“Neighborhood gem. Great decor, homey, comfortable but well appointed. I have dined here alone and with family, both times it was a good atmosphere. GM Michael is really good and runs a good staff. The food is delicious- good for all types of diet restrictions. Fresh ingredients well prepared. Last but not least also great cocktails. Host and server were friendly and attentive. I will for sure be coming back here!“

“The addition of Peeps kitchen vastly improves the vibe. Not only does it have the most public pinball machines in Brooklyn it’s now also one of the few pinball bars that also has food. A downside is the bar is a little lackluster. The tap beers are $10 with limited cocktail options as far as I’m aware. All the machines are very well maintained and they regularly have the newest games on cycle. Lots of seating and TVs if you just want to hang out. The chicken was awesome as well.“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

“Based just on service, this place deserves 5 stars but the food and the orchestration of the whole visit deserves a Michelin star. The scallops are incredibly mindful and memorable. If you want to be blown away, skip dessert and opt for the pb and j with foie Gras instead. Wow. amazing experience“

“Food was so authentic. It took me back to some of my favorite spots on St. Marks back when Japanese Restaurants were kind of hole in the wallish and actually owned and prepared by Japanese. Tonkatsu was super crispy and moist. Udon was clean with a true Japanese flavor not flavor packet garbage some restaurants are passing off these days. The curry udon was amazing. Chirashi was delicate, flavorful and fresh. Great staff. Loved it all. Will be back and soon.“

“I came to Holy Pita and ordered the chicken shawarma, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was juicy, perfectly spiced, and wrapped in fresh pita with all the right toppings. Every bite was full of flavor.

The music is local and right — unexpectedly amazing — like someone actually thought about it instead of hitting play on some corporate streaming service. “A nice neighborhood bar with a huge courtyard, the restrooms were clean, the alcohol selection isn't particularly wide, but if you're looking to drink a beer close to home, this is a great place, the staff are nice people at not expensive prices at all.“

Thick, juicy burgers cooked exactly how you want it. The sides are delicious and plentiful.

I typically get the regular DuMont Burger, the smaller size, with onion rings and maybe soup if they have tomato that day. The DuMac and cheese burger is a good way to get a bit of the good stuff without buying a full order of the Mac.
Smash burgers are on trend right now, and I don’t understand that. I love a thick burger, and I order medium rare because I am confident in the quality of their food.“

“My family and I recently hosted a memorial luncheon for our mom at The Wicked Monk and it exceeded every expectation.
From the incredible food to the truly exceptional customer service, this team delivered.

I first met with Megan to discuss the details and immediately I felt supported and understood. She was sweet, helpful, and truly concerned with making sure we were all good — even though she wouldn’t be there on the day of the luncheon. She stayed in touch leading up to the event, checked in to ensure every question was answered, and made sure we were in great hands with Clara and Chris.

Clara followed up with us right before the luncheon to make sure every detail was set. She truly knew the assignment — making sure all of our photos were displayed on the screens because she understood how important it was for us. Her attention and calm professionalism brought reassurance so we could focus on our guests.

Chris — our bartender, go-to guy, and (as I later learned) the owner of this wonderful place — was the very definition of hospitality. From our very first phone call to the last moments of the luncheon, his “whatever you need” attitude was unwavering. He anticipated every need and ensured everything ran flawlessly, all while being friendly, engaging, and perfectly attuned to the tone of the day.

And let’s not forget the food — absolutely fantastic! We’re a very picky Italian-Irish family, and the buffet was wonderful. Everyone kept talking about how much they enjoyed it, and we all agreed that my mom would have loved the meal and the warmth of the place.

What could have been a difficult day was made warm, welcoming, and full of heart because of this incredible team. If you’re looking for a venue that delivers both amazing food and truly above and beyond service, The Wicked Monk is it.

“I don’t know why this isn’t rated higher. This is an insanely good burger joint. The burger is savory and perfectly sauced with just a hint of pepperyness on the sauce that brings out a ton of flavor. The fries were perfectly golden and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside.

The staff are super friendly and fun! The music is great. Seltzer water from the fountain machine!

“Stopped by here on a weekend afternoon since I happened to be in the area and wanted to grab a drink. The place was pretty packed, with almost all the tables taken. The vibe and interior had a cool atmosphere and felt pretty nice.

I ordered a dirty martini and a beer, but the beer bottle was super slim compared to others, so the portion felt a bit small. Overall, it’s a solid spot if you live around here.“

As a beer snob, I really wish they had some better options though. With 12+ taps i find that only 4-5 are really something special with the rest being average at best. If they can up the options just a little it would be a 5 star bar.“

They have a music jam Wednesday nights, as our of there entertainment options, and there's like other stores embedded in this one, it's like a mini market. the tater tots were crispy and fresh, but the chicken tenders were... the chicken itself was flavorful and juicy (maybe a little too heavy with the pepper) but the breading was SO weird. It was like smooth and flaky, instead of crispy. at least we knew that they were made in-house because never in my life have i seen chicken tenders like that anywhere else. i would go back and try a different menu item though, just not chicken based.“
