“Showed up right after opening so we were one of the only ones at the bar. Service was great of course!
Vibe is great. Nice tropical themes but not over the top.
Tried a few beverages.
Love Games was a good margarita riff. Great melon on the nose, hint of spice.
Fogg & Vivian was one our favorites. Great balance and smoothness.
El Flaco was a nice horchata cocktail.
Kamino was a true tropical drink. Very good.
Cenzoni was my least favorite. Gave a nice wine forward vibe though if you’re into that.“

The owner Ron is super nice and welcoming. It felt like we had known Ron for years, we got to share stories, and enjoy a perfectly poured Guinness.

The choice on whiskey is lovely, but we stuck to Powers.
Cody is a superb bartender! You will never have an empty glass in this watering hole.
Overall this was a wonderful experience, and we’ll be returning as much as possible.
LOVE the live music, atmosphere, and staff!

KJ has been the best bartender whenever we’re in. She makes you feel welcomed when she greets you, is always showing new comers how to use the card system to pour their drinks, and is attentive and friendly! “went here for the 1st time and it was pretty good. Only complaint some of the sauces they try to be cute with them and it ruins it. like Siracha in the Tartar Sauce for their fish and chips. I will never get that because of that. They put Tabasco in their Thousand Island that is stupid. But nice atmosphere good service and you can play Trivia that was fun. I had the pastrami it was good but I wanted regular Thousand island for it so that sucked. next time burger or Meatball Sandwhich“

“This is such a wonderful find and definitely one of my favorite new dive bars when in Reno. We heard about the shrimp scampi dinner they serve on Friday nights before ever stopping in, then again our first couple times coming by for a drink. A couple weekends ago we called to see about the dinner sometime early Friday evening, but learned they had already sold out and stopped serving. So while in town this weekend, we stopped by early evening (around 5) for the famous dinner and sat at the bar sipping drinks while we watched the seafood and pasta being prepared. It was less than $20 for a large plate of pasta with tons of shrimp and garlic bread on the side. Between that and the shrimp cocktail appetizer that the two of us shared, we left full and very satisfied.
Great staff, lively atmosphere, good prices, and a ton of fun things to look at while sitting at the bar. They have a pool table, and there's a barber shop attached (but we haven't been there when they've been open), and not sure if theyre related or just sharing a space. I highly recommend checking out this bar if youre in the mood for a drink, and if you're lucky enough to stop by on a Friday night, you're in for a treat with the dinner. Bring some gum for after dinner - lots of wonderful chunks of potent garlic in the scampi! :)“

All staff were just as super amazing and professional- service for everything was utmost!
Super clean bathrooms- love the 3 separate doors for 3 separate toilets and the sinks and mirrors are just outside. Very nice efficient setup!!!

I am an aesthetician and my clients name is Loren she runs this bar I went in to visit her and oh my goodness I had the best time the ambience was great Benji was behind her coming in after her and man oh man the service was incredible he definitely knows how to pump up a crowd and keep it going from what Loren already started. If Ron Burgundy ever stumbled into Reno after a scotch-fueled jazz flute solo, Shanty Dolan’s is exactly where he’d end up. I half expected him to burst through the door yelling, “I’m kind of a big deal,” and honestly… he wouldn’t have been wrong. This place is kind of a big deal.

The vibe? Imagine if the Channel 4 News Team retired and opened a bar that served cold beer, told better jokes, and somehow smelled faintly of victory and Old Spice. The lighting is perfect. Dim enough to make you look good, but bright enough that you can still judge your buddy’s terrible darts form.

Behind the bar is Nate part owner, part legend, part Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn. You can tell he’s in control of his craft because when he pours a pint, it’s like watching a relief pitcher close out the ninth inning with bases loaded. The crowd cheers. The jukebox cries. Someone probably yells “Just a bit outside!”

The drinks are strong, the people are friendly, and if you stay late enough, you might end up debating which Anchorman quote best sums up your night (“60% of the time, it works every time” feels right).

Bottom line: Shanty Dolan’s is where classy meets chaos, and both buy you a round. Stay classy, Reno and don’t forget your shades, because things get loud when Vaughn comes out of the bullpen.“
