“We stopped in for breakfast and SUPER glad we did! Little hole in the wall that makes DELICIOUS red and green chili to go over your eggs, potatoes and refried beans. Huge yummy flour tortillas. \nReasonable prices. Nice gentleman took our order and then cooked it. Owner?\nYou place your order at register and then go grab it from the window-like I said hole in the wall and well worth the stop.“

“I ate my green chile cheeseburger so fast that I forgot to take a picture but it was really good. Came out piping hot as well as the fries even though we showed up 15 mins before they closed and were the last to order. A very well executed green chile cheeseburger. $12.95 without tax for the burger + fries. A bit expensive but that’s eating out in 2024. I’ll be back!“

“I drive up not knowing what I wanted to eat. The man suggested the quesabirria tacos. I'm glad I ordered them. They are freaking delicious!!
Pictured with 3 tacos but it comes with 4. Highly recommend! They reheat well and hold together. A good choice to take home and eat comfortably. just don't tip the box!! You'll spill all the cónsume/jugo.“

“I recently visited Parasol from Pojuaque and was given the worst tamales they've ever produced (raw). I proceeded to go to the OG in Spaña. Not only did they make it right, but the tamales are great. They surpassed my expectations and stand strong as a staple in a town that absolutely needs them. They are always great and I will continue to be a loyal customer and will gladly recommend their food to everyone.“

“La Fonda del Sol catered my father’s memorial service last weekend; the food was delicious and the service fantastic. We had the green chili enchiladas and taquiza with beans and rice. We highly recommend La Fonda del Sol’s food and service for events.“

“The food was amazing! We went here specifically because I love Indian Tacos and other local restaurants -like Viola’s in Los Alamos- only make them on certain days. I’m so glad the Indian Tacos brought us in. They were the BEST. The salsa is not white girl friendly 🥵 (hot hot hot) but it is flavorful and fresh. If you’re traveling through, like us, this stop is truly worth planning your drive around. Thank you Jesus for providing great food and fast service.“

“Old fashioned drive-in style burger joint. IMO, they have the best burgers in town. Their other menu items are good as well. Take note that this is a cash only drive-in before you pull into order. The location isn't the best to get to, but it is definitely worth the stop for lunch.“

“Went and got some brunch and it was great. Lot better than Taco Bell IMO. The ramen birria is delicious. Definitely coming more often. The service was great. The restaurant was probably one of the most cleanest restaurants I’ve seen in Espanola.“

“The place is modest in decor and feel which is enduring to me because the food is the primary star of this place. A feel good and welcoming place that delivers great food at really great prices.
After spending a Sunday at the feast day celebration in Jicarilla Apache Nation, we had arrived late in Hernandez, NM, needing to stop for gas. My friend suggested we dine at Socorro's Restaurant, having researched open eateries on Google Maps. Upon arrival, we were delighted to find the place bustling with cars bearing New Mexico license plates, a promising sign of a great dining experience.
Perusing the menu, we discovered the fascinating story of Socorro's Restaurant, owned by Socorro Herrera, who transitioned from singer to restaurant owner. With endearing self-deprecation, she acknowledged her initial lack of culinary knowledge and the skepticism of locals regarding her cooking abilities. I found her story and attitude captivating and was eager to sample her cuisine. My expectations were soon surpassed.
Both of us were famished, so we opted for combination plates, hers with red chile and mine with the spicier green chile. Our table was graced with ginormous plates of aromatic and flavorful goodness, accompanied by separate servings of sopapillas, a taco, and distinct salsas.
While the combination dishes were excellent, the highlight for me was the beans. They were evidently fresh and cooked to a rich crémeux textured perfection, reminiscent of ambrosia. My dining companion and I agreed that the beans were truly exceptional. Having family members who owned Spanish restaurants and being familiar with Northern New Mexican cuisine, I judge establishments based on three key factors: beans, Spanish rice, and sopapillas or tortillas. Chile is an entirely distinct category, influenced by my upbringing on a chile farm in my youth.
Based on these criteria, I would rate Socorro's Restaurant as follows: the beans were outstanding, the green chile was flavorful and excellent, the Spanish rice was delightful, and the sopapillas (a generous four of them!) were also exceptional. I rank this restaurant among the best in the area, and the prices are reasonable considering the quantity and quality of food received. The use of disposable paper drink cups and cutlery is practical given their commitment to providing quality food at affordable prices.
As stated in the beginning of my review the decor is modest and unpretentious, but this is inconsequential as the food takes center stage. Socorro's Restaurant is a welcoming and convivial space that consistently delivers exceptional cuisine at remarkable prices.“

“Hands down this is the best New Mexican restaurant. Don't come here and order a burger, go to a burger joint. My personal favorite is the tostada's. Super delicious. Not to say everything is fantastic. The bowl of menudo, the taco's, burritos and the chilli is the best. 🔥“
