and they were very flexible. It was easy to get in contact with someone from the booking department too. The adult party came with 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental, large cheese pizzas for each lane, 1 drink ticket per guest, $5 game card per guest, unlimited soft drinks, and a cake! It came out to about $42 pp, and everyone had a great time! It was not much more to book the party instead of just having everyone rent shoes and book the lanes individually. And it is discounted if you pay in cash! Thanks for making my birthday special!“

“We have eaten there several times and it is always delicious. We want to give special appreciation to Rachel, your manager, for her special caring and sensitivity to our needs. In today's world, where one struggles, especially if old like we are, to speak to a live human being, when you are able to converse with a person who is actually listening to what you said, this is rare. Add to that delicious fresh food and you have a winner. Tonight we had fresh large shrimps with a most delicious home made cocktail sauce. Fresh crab cakes with a fabulous remoulade, and a chocolate mousse to die for as dessert. We ordered too much and have to save some for tomorrow. We live in town, and are happy to see the names of so many out of town visitors appreciate Chesapeake Tavern.“
