The Original Mels Diner is a retro-style eatery that serves up classic diner fare with generous portions, including the massive chef salad. The friendly and attentive staff ensures that drinks are always full and the food is top-notch quality. Visitors often praise the delicious scrambled eggs, described as fluffy and perfectly seasoned, turning a simple breakfast into a masterpiece. The diner is known for its clean environment, polite employees, and welcoming atmosphere. It offers plenty of free parking, including space for tractor trailers, making it convenient for all guests. The fun, retro decor adds a nostalgic touch, making it a great spot for a meal. Customers highlight their enjoyment of clam chowder, which they say is the best outside of the San Francisco pier area, especially when served with incredible corn bread. The burger is appreciated for its crisp patty and hearty bun, though some find certain seafood combos overpriced with small portions. Overall, the diner provides a warm, friendly environment that keeps visitors coming back for a satisfying meal.
