“Stopped into this Cafe for the first time when i discovered my other favourite local cafe closed down :(I went with a bacon breakfast sandwich and let me tell you.. i am usually a pick eater and it comes with things i would usually leave aside. however i decided to try it as it was intended and i do NOT regret it. One of the best I’ve had here in dartmouth.I also got an iced latte, again, not my usual but it was delicious and creamy. The atmosphere is super welcoming and pleasant all the staff were smiling and it seemed they had a good flow going for how busy they were while I was there ! However, a bit small, it would be awesome if they had the space to expand !I also noticed they had a “Put it on a tab” for those who may not be able to afford a meal. A+ to you guys ! will definitely be back in the future !“
“Have you just landed in Halifax Airport? Or are you heading there feeling hungry? Tired of going to the same places and eager to discover somewhere new? This place is just right! A hidden gem, small, cozy, and charming. I recommend trying their delicious breakfast or specials. The customer service is fantastic. My pick is the Avocado Smash“
“One of my favourite iced lattes in the city, and the baked goods are always KILLER. the earl grey muffin is dreamy. They also have a day old bin that I utilize as a student on a budget! My only complaint is that I don't love the seating arrangement.“
“What a brilliant place to hang with friends, meet new people, and learn new board games! Amazing drinks and good snack food! Game masters are very helpful in teaching and recommending games. Service all around is perfect; very friendly and inclusive.“
“Thanks for my son's friend to let me know this bakery shop. Now this is a place where I go to order my cake for the occasions. Decent price and delicious cakes also other products. My favorite cake is the Ube cake which I love it so much. Also Ube & butter mamon slices in a bag I would highly recommend!?????“
“Today I stopped at this new restaurant as I was looking forward to hopefully enjoy something different for lunch. They truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is quaint, the people are so friendly (even met Mom), the price point very reasonable, the menu although small (which is very smart since they are brand new) had options that I cannot get anywhere else and it tasted absolutely amazing. I definitely will be returning regularly. Ohhh and all I could do was talk about my lunch all afternoon. This place will no doubt be a success.“
“We had the pleasure of eating at Bird’s Nest today, Chicken Club Sandwiches (and we have our usual cup of coffee everyday there too) The food is outstanding, based on fresh seasonal ingredients clearly put together by a chef that has a true passion for food! The service was fantastic as always, and their staff is so friendly, and they know our usual orders by now. Really recommend this Café to anyone - family, couples and business lunches, Bird’s Nest Cafe make everyone feel a part of them. Thank you Beatrix (Bonni) and Morne’ Botha“
“super accommodating in modifying any of their food to be vegan, without charging any extras.got a “breakfast sandwich” with kimchi guacamole, cucumber, greens and vegan aioli. so delicious, and loved that they cared enough to make sure it would be as good and filling as something non-vegan. awesome service and cozy space :)“
“Very nice place for lunch. We ordered the soup which was carrot and ginger, I really liked it it was full of flavor. I would have preferred without the small chunks of carrots so that it would have been creamier but I guess it’s just a personal choice. The kimchi sandwich was also very very nice. The first half I ordered was not hot, I guess I should have told them but was too hungry so it wasn’t as nice as I expected. I ordered it again and this it came nice and hot. The gingerbread cookie was super tasty. Staff is super nice.“
“First time finding this Cafe and I think I might have had the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The Cafe is beautifully decorated, the food looks delicious, and the employee/owner was very pleasant to talk to. Will certainly be back!“
“This place has fast service, awesome aesthetics, friendly staff and the best dirty chai latte I've had in the city easily. My wife also said the hot chocolate was REALLY good and she's picky with her hot chocolates. Highly recommend.“
“Tried this little gem for breakfast this morning. I had the avocado toast, hubby and child had smoked salmon and eggs, other child had egg Sammy. Everything was delicious! Great balance of flavours and presentation was lovely. Will definitely revisit( would have liked a table for 4 but ?♀️)“
“Nice place to climb. Even if you're not a pro, they would make you feel at home. Has a wide range of opening hours and also a coffee shop! You can store your clothes and shoes while practicing. It's also safe for kids (but they have to be supervised by an adult)“
“One of the best cafés in Halifax! Staff are so friendly and always go above and beyond. Their lattes come in tons of different flavours and shots. Their coffee is quite good too. My favourite items are the smoked salmon sandwich or the grilled cheese.“
“The best, sweetest most adorable little cafe in Halifax. It brings that otaku joy to my heart as well as my tummy. They make wonderful coffee and treats, and the staff are just as sweet! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try something different, delicious and cute!!!“
“Went this morning for brunch and had the Croissant sandwich and the Sweet and Savoury (pictured), the food the absolutely delicious, generous portions of Brie in the sandwich. However, my fiancée’s sandwich wasn’t as baked as mine and the Brie was still cold, hence the 4 stars for the food. The coffee was flavourful and well brewed. We each had a macaroon on the way out, they were some of the best we’ve had.“
