“Came here Sunday to celebrate my wife’s birthday as it was a central location between us and my in laws. We stared with the sausage and long hot appetizer with the most amazing sauce accompanied with homemade, thick cut potato chips (PHENOMENAL). We couldn’t decide between pizza or burgers so we tried both! The burger was the best I have had in a long time. The bun to burger ratio was a perfect, each of the topping combinations sounded better than the next, great quality beef and fresh brioche buns made for a mouthwatering burger. We tried one of their pizzas on special which was a square pie, cooked perfectly and topped with the perfect mix of pepperoni, cherry peppers, ricotta and hot honey. The crust was light but substantial enough to hold up to the toppings. The beer list was plentiful and offered anything from stouts to IPAs and anything in between, even showcasing some local beers. We will definitely return to try more beers and other menu options as all other dishes being served around us looked phenomenal. 100% recommend!“

“I’m hesitant to even write a review because I consider this place a true hidden gem! With so many options in the area I find myself forgetting about Turtle & Wolf until after my recent visit it sprang to the top of my list!I went for a birthday celebration and my friends and I shared a bunch of dishes. Everything was so well executed, the portions were generous and we just had such a lovely evening. Cannot pass on this adorable BYOB.“

“My wife and I walked into LK for the first time and the hostess greeted us and said "sit anywhere you'd like".....what restaurant ever says that, we were hooked right away. We both shared a caesar salad, it was delicious. My wife ordered pasta with sausage. That too was delicious, I had the pasta with cherry tomatoes and crab meat, absolutely delicious. When our order came, we immediately got fresh pepper and before I could even ask for fresh cheese, a gentleman was waiting behind me with the cheese. I mean, c'mon the place has a great food, great service and a nice chill atmosphere. I think we just found our go-to restaurant.“

“We had early reservations tonight and we were the first diners. When we walked in the waitress told us that we had to be done in 90 minutes. My wife and I are fairly quick eaters. But when I hear something like that it can suck the enjoyment out of the dining experience.Putting that aside, we had great appetizers and main dishes. The deserts were not on par with the previous two courses.We have eaten at Bloom several times since the summer time and had enjoyed it. I don’t think that we will be rushing back.“

“I've been looking for a local, full service coffee shop that roasts their own beans, sells coffee/espresso, as well as offers breakfast and lunch.**This IS that place**I couldn't tell from their website, but the posts I saw on insta showed that they serve food, and I'm happy to report that it tastes as good as it looks!Very friendly staff and accommodating. Although it's currently the middle of December, I wanted a macchiato over ice, which wasn't on their menu, but when I asked they happily said 'of course'.Seems like I'm going to have to sign up for their points system because I can tell I'm going to be back here a whole lot more.I'm particularly interested in sampling their beans, just wish i didn't have to buy an entire bag of beans. Why don't these local roasters sell sample packs, allowing you to still purchase a pound of beans, but separated into small batches with samples of each bean type? This would allow me to quickly figure out which bean I want to try without having to buy a single large bag and take a month to go through coffee I don't really like before trying the next type . . . Or maybe i should start roasting my own beans and do this method . . .Anyways, I really like the space they have, they've really made the most of it, very cozy and inviting.Can't wait to go back“

“I have to say I really enjoy The Thirsty Turtle. Although it's a sports bar and you think it might just be cool to watch a game, the food and staff are excellent and professional. We went the other night and met friends for dinner and it was a fantastic experience! The waiter, (I don't remember his name), but he memorized our order and everything came out perfect! We had appetizers, burgers, beer & drinks, and enjoyed everything we ate and drank. I also have to call out Manny who went above and beyond in helping me. “I was impressed with this restaurant, we enjoyed the food as well as the ambiance and service. I came for a business lunch. Ate inside the porch area that was enclosed. I thought the service was very good in terms of attentiveness. The food we got was flat bread pizza for appetizer, pepperoni with hot honey was delicious. The burger tasted great cooked perfectly when I ordered a medium, presentation was nice as I ordered a salad instead of French fries. Most importantly they had Aqua Pana for water. I did think the prices were a bit inflated and expensive however their service made up for it.“

“New contemporary restaurant with great menu. I stopped in for lunch and had a really good chicken sandwich. Chicken cutlet was fresh, juicy and crispy on a toasted pita with crispy prosciutto , lettuce and tomato and mozzarella. French fries were also fresh and crispy. Also tried an eggplant on focaccia with roasted red peppers and was also very delicious. Everything on the menu sounds good and I might have to go back for the hanger steak. Lots of seating , big bar , lots of TVs. I was there on a Saturday and they only had one waitress waiting on like 4 tables and 6 people at the bar which was fine because we weren’t in a hurry but I could see it getting crazy.“

“The Carriage House Restaurant is literally steps from the PaperMill Playhouse. Great to stop in prior to a performance. The atmosphere is best described as "cozy and rustic". I've stopped in about 2-3 times for drinks and appetizers. The food has always been very tasty. Little on the pricey side. On a positive note, you're only a few steps away from the theater. As of now, I've had Chicken Sausage Appetizers and a Steak Quesadilla. Nice wine and cocktail list. We've enjoyed their wine and cocktails on a previous visit. In December '23, I had an issue making reservations. Left two telephone messages and never received a call back. I couldn't even make a reservation on Opentable or Resy. We stopped in and informed the hostess of the issue. Anyway, we ended up eating at the bar. The Carriage House Restaurant does offer Cabaret and Murder Mystery shows.“

