The only thing bad is that they are 45 minutes from me. I wish there was one closer to where I live. I would be going more often. I'm hoping one day they will become a franchise. “I enjoy this coffee shop. The environment is great. Their drinks are phenomenally better than Starbucks. It's not as noisy as other coffee shops in the area. The sunlight is great in the library room.

The only downside is that one of the male baristas is not very friendly and he looks annoyed when you order a drink. He has consistently tried to close the shop 15-30 minutes early. He shuts down and cleans the machines before the end of shift so if you arrive like 15-20 minutes before closing time you might not be able to buy the drink you drove 20 minutes to get. I completely understand wanting to be efficient and needing to leave but it's inconvenient when you've driven 20 minutes across town for a to go drink based on the hours posted. He has also turned down other people so I'm not the only one with this experience.

I've been several times and female baristas are extremely friendly. Otherwise it was a 5 star experience. I just always hope I don't get the grumpy barista. It seems like I usually run into him though.

Parking: Sometimes the parking lot is full and it's hard to find a space due to the other businesses in complex.“

The bacon side is way too small (two skinny slices). The avocado toast has significantly decreased in size but at the same price point, and it's often more cream cheese than avocado most times. “We stopped by this café for a Saturday morning breakfast. The exterior was charming, which drew us in. Parking is street-only, so it can be tricky on busier days, but we lucked out.

I ordered a cortado—decent, nothing remarkable. I went with the avocado toast, which they’re apparently known for. It was as minimalist as it gets: a slice of ciabatta, olive oil, a generous amount of fresh avocado, salt, and pepper. No frills, but solid and satisfying. My friend had a multigrain croissant with sausage and egg—basic and hearty.

The café is mostly self-service, and while the vibe was relaxed, the service was quite slow. We even cleared our own table from the previous guests. It seemed a bit understaffed, but the food was fresh and filling. A cute local spot, though don’t expect speed or polish.“

My only complaint here: the surroundings the environment is run down and looks dirty ...hardly appealing to new residents or potential customers coming thru the neighborhood would be easily turned off by the way the atmosphere is kept and the lack of nicely kept landscaping - esthetically investing in A major overhaul and some system of cleanliness of the drive thru area would be extremely helpful and ideal. If you go elsewhere you find this to be less an issue. “Over a month ago while on a day trip to Upper Montclair with friends, I spied an artisanal chocolatier. Inside were bars, confections, hot chocolate and bark. I bought three bars for each of my friends. For myself, I took a Dominican Republic bar of organic single origin 66% and a packet of orangettes. I decided to eat both in Pune. The bar was enjoyed with every bite. The chocolate was smooth, non acidic and imparted a tasty finish. The orangettes I regrigerated due to the hot weather and have been eating and savoring each morsel slowly. Both my friends enjoyed their bars. The lady helping us was informative and gave us samples. When I return home, I plan to make another visit as it's far nicer than buying it online.“

My partner and I first started visiting Local in 2021, and it's been our go-to since. Despite having four coffee shops closer to home, none of them match the quality of Local. That's why it's become part of our daily routine. We can always count on them to get it right. Plus, we've become friendly with the owners and baristas. Everyone there is professional and genuinely kind and caring.

Known for their warm and personal service, Local offers the best coffee and espresso in the Montclair area. Their menu is thoughtfully curated, featuring delicious seasonal drinks without overwhelming choices. My personal favorite? A perfectly crafted cappuccino, the perfect start to my mornings.

Though it's a small shop, there's plenty of seating both inside and outdoors. It's always a good sign when there are regulars hanging out, chatting or working. Somehow there is always plenty of room for all to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere. It's the perfect spot to catch up with old friends or make new ones :)

“It was my first time there, and the lady who identified herself as the owner (Kelly) was very pleasant and helpful. She took her time explaining the drinks and their ingredients to me. I left there with 3 orders??‍♀️. The drinks were so good. Directions from Google were confusing. If you know the area, Highland Bubble Tea is on the opposite end of the bridge where Jersey Boys Pizza is located.
It can be tricky if you don't know the area. It's almost across from the new Performing Arts Center in Avenel! So, if you're looking at the PAC from Avenel St., in Avenel, Highland Bubble Tea is on your left side, across the street b4 going down the bridge. Lots of drinks and tasty snacks to enjoy. I didn't give it 5 stars because of the parking and the difficulty in finding it. Enjoy!!!“

The owner made my drink a month or so ago & gave me the wrong bubbles I asked for regular and she ended up giving me brown sugar and said can I come back the next day she will give me a free one lol long story short she wasn’t there the next day because I bring my daughter to this location and she was too lazy to fix my drink the day she messed it up. I get she was overwhelmed by working alone and having a lot of people ordering but she has to do better as an OWNER! I have a business myself and it’s a lot of things I do not do because you have to be professional.“