“This cafe is a staple of the city - if the library cafe (rip Pavia) is crowded or you need more serious food for breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go. Car parking is a nightmare so walk or bike down here - hopefully they'll get the permanent bike lane connection completed and then travel here will be a dream. Outdoor patio is usually the latest, so late summer days (sep-oct) this is one of the places to go. Note - hours are always wonky so have a plan B. They're also wrong by design - kitchen shuts down supppper early and THAT should be the closing time for the day. It's not. So expect an hour before closing to be told no more food is available.Food is sandwiches and wraps, really great (veggie options!) Baked goods, awesome smoothies (purple is a favourite).Vegetarian options: Some solid veggie and vegan options, but it's a breakfast location that caters to traditional fareParking: Much better for biking or walking to here since it's downtown. Fixed bike lanes nearby but they randomly stop right before and right after this block.Kid-friendliness: Youngest kids are ok outside, indoor there's lots to see but it's very compact and it's a coffee-culture crowd so is probably really boringWheelchair accessibility: Outdoor wheelchair ease of access, but you'll maybe need someone who can order - the main door is very narrow and I don't think it stays open well.“
“Easily my favorite place to grab coffee. AJ and his staff are always so welcoming and friendly. The menu is the perfect size ! Their ice coffee and cappuccinos are always my go to option. If your ever is the south end, drop by and treat yourself !“
“This is a great spot if you want to grab a delicious coffee or specialty drink. The food is handmade, delicious, and visually appealing. Customer service was great— they were very friendly and even served our coffee and cake to our table. The interior of Creamy Rainbow is aesthetically pleasing and would be a great spot to sit and enjoy a drink and/or treat while you finish up work. I would highly recommend trying this place out!“
“Tried out one weekend because it looked popular and busy. Not super excited about t the parking situation and how few seats were available with those people lingering around with their laptops. The staff were very attentive and nice. Wish that they had home-baked healthy cake instead they have OK quality factory mass-produced sweets. Could be better operated if there was more “personal” touch in quality.Parking: If you are lucky, you could find a free parking spot in the side street but usually very busy and hard to find one especially with snow:(.“
“Overall - a wonderful bakery. Highlights include the white sourdough (Fremont), croissants, and beignets. The homemade hazelnut spread is also to die for. Service is generally warm and the dog friendliness is certainly a bonus. There are however a few mediocre items that could use some improvement — some of the loaves are mealy tasting (esp the whole wheat sourdough) and some of the pastries are lacklustre (I find this especially with the tarts, like the blueberry tart).“
“Came with my love and was like why are we dropping mad coin on food and stumbled on this spot. I wasn’t looking for “good service” but good food that was affordable and they delivered. Had a poutine and fish and chips. Fries were golden. And filled us up. If quicker buy Summits Poutine over Smokey’s Poutine. Support local and mom and pop shops all day, every day. Come young and young at heart.“
“Nour's Cafe and grill was recommended to me as i was in the area. And i was not disappointed. Friendly service. They have a speaker set up to hear each other properly. I got Nour's bagel (jalapeño and cheese) with egg, lettuce tomato. It was cut in half (didn't even ask for it ) tasty, grilled, and still warm. And bc i was still hungry, i got a small portion of their fries. MIAM! The spice they put on the fries are amazing. It adds more flavor. I would just decrease the amount of salt. The spices are enough, in my opinion. The portion was quite generous for small size. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars is the salt, and limited payment options: debit or cash.It was a positive experience overall. Thank you!“
“Oh, god love you, Alter Egos. Worst coffee in town, but I still go there pretty often. It's a community, it's a meeting place, it's a perch. Bobby hangs out there, so it's automatically a g.o.a.t. establishment and ally. Honestly if they figured out how to use the espresso machine it would kill the vibe. Never change, Alters.“
“We went for coffee and dessert at Café Lunette, and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dessert and bread. As a French person it was really good to find the servers from my country here. The only downside I would say is the quantity which is a little low in their dessert and on the baguette for the price but in any case the taste was there. I recommend.“
“Can I give 10 stars for each category? This place felt like home. Chris, Hailey and the others are amazing hosts and ensure you are taken care of.The coffee and conversation is worth coming back for over and over. Can't wait to come back next time I'm here.“
“Great local place to get a nice scoop of ice cream. A good rotation of flavours keeps things new. Prices are fair and staff are efficient and friendly. Picnic benches and green spaces are often occupied by families playing games while they enjoy their treats; nice atmosphere. It would be nice to see a garbage can or two away from the main building to ensure the space stays neat and tidy.Kid-friendliness: Green spaces and picnic benches as well as kid-sized ice cream options.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to the main building. Handicapped stalls.“
