“I’ve been coming to Rolo’s since they first opened and they really never disappoint. The food just gets better and better. Everything is amazing but my hands down favorite is the shrimp. I’d say it’s easily some of if not the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life. The whole menu just compliments itself from the Calabrian chili butter to the wagyu steak. Also, Sitting in the back of the restaurant is such a cool experience because you get to watch the chefs work their magic on that wood fire grill. “We came across this restaurant from a viral social post and didnt have any expectations honestly. The food was EXCELLENT and it had been a while since we’ve said that about a trending restaurant in NYC. We started with the wings that were some of the best wings I’ve ever had ( they serve it piping with a side of soaked towels to wash your hands) and the bone marrow was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Served on the bone with a side of buttery toast to place the marrow on and a delicious onion jam that sealed the deal. Then we had their famous burger with bacon and egg and it did not disappoint and a shaved prime rib that was AMAZING with a side of bacon Mac and cheese (we came hungry lol). Finished with the chocolate cream pie and key lime pie that sent us. Now the food was amazing but I have to say our server Ariana was what made our overall experience a 10/10. She was the BEST server we have experienced in a long time. She was so friendly, outgoing, and perfectly attentive and really made our night extra special to be honest. WE WILL BE BACK!“

“Truly the best Mexican food I’ve had in the city so far. I didn’t know what to expect but the meats and flavor profiles were so developed. We had the tacos, bone marrow, Short rib, bass entree, scallops appetizer, and the rice pudding. Meat was juicy and smoked. Scallops were the softest most pure flavor I’ve had in a while and the spice completely opened up my palate. The bass with its accompanied salad was extremely intricate and well thought out to connect the two. Highly HIGHLY recommend Claro. Definitely coming back to explore the mezcal side of the menu.“

But the dining room is high ceiling and convivial, and the staff is allowed to sport their personalities, which is welcome.“

A little snob, but maybe that’s the vibe they want to share around. We had reservation but it was delayed, and we couldn’t have a drink while we’re waiting. The food was tasty, but not crazy to wait for delays. However, the place is cute if you don’t mind those details. Some people of the staff, great, others a little snobby and not friendly. Extremely loud place too, if you like to have a conversation, it’s not the kind of place I would recommend. You should try it at least once to find out tho, maybe it’s fine for you. “We went last Sunday night for a family dinner. We ordered White bean Hummus, Hamachi and Tuna appetizers(tiny portions), Gruyère fritters as starters. Can’t remember what else. Everything was delicious. We ordered pork Katsu and the citrus marinated chicken, Gnocchi w Duck Ragu for dinner which were also well prepared and accompaniments were flavorful. Part of our dinner was the charred octopus appetizer. This dish was quite overcooked and chewy. The sauce on the side was the only way we got through the plate. In retrospect we should have sent the item back as it was an expensive selection but we did not want to be rude. This was also unexpected as our other choices were tasty so we did not know how to deal with this miss. All in all this dish was a disappointment. Staff was friendly, vibe was nice and the restaurant was quite full on a Sunday evening. We noticed a gentleman watching over the dining room and I am guessing that was to make sure patrons were either well taken care of or not over staying.“

Duck pastrami hash & poached eggs, caramelized onion, parsley salsa verde & local greens. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the salsa was great. The duck and the hash was other worldly. Tons of duck. In almost a stew of small potatoes perfectly softened. In some type of gravy. Wow. Even the greens are great. Nice light dressing. Almost salty. Service was friendly and attentive. My daughter said her avocado toast was excellent. I don't make it to Brooklyn that frequently but can't wait to go back to this great spot. I didn't drink that day but they had a nice looking and well stocked bar.“

Head mixologist/bartender Cyllan walked me through a few of his favorites and had me sampling everything from his frozen rum punch (absolutely delightful) to his green bean pickle brine (very briny). They made me a pisco sour from last season's menu and followed it up with the Mai Tai. Both were good, better than good even. They use a vegan foaming agent instead of egg white, if that sort of thing matters to you. Average price around $19/drink at the time of this writing. The rest of the staff was attentive and friendly. The music was a bit loud for 4:30PM on a Tuesday. Bathroom was clean.“
