And the food? Each dish arrived in comical abundance, leaving us marveling at the sheer generosity of Painter’s kitchen. Massive portions, incredible flavors. “This is one of my favorite places to stop and get a bite to eat. They have great rice bowls with very generous portions of protein. You also get a pita on the side with a cup of hummus. There are toppings for the hummus as well, including my favorite, olive spread. The service is warm and friendly and the staff are great. They also have great muffins and protein packs. To the side there are some interesting energy drinks but I have not tried those. Overall, I really like their food and the price is good for what you get. I highly recommend them!!!“

“I can not believe that this restaurant has been here on Main Street in Port Jefferson Village for over 20 years and I never ate there!!! This is my new Favorite place to eat. The food was exceptional and good size portions. The pita bread they put out on the table was so delicious I could have made that my meal. The service was extremely attentive and so personable. The Owner came around greeting everyone and made us feel like we were all family having dinner together. I am looking forward to my next visit.“

“What a spectacular hidden gem of a restaurant! I'll go anywhere for a good duck breast, this place absolutely delivered 110%. Right amount of char, the seasoning, and it was cooked to perfection. Smoked salmon and burrata apps were delicious. We couldn't be happier with the very attentive service, quaint atmosphere - and the food was really on point for such an unassuming location. Also, the hot rice pudding with golden raisins was fantastic, as close to grandmas recipe as I can remember coming across! Keep up the spectacular work!“

My meal on the other hand, chicken della casa was not good at all. The chicken was so bland I couldn't eat it. I should have sent back but didn't by that point I lost my appetite. I did order the dessert tiramisu which was really good. I would go back but next time I would try another dish.“

“I came here for lunch and ordered the sesame chicken with a side of white rice along with the spring rolls The sesame chicken was delicious and the rice paired with it perfect The spring rolls were a bit over-fried which gave them a slightly bitter taste but they were still decent. The service was great the staff member who helped me was very friendly and attentive The only downside was that they don’t offer any dessert OverallI had a good experience and would come back“

“Breakfast is our favorite meal and we eat out every morning. Due to an early morning doctor appointment, we bumped into Buttermilk’s Kitchen. Great vibe as soon as you walk in….friendly and cheerful staff, nice decor, immediate service. I had the “The ‘Ol Barnyard”…..the sausage gravy was excellent with big chunks of sausage and super flavorful…..probably the best I’ve had here in NY and most of the South!!! The bacon was high quality and very tasty. My perfect over easy eggs were so fresh (yes, I can taste the freshness and quality just by having a bite of the whites!). My husband had a “Create Your Own Omelette” and declared that is was a “work of art” (I was offended because I make a darn good omelette and he never said that to me!) We were concerned about the “hash browns” because that usually means just cubed and fried potatoes, so we were very pleasantly surprised at the delicious shredded and seasoned, crispy but soft hash browns. Our regular coffee was good and hot, and they offer several “craft” coffee options. The Banana Foster French toast looked delectable! The lunch menu looks good, as well. We’ll definitely be back.“

Every time we eat there we end up talking to other tables. I drive quite a distance to eat here. If you go you have to try the baked clams. They only serve cherry stone clams. So so good.

“Sole Mio donated an incredible meal to the Ronald McDonald Room at Stony Brook University Hospital while our daughter was there. The meal included a wonderful chicken Parmesan and a pasta with vodka sauce that was especially good. We were very thankful for their kind donation and hope to visit in person in the future.“