“They have catered a couple of small events for us now and both times we’ve gotten rave reviews about the food! Super friendly and accommodating and everything we’ve tried has been delicious. They are definitely my new go-to for our on-site events.“
“Friendly staff with lots of options (some of which are glitter and rainbow colors in your espresso beverages!) Prices are decent and they've got the option to buy a coffee and pay it forward for someone who may not have the funds. Very inclusive and welcoming space. Thanks, GB team!“
“Try the fishcakes, beans, and chow, they are super yummy!I really liked the cozy decor, with plants, a fireplace, bright windows with a view of the lake, and local art. Didn't try any baked goods today but the scones looked really good too. Our server was super friendly and nice.“
“Hello stranger (wavy hand emoji). I have something to say about this café, and you wanna know more about it before going there — which is fare. I’m a regular here — and let me tell you why.[ disclaimer: It is gonna be a poetic/romantic kind of review, so be prepared ]Walking in, you enter a bright warm space (writing it in winter so the warmth actually is a favourable feature). This is where I’ll be telling you more about the space itself. Plants are literally all around. Fantastic. Cozy. Green. The panoramic windows warm my heart. It is quite bright here, and little artificial light makes the space evenly illuminated. And of course the warm-light vintage light bulbs — I will leave it for your imagination. Love it.The music definitely fills the room just enough as you expect it to. The quality of the speakers is fairly good. And the tunes supplement the mood somehow. (Alternative/Indie/R&B/Soul/…)The kitchen is right behind the bar — sometimes you can literally see the steam leaving the stove for a second — a lovely view. [ Sorry, I’m just a big time culinary fan, couldn’t mention this aspect as well ]. And nothing heavy was cooked in my time being there, so no strong odour really. You get to see the metal cooking utensils and the cooking process — blessed. The art gallery wall. If local artists’ paintings is one of your meditation objects — you are welcome. The food menu has both sweet and savoury positions — come and try — I’m not gonna include it in this review since my time here rarely about eating, but the things I’ve tried so far left me satisfied. It is mostly coffee for me. Not as a «coffee culture» really, but more like an instrument. And for a person like me — it is greatly done. Baristas are nice and working hard — tip them well it is important!!Okay! Some of my experiences I will hold to myself. Too personal, too intimate. But in conclusion/ this place will make you feel. Feel its atmosphere, its diverse and soothing surrounding, its convenient space design and the urge to come back. And I SWEAR you will want to share it with someone at some point.«In the hush that flows, My thoughts find their dance, And I am at peace»See you there (wavy hand emoji).“
“I was crunched for time and needed food before an appointment. Stopped in for something quick and the staff hooked me up with a fantastic breakfast sandwich and coffee for the road in no time! While it was a quick stop-in, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Much appreciation, and I'm looking forward to going back for the full dine-in experience!“
“Great service and nice atmosphere. I ordered a mochachino with a blueberry loaf cake. The cake was delicious and the coffee was good as well. The store was quite spacious with lots of sitting area. A nice spot to hang out with friends and enjoying “
“This is a favourite spot for lunch. It gets very busy in the short hours they are open but worth the wait. The tomato pepper soup is so yummy. The pastries are all delicious and homemade. Lively and generally packed despite the odd location tucked inside a building. Highly recommend.“
“When we arrived they only had plain gutter croissants or chocolate croissants so we tried the normal ones. They were nice, it’s close to what croissants taste in France, although it’s very difficult to replicate them. I still recommend this place.Staff was very nice but the atmosphere was a bit cold in my opinion“
“I recently moved back into the area and was hoping to have brunch here every weekend. I had the Madurito breakfast which was a wonderful treat. The flavours were exotic and well balanced and I left quite satisfied. The breakfast came to $30.00 including tip. After searching online, I found this was almost double the price of any breakfast in Halifax. Wonderful food, but keep in mind you are paying for inflated food costs and for specialty ingredients. Not affordable on my budget, unfortunately.“
“Cabin Coffee offers a cozy escape with a delightful menu that satisfies both the sweet tooth and breakfast cravings. The cinnamon roll is an absolute must-try, boasting a perfect balance of sweetness and comforting spices. Pair it with their breakfast bun for a savory counterpart that's equally scrumptious. The inviting ambiance and friendly service make Cabin Coffee a top pick for a morning treat or a leisurely brunch.“
“Only went here once, so far, and enjoyed our food, kind of forget EM where it's off the beaten path but any time I drive by it reminds me that I have to go back again soon! There's a lovely store with lots of great local items as well as take home meals. Service also great“
“Best iced coffee I've ever had, very smooth. Also best cookies I've ever had, seriously they're perfect. Personally I'm not a fan of minimalist interior design but that's not very important since the food and drink are what matters. 10/10 recommend“
