“Okay, as a regular sushi eater, I was very happy with my experience at Sushi Maru. Their main selling point unquestionably is the quality of the ingredients used, which is top notch. The selection is good, they are generous with moat of their offerings and the service is excellent. The seating arrangement is a little tight though. Overall, a 5 star experience, highly recommended.“

“While I won’t consider myself a big fan of sushi(seafood doesn’t suit me sadly) I accompanied my close friends to this restaurant.I ordered a Ton Katsu Don (Deep-Fried Pork) while my friends got a Spicy Salmon Roll and Vegetable Dragon Roll. I must say the Don was absolutely perfect. This will be a guaranteed order from my end whenever I visit again. It honestly couldn’t be any better. My friend also liked their orders although they didn’t call it the best in Halifax so maybe that crown belongs to some other Sushi restaurant in their books. We were also given free spring rolls and ice cream as there was some offer for dine-in during specific hours. There are extremely rare instances where the Service and Hospitality trumps the food quality of a place for me, but happily this was one. Thank you again to the entire staff of Zen House for your kindness and excellent service.I can definitely recommend this place to anyone who wishes to try some authentic Japanese cuisine in Halifax.Vegetarian options: They have a menu for vegetarian sushi rolls.“

“I always enjoy the food here, very tasty and freshly prepared. Welcoming atmosphere. Each time I went there the staff was always friendly and willing to serve. Even the owners personally came to the table to ask if all is well and to me it seems they genuinely want to be sure you are satisfied. Thank you all at Ko-doraku. I hope to be there again.Oh and on another note. I appreciate the well upkeep of the restrooms, which I think is so important for a restaurant.“

“tl;dr Japanese family-owned sushi restaurant with a wider variety of fish than other restaurants in the area.Came here because it seemed most of the other sushi restaurants nearby didn’t have a wide selection of sashimi. The chef’s selected nigiri sushi dish had: salmon, tuna, mackerel (saba), red snapper (tai), cooked eel (unagi), scallop (hotate), Japanese clam (hokkigai), cooked octopus, yellow tail (hamachi), and shrimp. The hamachi didn’t look quite right and seemed to just be a cut of tuna but the sushi chef personally assured us that it was indeed hamachi, just cut so that somehow the characteristic red portion was missing.More than the sushi, two things that stood out were the seaweed wrapping for the maki (nori) and miso soup. The nori had a deep umami scent and had a nice, thick mouth feel. The miso soup also had a unique umami that did NOT taste like cheap restaurant miso stock.Overall the nigiri we had tasted ok, but the fish was cut thin and the cuts were slightly small. The green tea is good. Costs a dollar (but only a dollar). In terms of sake, they only serve your standard house Gekkeikan (hot or iced).“

“I'm glad we went. The food is good though they brought out one incorrect appetizer (we ordered edemame and they brought calamari). Cocktails were 10:10. Service in general feels like everyone is rushing and agitated which takes away from the vibe though the interior decoration is beautiful. Glad I went, not sure I'd go again“

“Been meaning to try this place because the great reviews. Finally got here tonight and it was awesome.Takoyaki was warm and octopus-y with the bonito flakes and sauce giving just the right funk to everything. I had Unagi rolls and Dynamite which were great. But the star was the Double Mon roll. It's a shrimp and avocado roll wrapped in salmon, avocado cream and lemon zest. A little dip in soy makes it sing. Soooo good. Definitely coming back soon. And spreading the word.“

“This is the best ramen shop in the province! We’ve been to every one we can find, and these guys take the cake! We drive all the way over from Eastern Passage, more often then I’d like to admit, just to get a bowl! We’ve been doing this since 2016 :) Try the Hokkaido ramen! Extra spicy if you can handle it ;)“

