We've rounded up Sunland Park's top Mexican spots for you to try.
“Best flautas of the Westside in Sunland Park, New Mexico. They also got burgers & fries. The other day I had them make me a Monster torta with colitas de pavo, hot dog franks, ham, meat, bacon, and cheese. It was pretty damn good ?... ???“
“Bakery? I walked in and there were only two(Yes Two) cookies left in the display cabinet! Fortunate for me, I was in looking for burritos. When I walked in there were two guys that were purchasing burritos for a work crew. I ordered 1 breakfast burrito, a red and a green burrito; They were FANTASTIC! Ya can't go wrong eating here, unless your wanting some bakery goods.“
“What a vibe! Soft music with eye pleasing dining area with natural light to start your day off right. We started with the Stanton house breakfast which is eggs your style with bacon or sausage, pancakes or toast, & orange juice or coffee. What a delish experience. We didn’t leave anything on our plates.“
“My husband and I just took a trip to El Paso and went to several restaurants in town, including Conico Cocina. This was by far our favorite meal during our trip. We had a few of the appetizers and one of the entrees and shared. Everything was delicious! I also really enjoyed their Sangria. Thanks again for the fantastic service and wonderful food. We will definitely come back next time we are in town!“
“I walked in with a party of twelve on a lively night. Despite it being near closing time, the hospitality was outstanding. Endless chips, ordering recommendations, drink refills at the right times — on top of everything, all the food was delicious and at a great price.Great find!“
“Although the parking is extremely limited I beg you to disregard that and enter this fabulous space. The decor reminds me of a quiet bistro. No music, no TVs! Upon entering you see the open kitchen at the far end. The decor is minimalist but still lovely. The bathroom is pristine! I just could not decide what I wanted to order so I chose the Carrot/Ginger Soup and Red Bell Pepper Tartare. Once my food started arriving I knew this was a restaurant I would be visiting often, at least to give everything on the menu a go. I rarely take photos of my food but these menu items were so spectacularly perfect I could not help taking the photos so I could continue to enjoy thinking about what I ate. Onto my meal: The Carrot/Ginger was wonderful. Lush and smooth it was beautifully prepared. It is the only soup on the menu but it was a stand out. Next let me tell you about the tartare: I have enjoyed many tartares in my time, be it steak, salmon or numerous other ingredients but I had never had a vegetable tartare. This was wonderfully presented and scooping up mouthfuls with the crispy lavash was great. Very flavorful. Lastly, I generally do not order sweets because as the name suggests they are sweet. The Canelé de Bordeaux was the perfect little bite. Not overly sweet but again a beautiful little treat. We should gather together, hire a bus and come here to relax, eat wonderfully prepared and presented food and just discuss all we are eating! Who's with me on this?“
“First time here and the flautas were amazing! I had the 6 mixed... 2 Chile w/ cheese, 2 deshebrada and 2 shrimp...must say the chile w/cheese were a nice surprise and the deshebrada were very good as well... I did like the shrimp too, but there just didn't seem to be enough shrimp... the real highlight of this place, tho, is the salsa bar where you get to pick what you want on your flautas and how much of it! Great spot and definitely recommend! I'll be back for sure!“
“It isn’t exactly like Taqueria Ajiji in Juarez, but very comparable! The Pastor with pineapple and cheese was amazing and honestly good prices for now a days. I’d recommend these Tacos instead of most places in El Paso, but not in JuarezThe service left a lot to be desired “
“Best burger value overall downtown, bar none. If two of you are looking for a light lunch, the burgers are big enough to split. This place has greatly improved since opening. The menu has a taste for any appetite. Very crowded at meal time, says it all.“
“"Historic" location, great food, great staff. Excellent tacos, put on the green sauce. The red sauce on the enchiladas is the best. Looked a bit creepy on the outside and there were biker warnings on the door.Wheelchair accessibility: None. Unpaved driveway, rough steps to enter. My wheelchair bound wife waited outside for take out.“
“Wowww y wowwwDelicious. Good prices, great service and atmosphere as well.Everything is fresh and I’m definitely coming backWe had classic churros (Nutella and Strawberry) it was so good that I even forgot to take a pic of our churros.Need to go back and take that picThank you for having us :D“
“Food was great I had the burger, chips and salsa was amazing. Service was super fast that may have been to the restaurant being empty, but I believe they have overall fast service. Staff was super helpful and engaging. I will definitely visit again when I’m in town.“
