Mario's Restaurant of Arthur Avenue is an old school, family-owned Italian spot where time stands still and service means something. The atmosphere is very nice with good lighting, beautiful paintings, and a nice decor. The service is exceptionally well-trained, attentive, and friendly, providing a level of hospitality that makes guests feel like a regular even on a first visit. It feels like being genuinely taken care of.
The food is excellent and authentic Italian style. Popular dishes include the lasagna, which is rich with flavor, the linguine alfredo, and the Penne Alla Vodka. For starters, the fried calamari is considered the best, and the prosciutto and burrata is simple and flawless. The restaurant also serves a memorable Mario's salad and a standout stuffed artichoke. Before the meal, guests receive bread and butter along with delicious seasoned sliced carrots and a selection of olive oils and pickled carrots that are aggressively spicy in the best possible way. For desert, the creme brulee cheesecake seals the deal. They offer a good selection of wine at great prices.