“Let me start off by saying I grew up in Philadelphia and ate cheesesteaks regularly ever since I was quite young. I know these folks here are known for their “best of NJ” Taylor Ham ;not pork roll ( almost forgot where I was) and cheese. I’ve had it here before and I do believe it is incredible and stands up to the claims. However… the cheesesteak they make here may not be getting enough love. “I like Maggie’s now. They’ve updated the menu. I got the ginger sesame orange salad it was delicious. Next time I won’t get shrimp on it because it was too big. I thought it would be popcorn shrimp. I do like the option of adding protein like chicken. The place is always packed and very loud though. Don’t get the fish and chips, not great. Probably better for takeout.Dietary restrictions: They make changes to your order if you request it.“

“THIS PLACE IS PHENOMENAL!!!!The other day I went to, Village Street Eatery, for breakfast. It was absolutely amazing! I got their Corn Beef Hash Breakfast Wrap & on a separate occasion I got their Taylor Ham, Egg, & Cheese with extra meat and three eggs. Both items were a real treat! Their Taylor Ham, Egg, & Cheese was really really tasty, and the Taylor Ham had a wonderful crisp to it accompanied by a lovely crunch around around the edges. The best of the two was the Corn Beef Hash Breakfast Wrap! The Corn Beef was extremely flavorful and the potatoes they added to the wrap were seasoned and tender. The Corn Beef Hash Breakfast wrap is an exemplary to-go breakfast item. I thoroughly enjoyed both! The staff is really kind, and the customer service was amazing. The ambiance is impeccable as well too, makes you want to sit down and enjoy your breakfast. I would HIGHLY recommend, Village Street Eatery, to anyone in the Maplewood area. Their Corn Beef Hash Breakfast Wrap is a must try!“

“Overall our brunch was very good with a couple of minor issues. The banquettes need cleaning, the juices in the cocktails weren't shaken thus making the drinks watery and not full flavored. I sent mine back and the waiter brought me another quickly. The food was good. We will come back for dinner in the future.“

There are no waiters, tables or chairs, just a big dance floor near the stage and a bar so everybody was dancing and having fun. There was a $8 cover charge and the price of the drinks were reasonable. Staff was friendly and it was easy and quick to get drinks.“

I think she said her name was Oré. She was super sweet and held it down, but I felt bad she had to do all that. Overall, it was a nice casual spot to grab a bite. “J&M Grill makes delicious burgers and soups! They are always so fresh and they take the time to make the burger the way you like it. The soups and chili in the winter are so good to warm you up! The staff is super nice and super quick service!“

The place and view are spectacular, the food is outrageous, and Gianna who booked us and Jose the banquet manager were so accommodating and flexible. “We joined some family* here for lunch today. The bldg and the grounds were lovely looking. The inside has both banquet rooms for private events as well as a family feel bar and dining area. We were seated right away and the server was very prompt and friendly. Menu although not that large had a good variety. From appetizers and soups to full on entrees there was plenty to choose from. They had several specials to offer today. They are known for the burgers apparently. My aunt and husband both had the Swiss Mountain Burger. Both enjoyed them. Although the cooking between them was a bit different. My husband's was a bit pink IMO but he likes rare so didn't really care. My daughter enjoyed the penne and meatballs from the dedicated kids menu. It came with a drink and dessert. The portion was hearty and she loved the meatball! Dinner rolls on the table were amazing. Mini chibatta style that were crusty in the outside and soft and chewy in the inside. My uncle had the chicken cashew salad. Large salad although looked like only iceberg as the base. Overall filled with plenty of toppings. I enjoyed one of the salmon specials for today. I chose the grilled lemon pepper salmon. All entrees like this are served with either rice or potato and veggies. I had mashed which were very creamy and flavorful. The salmon had good flavor but IMO was cooked just a little too long. It was flaky but the edges seemed a little dry. Overall I'd recommend it but suggest asking for a medium cook. They offered a dessert menu although everyone was full and decided on just some specialty coffee. Most dishes were in the $15-25 range. Overall I'd recommend giving it a try. *Sorry for the lack of pics we were so excited to see our out of town family that I totally forgot!“

“The best place for lunch near the Rutgers-Newark campus on weekdays! The restaurant has a great cause and serves delicious three-course meals for only $12. The three courses are appetizer (choice between salad and soup), main (two different protein options and one vegetarian option), and dessert (choice between a bakery item and fruit). I have been to the restaurant several times since opening a few years ago, and the food has been excellent every time that I have been there. The only minor drawback is that the location is only open for weekday lunch between 11:30 am and 2 pm.“

The oysters (1/2 price on Tuesday) were fresh and the freshly grated horseradish and the frozen mignionette were perfect accompaniments. The spicy cannoli tuna appetizers were outstanding. “Service was great. Polite and prompt. Bread served to the table and drinks promptly served. I had a simple dish of Mezzo Rigatoni Vodka and it was very good. Had cannoli for dessert and it was fantastic. I would recommend and return to try other menu items.“

“The food was very good. I order a burger and fries and the hat kitchen sampler which was very very good. I recommend the latter with what ever you order. The crowd was mixed age and very friendly. The bar maid could have been a little more attentive to my order request as that was my first time there, you know what they say about first impressions. The music was on point. There's also two pool tables and a dart board for your pleasure. An for those who partake there are hookah pipes available too.Suggestion to the owner place a message on the answering machine stating time and days of operation. I almost didn't go because no one answered the phone as I'm not from the neighborhood but I took a chance glad I did. “Very nice atmosphere. We had steak tacos. Not the taste and flavoring I’m used to so I probably won’t get them again. The meat was more on the chewy side and not super soft But they were ok. This is definitely a place to enjoy good music and great drinks. Our circle of family and friends really did enjoy the food and drinks.