“Kiki's is always great, although this particular visit when we arrived they told us it was a 30 to 40 minute wait so we left and went to Ay Carumba. My out of town guest was disappointed because he was really looking forward to eating there. But we were on a short time limit and we could not wait for seating.“
“Love coming to Chilabox for a nice lunch in the peaceful courtyard out front. Fast, great chilaquiles - I recommend the Chipotle flavor - at a good price in a super welcoming environment. And you have to appreciate a local business breathing some life into union Plaza!“
“It was me and my husband's first time here, and it certainly won't be our last. Excellent, fast, friendly, and efficient service. I tried the combo #3 with the taco, chili verde, and enchilada. It was DELICIOUS. Best chili verde I've ever had. My husband tried the flautas and the chorizo with potatoes and he enjoyed them. Both plates had a side of rice, beans, and lettuce. My husband and I usually skip beans, but the beans tasted amazing.Nothing was left on our plates when we were through. The waitress suggested the melon agua fresca, one sip, and I was taken back to my childhood. The tables were very clean, the bathroom was clean, and even the floors were clean. Five stars all around. Looking forward to coming back with the rest of my family!“
“I had not been here since retiring from work over 5 years ago, my loss. Today 7/26/23 I drove in from the George Dieter area for a take out order. I’ve never seen such care and pride from any restaurant, in getting an order boxed and ready to take home (I order take out very often from various places). And of course the food and serving size…amazing as always. Thank you (Mr Owner) sir, for the all-aroundexcellence! Well worth the drive, see you again soon! FC“
“Love this place for menudo! I been coming here for awhile and the staff is so nice \\u0026 they have great prices for their foods/products. They did advise they will be moving to 512 San Marcial in a month so keep that in mind. (Avisaron que van a mover a 512 San Marcial en un mes*)“
“They just moved into a new building because they outgrew their old location. I had Llevos Rancheros, which was very good. The chili was excellent. Coffee was ok (I'm very picky about my coffee). The refried beans were ok but not great. They have their own parking lot and there was a parking lot guide person : I'm not sure if this is normal. Pricing was very reasonable.Overall, it's a good place to try out.Parking: The parking lot is not huge but adequate. Street parking is also available.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible with wheelchairs.“
“Stopped in for a late lunch after a long travel day. Visiting the town I was born in! Was greeted promptly and warmly. Struck up a friendly conversation and as soon as the owner realized we were there for the first time she offered a host of delicious salsas and took her time to explain each one. They were delicious! My wife ordered a smothered burrito (with beans, coleslaw, and shredded lettuce) and I had their red Chile enchiladas with Chile con carne with a over-easy fried egg. Again…it was awesome. Will definitely return and I highly recommend. You you’ll enjoy it …“
“Very lovely experience the staff is so friendly and will answer any questions you may have. We had made a reservation in advance for a dinner date. One thing the waiter shared with us that I believe is important to put out there is the avocado ice cream is all edible, the shell is made of chocolate! It complements the ice cream so well.Parking: They have plenty of parking. It is shared with a Don Carbon.“
“The food was solid, but didn't have as much flavor as I would hope from Mexican food. It was a pleasant place to eat (especially if you're a Dallas Cowboys fan) and the service was good. It did the job for an earlier breakfast as there were fewer options available.“
“Cafe Mayapan has some of the most delicious, authentic food I've had. I was super pleased with my order and the food was well worth it. What inspires my rating the most, though, is the cause it supports. As their website states: "When preparing menu items, we ask ourselves: what are the foods of our ancestors? What ingredients do those contain? Can any of those ingredients be sourced locally?” Cafe Mayapan is owned by La Mujer Obrera, an amazing organization dedicated to creating community and fighting for women's rights.“
“My aunt and uncle the twins and I, enjoy going to lunch. This time I wanted to try out a different Mexican Restaurant. My Aunt knew where to go. Chicken Enchiladas. All three of us ordered the same thing. The meal comes with Caldo de Rez. Great decision tia.“
“Martha is a sweetheart she will make you feel like home, the food taste like homemade food but the salsas are the best in town, simple and cozy, and Martha she is funny and cheerful, don’t be rude if you are expecting the food to be otherworldly, the food is 100 percent homemade Mexican food and Martha she will make sure you have a good experience, you won’t find someone liked her in El Paso, she will cheer you up so be kind ?“
