“Sometimes you’re just looking for a little beach time and some great BBQ – and Batesy's BBQ delivered on both! We were in town helping another G-FORCE location with an Amazon project, so naturally, we took a break to explore the local food scene. First Impressions: We kicked off with the Deviled Eggs – the jalapeño added a nice little kick while the bacon... well, it was bacon – crispy and delicious. Next up were the House Pickles – sweet, vinegary, and unexpectedly tasty. Who knew pickles could be this good? The Mains: Harry went with the Pulled Pork – packed with flavor, moist, and paired with an excellent sauce. The Potato Salad stood out with just the right-sized chunks, and the Cornbread? Perfectly crispy on the outside. Steve opted for the BBQ Chicken – tender and juicy, coated with that same outstanding house sauce. And the Kielbasa? This place might not be Polish, but they nailed it – full of flavor and definitely a surprise hit! The Potato Salad reminded us of Grandma’s homemade classic, and the Collards had a unique twist that, honestly, we didn’t hate. The rest of the table didn’t hold back either – from the Burger to the Mac and Cheese and, of course, more Pulled Pork, it was all a hit! No complaints across the board – Batesy's BBQ is definitely a must-stop if you’re in Rockaway Beach. #BBQLovers #PaintAndPlateCrew #GForceOnTheGo #FoodieFinds #WinWithVSB“

“I took 6 of my friends here for my birthday dinner last night, LaZiza did NOT disappoint. We were offered a custom chef dinner, coursed out and fitting with any/all allergies. The food was absolutely delicious, from spreads (just get them all), salads to charcoal mushrooms, prawns, chicken, falafel, roasted chicken and lamb. Of course we also had the baclava and flourless chocolate cake. Everyone was happy and full. The cocktails should not be missed either they were all delicious and unique. The atmosphere was vibrant, especially for a Tuesday, with records playing continuously and the guests dancing in their seats. This place is a gem, go get yours.“
“Cocktail Magique show was a magnificent experience. Very positive, jaw dropping, interactive show that keeps you engaged throughout the 2 hour memorable performance.“

“Be sure to check out karaoke on Mondays. The karaoke system they use is Karafun. It has a wide selection of songs. The karaoke mics are a little faulty, meaning they will go in and out during your songs.
All the Bartenders are no-nonsense, so it does feel pretty strict, but I'd rather that bartenders who chat too much with their friends and always take smoke breaks...
Drinks are reasonably priced, and the alcohol pour is sometimes too weak.“

“I am visiting from the West Coast. I’m a wine judge and an advanced Somm.
My family drove around, looking for a place to eat, and my sister says let’s try that place and boy we were not disappointed. First off the hostess Olivia and her sister the server Alex were pleasant and professional. And the food was spot on. But What surprised me it’s a tight little wine less but very diverse. Can’t recommend this place enough!“

“Came here in for a quick drink while I was waiting for a show and couldn’t be happier. Friendly staff, great drinks and a very relaxing atmosphere. If you are looking to unwind after a long day with a perfectly crafted drink this is the place to go. Austin was my bartender and I had the Gentlemen Buck.“

“A warm welcoming place offering French Creole cuisine from Reunion island. A compact menu offering very reasonably priced apps and mains, and a lot of lentil and rice. Ordered the sampler though a few items we wanted were out. Tender coconut shrimp and beef Bourguignon entrees were excellent. We were well taken care of by the staff.“

“Had a great after-work visit at Cocktail Bed-Stuy! I came across it while looking for somewhere to go, saw the good reviews, and decided to try it out.
Loved the cozy vibes and cool atmosphere. Shout out to Oscar the bartender was friendly and made the experience even better. I spent most of my time at the bar, and the staff was welcoming.
They also have an outdoor space that I’ll definitely check out next time. Overall, it’s a cool place to hang with friends. Can’t wait to go back!“

“We hosted a private celebration here. Roxane and Chrysanthemum were so amazing and helpful in getting us set up and being flexible with our logistics. Would highly recommend this as a venue for big events (~80-120 ppl). The space is beautiful and well-designed. Amazing vibe for night-life and dancing if you have a DJ!“

“Margie’s is an excellent restaurant on the ground floor of the Rockaway Hotel. It’s very nostalgic to locals as it was built where the Rockaway staple known as Gallagher, Snug Harbor and Daltons once stood before the beautiful hotel was built. Margie’s serves up some great food including an excellent variety of prime steak cuts. Their cocktails are excellent and one must taste their staple Irish Coffee which is fantastic. Margie’s and the entire Rockaway Hotel have always been an amazing experience.“

“My friends and I had a lovely afternoon at The Rockaway Hotel Pool house. We were greeted by a warm and friendly hostess, Isabella, who made us feel so welcomed. Our beautiful table was in the perfect spot to take in all of what the Rockaway Hotel has to offer. The outside bar and Pool house are exquisite. The pool was bustling with excitement. Our waiter, Andrew, was polite and helpful . I highly recommend coming to The Rockaway Hotel because their staff is highly professional and attentive.“

