“Excellent place. Was just there the other day as of April 7th, 2024. Huge burgers and great German potato salad. Beers getting a little expensive at nearly 10 bucks a pop. At least what I got. German food is definitely not healthy. lol. It's very underrated since it's so good but never gets the hype. Had one of those huge pretzels too. Excellent and soft.Their home fries are outstanding. Next door is great with their deli. Got some stuff to go. The Forest bologna is top notch. To me it's a little better than Boars Head and that's saying a lot to me. The Frikadellen is very good. Kind of like chopped meat with spices in it. At 2.25 a pop it's worth it. Roast beef is quite good. Their chop meat is very good. Round pretzels you can use as bread for a sandwich as well.. Nice beers up front and various mustards. A really good place.“
“Tasty Austrian/German food, awesome and friendly staff, and atmosphere.Recommendations:- Austrian Meatballs $25~- Reuben $25~Reuben was well toasted, cheesey, and meaty, served with ranch. The meatballs were excellent for meatball/meatloaf lovers, root veggies were cooked tender and sweet. Looking forward to coming back and trying out the other dishes. We sat at the bar and chatted with some of the staff, and it was clear the staff were enjoying their work and creating a neighborhood spot.“
“Went there on a chilly rainy dull weekday night and oh boy did the place lift up my mood! ? A large beer selection (plus ciders and wines) at a great price and hearty German food. My husband and I had a big appetite and ordered a giant pretzel with cheese, 3 different bratwursts with sauerkraut, purple cabbage and a side of potato salad. By the end of our sumptuous meal we were so full that we almost had to be rolled out. All staff were very kind and professional and gave us excellent recommendations. I would go back just for their hofbrau original and classic brat (and well, yes their potato salad too).“
“It was a lot of fun! There were 9 of us and the quickly brought our beer and appetizers; there was very little wait. The beer was great - just what you would expect from a beer garden! And the food was excellent too. We tried a variety of brauts and all of them were good. Will definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood!“
“Gottscheer Hall is a fixture of Ridgewood and has been for decades. It does an excellent job at bridging the gap between the old neighborhood and the infusion of the new crowd in a way in which everyone feels welcome. The food is excellent and reasonably priced and their selection of German beer pretty much guarantees something for everyone. The bartenders are also the best in the area, friendly, personable and great to chat with while sipping on a cold one. I've made many memories and friends in that place from all walks of life. I recommend it to everyone. Easy 5 stars. Check it out!“

“Came with friends and the fast flickering light was bothering my epilepsy so I asked my waitress Aleksandra if I could sit outside. She was wonderful bringing me beers and serving both friends inside and me outside. She went above and beyond. Great service. Great beer. Loved the atmosphere (sad I couldn’t handle the lights). The outdoor tent was great for people watching. Just a lovely experience all around.“
“I love potato pancakes and was expecting a pancake size order. They were smaller appetizer sizes. I went just for the pancakes and ended up with a fish sandwich in a German Restaurant. It was good, but I felt my choices were either sandwiches or large meals at 2pm.. I'll go back to try something else..Wheelchair accessibility: I'll disabled and didn't need a wheelchair but it's Street level. Parking is on the street as well.“
“Ambience good.Food was okay so far.You got full but nothing more. The schnitzel tasted pretty good, but the sauce didn't taste goodRed cabbage tasted very strange and disgusting.Cucumber salad was good though.Service leaves a lot to be desired. The music was really bad.Service doesn't speak German.Radler mixed with Fanta instead of Sprite.“
“Phenomenonal fries (get a tray!). Seriously some of the best fries I've ever had.The burgers are borderline perfect. Great atmosphere for a night out with with your partner, friends, or even the family. The restaurant has warm vibes and comfy chairs. I keep going back again and again. Plus the happy hour is nice“
“My friend says he's been here like 4x in the last year and I can see why. The pork shank is a work of art. With its crispy skin, juicy, meaty, and fatty interior, it checks all the boxes. It was a really awesome dish to share with others. The sausages that accompanied were quite tasty dipped in their house mustards. I also greatly enjoyed their cabbage and kraut. We also ordered the Jager schnitzel with perfectly cooked spatzle on the side. I'm not the biggest fan of cream sauces but the schnitzel was tasty and the saptzle well seasoned. Cozy restaurant with solid service and a great place to share meat with friends!“
“Besides their wonderful restaurant, they have the German specialty store! Both bring a little bit of Germany to Queens. The butcher shop is spectacular and immaculate. There are so many choices! Whether you're stopping in because you came for dinner next door, or you are looking for some authentic German goodies. You won't go wrong.“
“A must visit! This is my second time here. This place offers a great selection of traditional German beers in the “boots” or stein! The food here is very good. It’s also very traditional German food but they also offer some American options such as salmon and burgers. The ambience is comfortable and service is very great. Friendly staff!“
“At this lovely Austrian restaurant, I savored the classic Wiener Schnitzel paired with a side of flavorful potatoes and refreshing cucumber salad. The crispy, tender veal cutlet was a standout dish, perfectly complemented by the light and tangy salad. Additionally, the Viennese Beef Goulash served with fresh herbed Spatzle was a comforting delight, with the tender beef and rich, savory sauce creating a satisfying meal. The cozy atmosphere and old-world charm of the restaurant added to the overall experience, making it a delightful culinary journey through Austrian traditions. It was beautiful lunch and I highly recommend to everyone ?“
“Ordered crispy delicious potato pancakes and a tasty sausage platter. Bartender suggested a great beer I'd never heard of and it hit the spot. Conveniently located next to the movie theater.I'm getting hungry again just thinking about those potato pancakes.“
“Went for Valentine's Day. Service was very great. Risotto was amazing! Great quiet spot with good spacing and room where people don't feel on top of you.Specialty drinks could have been better. Ordered my usual dark and stormy and .y date had the same and it was way better. So get your usual.“