“Always amazing breakfast!!! Our favorite is the green chilaquiles with over-easy eggs. Beans are made in-house. Tostadas are made in-house and so good! Their salsa is great! And hot. And always polite and sweet servers! I like them all ♡ By far our new favorite breakfast spot in the far west side!“
“Great little place off the beaten path with a really nice menu. Prices are a little high for the area, but the food is good and the serving sizes are huge!Service staff is very attentive and polite. Green Chile chicken enchiladas were delish!Bathrooms were a little ghetto, but no complaints overall. Decor is interesting and quite humorous. Fun family spot.“
“The food is very delicious, the barbecue burritos, egg and ham were very good, the orchata water was also very delicious, the only thing is that the place is very small and the day we went it was very full, but we could find where sit down to eat. But the service was very fast and good.“
“Wonderful service and outstanding TexMex. Portions are large and prices are great. We have never left this place hungry. Everything from the homemade taco shells to the hearty enchilada plates taste wonderful. Watch out for the homemade salsa, it packs a punch.“
“My son Luis was happy on his birthday this Saturday, THANK YOU for serving us so well, everyone in the restaurant was incredible, thank you very much, sometimes it is difficult for him to be comfortable somewhere (because of his ASD) but I really enjoyed his celebration.Kid-friendliness: It is a calm and safe environment.“
“We ate here for lunch after we tried a few other places that didn't work out. We don't speak Spanish, which made eating here interesting, but between translation apps and the staff's efforts to help us, we were able to order pretty confidently. Our waitress was friendly. Eating here felt like a very authentic experience. If sure our Mexican food was just like it would have been across the border. They gave us chips and a spicy green salsa, which tasted like it was made in house. I ordered a combination plate with a taco, flauta, gordita and an enchilada. They were all good, but I liked the enchilada the least; it was considerably smaller than im used to. It had the more mild red sauce; spicier green sauce was available. The rice and refried beans were also good. My wife got a quesadilla that was very good. Also she complained about it being too spicy, I liked it. In fact, if I had ordered that, I might have given this place 5 stars. So if you don't mind a little heat, order the quesadilla. I would eat here again; hopefully this review helps others find this place.“
“The food and service are amazing! I’d never had chilaquiles and they were so good! I had to give atmosphere less than stars…not bad but it’s a long counter and you watch them prepare so an old timey feel. They only accept cash but they tell you as you are greeted. Glad we got to try them on a Friday bc they are not open on weekends. Prices great too! And coffee was insanely good too!“
“Exceptional food, drink and service.....Definitely a place to frequent....If they had Simpatico beer, I'd rent a table and live there.Update: I live severalblocks away... but here it is after midnite... they say they're 'closed' but their "music" is rattling the windows.... I moved here and noticed the placed had burned.... I am starting to see why, now that they're 'open' again.....lack of consideration is equal to not doing business with.“
“The food quality is simply outstanding, exceeding my expectations every time. Their customer service is second to none, completely impressed with their professionalism. The ambiance here is always inviting and comfortable. The cozy atmosphere, soft lighting, and decor create the perfect setting for any occasion.“
“Great option for people who want to eat vegan while not sacrificing flavor. The nachos here are particularly great, have had them a couple times and they consistently hit.I'd say it's best to come sometime other than when we went just because it was sorta turning into a club (since it's in one). Only negative is that the setup for eating could probably be a bit better if you're taking it upstairs to the balcony, which is a big attraction. That said, this spot is well worth the visit no doubt“
“Haven't had the pleasure yet of visiting/sampling the flautas at this location. Traditionally when visiting family in ELP, we go to the traditional taquerias/flautas restaurants routinely. Regrettably over eating and gaining weight. But even though this location is small sort of out of the way it seems to have some tasty flautas. I'll definitely put it on my calendar when in ELP. Keep up the great work!!!“
“Food is excellent, everything about this place is really worth the long line and long service wait.. but it’s sooooooo worth it!! Been here several times now and I’ve always had the tacos. This time I had The Monster Burger ? IT IS SOOOOO GOOD! 10/10 meat is perfectly grilled , ham is very thick, bacon cooked to perfection. Fries are real fries. A little bit of salt and ketchup and they become “next level”Highly recommend this place. Total “hole in the wall” nothing fancy. It’s Perfect ?“