“Went to TORA NYC recently and decided to order takeout, but even from that short experience the hospitality stood out. While we were waiting, they offered us water and were really welcoming, which already left a good impression. The space itself looks beautiful modern, intimate, and definitely feels like the kind of place that would make a really nice date spot.
We ordered three dishes: the Yokan Roll, Negichutoro Don, and Gyudon.
The Yokan Roll was a really nice example of how modern sushi rolls balance texture and richness. Inside was spicy salmon and cucumber, and it was topped with lightly seared salmon, mentaiko sauce, tempura flakes, and tobiko. The seared salmon added a gentle smokiness while still keeping that soft buttery texture salmon naturally has. The mentaiko sauce, made from seasoned pollock roe that’s widely used in Japanese cuisine, brought a creamy, briny umami flavor that paired really well with the fish. Tobiko added those signature little bursts of saltiness, and the tempura flakes gave a light crunch that balanced the richness of the sauce and salmon. It was a well constructed roll where each topping actually had a purpose.
We also got the Negichutoro Don, which had minced medium fatty bluefin tuna over rice. In sushi terminology, tuna is categorized by fat content akami being lean, chutoro the medium fatty section, and otoro the richest cut from the belly. Chutoro tends to be the sweet spot because it has enough fat to be buttery while still keeping that clean ocean flavor. The texture here was incredibly soft and almost melt-in-your-mouth. Negitoro as a dish traditionally mixes minced tuna with scallions, since the word “negi” literally means scallion. The tuna quality here was great and the texture was amazing, but I do think it could be elevated slightly. If the scallions were minced and mixed into the toro instead of sitting on top it would distribute the flavor more evenly. A little shredded nori could add some aroma from the sea, and honestly avocado would pair really nicely with the richness of the tuna.
The Gyudon was probably the most comforting dish we ordered. Gyudon has a long history in Japan and became popular in the late 19th century as a quick, affordable rice bowl. Thinly sliced beef is simmered in a sweet savory broth that’s very similar to sukiyaki sauce, usually made with soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sometimes dashi. The beef absorbs that slightly sweet umami flavor as it cooks. Here it was served over rice with scallions, sesame seeds, and an onsen egg. Once everything was mixed together, the egg yolk coated the rice and beef and brought everything together. The sauce, beef, and egg created that rich silky texture that makes gyudon such a comforting dish.
Even though we only ordered takeout, that level of service was noticeable.
Overall the food was really good and thoughtfully prepared. The fish quality was great, the bowls were comforting, and the hospitality stood out even in a quick takeout experience. The restaurant itself looks like a really nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal, so we’ll definitely be coming back to dine in next time.“
“Exceptionally friendly staff — almost surprisingly so for NYC. Feels like a family run business! We felt very welcome and the drinks were pretty reasonable.
Live DJ on a Friday night but it wasn’t too loud for us to chat at a table. We had a lovely night out with a group of almost ten.“
“The second time here... Very nice atmosphere, "real chill"... Very good music. People are kind.... And the girl who works here is so kind and polite. She is awsome. ❤️“
“Cute cocktail spot nestled in Ridgewood. We were poking around some of the stores nearby and then stopped in for a drink - though we didn’t try, the Monday Greek specials were a pretty good deal, and the cocktails we did order were both good! It’s a unique bar for the area and I’m interested to try the downstairs (bartender said it’s a music / event space) next time when it’s not 5pm on a Monday lol.“

“Everything was perfect. Walking in we were checked in by the owner himself, who sat us at the corner of the bar immediately. The atmosphere takes you straight into old time NYC. Food was incredible, arguably the best pizza I’ve ever had. All around amazing experience!“
“Through a connection, I met the owner and experienced her establishment's nice vibes. I visited for the Tuesday special, and her plant-based chicken tacos were really good, along with some drinks. I look forward to continuing to support her business.“

“Great vibes and ambiance. A very nice change from the Brooklyn dive bars. Drinks are good and bartenders are nice, friendly, and chatty.
Only negative is if you want to play pool with a group of friends you have to win the table from a couple of pool sharks who continually own the table over and over again. So bring someone who is very good at pool or you’ll only be playing the pool sharks. Kind of lame but whatever. House rules I guess.
Aside from that I enjoy this bar.“

“It really does not get better than this. Came on a Saturday night with my girlfriends at 9pm (prior reservation) and had a blast. The service was great, served came by plenty of times to refill our water. The sushi was amazing!!!
The live show by this magnificent trio deserves all the accolades in the world. I have not seen any other restaurant where people got up from their tables to dance to each song. This place is perfect for birthday celebrations or any kind of milestone celebration.
The staff will come and sing happy birthday to you as well. Pretty impeccable ambience.
Sushi rolls range from $14-$20 and it comes with 8 pieces each. Great deal.“

“I really enjoyed the design of the menu, the flatware, plates and bowls. The food was also excellent too. I went during brunch hours with a friend . I had a Cesar salmon salad miso soup and fried katsu chicken which i ordered to go. We sat in the garden. Someone had a dog which turned me off a little but at least it was far from our table. The service was good too. I had my first espresso martini.“

“The cocktails are competently-ish made, if nothing spectacular, though it's nice to see the Jet Set theme continuing with both an Aviation and a Paper Plane on the menu. It's decidedly not a craft cocktail spot, though it definitely would be amazing if it were. It's a hotel bar. It's a hotel bar with hotel bar prices. But what a hotel. What a hotel!
Get a Martini. Enjoy the mother of all conversation pits. Watch the art on the big split-flap board.“

“A small and cozy restaurant with a little bar. There aren't a lot of large tables so it might be hard to come here with a big group. The vibe of the place is fun and there is plenty of interesting decor. The Poke Bowl was below average. I'd try something different if I come back here again. The staff were friendly.“