“Amazing good food! Prices have recently been updated as well, so here is the most up to date menu as of June 2023. I’m from the west coast and the first spot I dined in here on the east coast was Minato sushi! The old school pink classic building just stood out from the rest of the surrounding buildings. It’s well worth it! And it’s only run by husband and wife, super kind and generous vibes from them. Recommend trying it if you are looking for some good Japanese food.“

“Absolutely excellent restaurant. Their sushi is of great quality and their dishes are simple and delicious. Proportions are generous. Try the tonkatsu it's fantastic. Very open atmosphere with a softer, relaxing light level and located in the middle of a shopping district, so there's lots to do nearby. The staff are remarkably friendly as well.Vegetarian options: There's a few vegetarian options among the sushi choices. I always opt for the firecracker avocado roll, Great taste!Parking: As it's part of a shopping complex, there's quite a bit of parking in front of the restaurant and around the area, including an overflow parking lot about 20 m from the entrance.“

“I eat sashimi rice bowl once a month because I have something to do. There is also a proper amount of sashimi on top of the rice, and the sauce for red pepper paste(초고추장) is especially delicious. If you like sashimi rice bowl, it is recommended to eat sashimi bowl of rice here at least once.“

“Fabulous, fresh, and delicious - hands-down the best sushi in Halifax, and among the best I've had across Canada. A tiny restaurant, it is best for take-out (or delivery), but oh so good, right down to fresh, home-made chopped wasabi. Forget the 'AYCE' sushi joints - this is the real deal.“

“This restaurant produces good sushi, however, portions could be a little larger. Incredibly disappointed with the tuna Tataki, I should have checked the take out prior to leaving. It was very small for the $ and had this strange incredibly hot seasoning exteriolly instead if the traditional crunchy coating. It was actually inedible. The reader needs to know this was the first item I have been displeased with.“

“This is the most authentic sushi restaurant in Halifax. There are many varieties of sushi. The sashimi ingredients are very fresh. The sushi chef's skills are very good. Their stir-fries are also very unique. The chef is very good. The tempura shrimp is better than other sushi restaurants. They are all large, and the frying technique is very good. The color is golden and the taste is very good. The two waitresses are very young and beautiful, and the service is super great. The manager is very friendly and the service is very attentive. This store has superb cooking skills and excellent service. Finally, I would strongly recommend this store.“
“Sushi Moto is a hidden gem. We've tried sushi from all over Halifax to Truro and Sushi Moto takes the cake. A lot of places forget that sushi is also about the seafood/fish and not so much on the rice. Sushi Moto sushi rice is very well made and proportionally balanced with fish/seafood for a perfectly balanced bite packed with umami flavors.“

“When I was walking, I saw that I personally don’t like sushi at all, but when I’m hungry, I can’t care so much.Came twiceThe location is really good. It's right next to the school. It's surrounded by apartments. Anyway, it's self-service. You can eat enough. The food is served quickly no matter how many people there are.I love black pepper steak. I love it very much. I must order it every time I go there. Personally, I still like sweet meat dishes. But the portion is a bit small. To be honest, for example, the seaweed salad needs three portions together to be considered a real portion. The mustard is not spicy, not spicy at all. It doesn’t feel like you want it.The beef udon noodles are really small. It is a buffet after all, which is understandable. Although you can order more portions at a time, I suggest that if the customer orders more than two portions, he can change to a larger bowl. The sweet shrimps were taken out of the freezer and needed to be thawed. I ate four of them, and one of them still had a small amount of ice particles. The miso soup is not hot enough. I don’t like it. It’s lukewarm.Tsingtao Beer charges reasonable pricesOverall, it's okay. There are a lot of people on Saturdays and Sundays. It's really lively and the atmosphere is five-star.Everything was ok. Except that the food portions were a bit small.“

“While not necessarily the pinnacle of sushi perfection, these rolls stand out for their excellent value at just $17 for AYCE.If you're watching your budget, this place is a hidden gem. Personally, I have a soft spot for the mango cheese and Alaska rolls – true favorites of mine.“