“I've been coming to this place since I was a kid, the food has always been super good and the salsas available are amazing. I will continue to visit for years to come. The one thing I have found sad to see is the food quality go down in recent years. The beans are all from the can and just heated up, the flautas too used to have more meat inside. I'm a loyal customer but with prices on the rise, I'd rather make my own at home sometimes given this lack of food quality.“
“(Translated by Google) Very good service, a lot of variety of appetizers, we ordered a chilindrina and a fruit cocktail. Both were very well served and very cheap, definitely the best restaurant for appetizers 1000/10!!???(Original)Muy buen servicio, mucha variedad de antojitos, pedimos una chilindrina y un cóctel de fruta. Los dos estaban muy bien servidos y muy económico, definitivamente el mejor restaurante para antojitos 1000/10!!???“
“I have tried many, many Mexican restaurants in El Paso and I like Lulu's best. I may not be Mexican, but I know Mexican food and have eaten it all over the country. The cheese enchiladas here are the best I've ever tasted because the sauce is so flavorful. I also like their chile rellenos, which aren't on the menu for some reason. They make a hot sauce that is exceptional; ask for it. It's funny that I looked all over El Paso for good Mexican food, but finally found the best less just one mile from my home. I wish they opened earlier, at least one or two days a week, so I could try breakfast there.“
“The only thing I have ever had here is the Menudo and it is definitely on point. They take pride in the quality of it. They have a drive-thru but they are so busy you might have to wait a while but trust me it is worth it. The staff is always friendly the portions are and the menudo is wonderful and stands out when every place in town has Menudo. The hunt for good Menudo can be fun and frustrating and led me to this wonderful place. Glad I found it. It is located in an old military Quonset hut and parking can definitely be tricky but be patient it is worth it.“
“4 stars for the food because i didn’t have enough meat for my tacos. I ordered the taco plate to go and they package the meat and tortillas separately. Could have been that i put too much meat in the first taco nonetheless staff was nice and friendly! The food tasted GOOD! Highly recommend!“
“Amazing restaurant!Had a variety of options and drinks.Everything I ordered was delicious and the vibe was unique. The service was fenomenal and quick. The manager Gabe was very attentive and provided exceptional customer service which made the experience even better.I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be returning!“
“Got some chilaquiles for lunch, they were pretty good. I had the green ones with Carne Asada and my daughter had the red ones with fried eggs. Everything was pretty tasty, and I appreciate that the to go boxes had the sauce on a separate container. That way they won't get soggy.Pretty tasty, might make it a Friday tradition“
“A small place that took good care of us on Monday night after we left a funeral. The waitresses took great care of us and made sure we didn't miss anything. We ordered a large order of tacos (11 orders of 8 tacos each order) and their famous boiled potatoes. Our local family from California and Kansas City, we thank you for serving us almost close to closing and for the great service of the two ladies and the cooks. No pictures.“
“The best tamales in town! All food there is delicious. Lines are long outside, BUT THE LINE GOES BY FAST… My husband can’t stand too long, BUT SECURITY BROUGHT HIM A CHAIR TO SIT ON, it went by quick. Thank you!Parking: People come and go, so there is always parking available. If I did not pick other foods, is because I haven’t had them yet. Thank you!“
“I love this place. Showed up on a Saturday less than 30 minutes before close. I ordered barbacoa with beans, and it was fresh, delicious, and tenderé without being greasy. So.Damn.Good. The lemonada was on point too. The ladies who work there are always very nice and they work very hard. Tortillas are rolled fresh to order.“
“One of my favorite places to come and eat. Good food, great prices. Tortilla soup is some of the best in the city. The daily lunch specials are well priced, and a lot of food for your money.Parking: Parking wasn't an issue. plenty of parking; its close to a corner so if push comes to shove park on Octavius.“
“This is a cozy little restaurant with great service and friendly staff. The food is great and very reasonably priced. We eat here very often and is our favorite place for burritos. The food isn't too spicy but they have been making it more spicy then they used to in the last few months. Hopefully they go back to the regular spice level they had a few months ago because most of my family doesnt eat super spicy food, that's the whole reason we come here and not the other burrito place down the street. There are definitely other plates that are not spicy and are very good.“
