What a cute fusion concept! Definitely a hug in a bowl type place so perfect for cold, rainy, or sick days. The owners are also super sweet and pet loving.
Their congee is nice and soothing, super perfect with the soft boiled egg. Also note that they are a mom & pop so they are very understanding with swapping on low ingredient days (ie they let me swap out avocado with sambal)

This was my first time trying congee, so I asked the waitress what she would recommend. She suggested the Golden Energy Congee Bowl, and I’m glad I went with it! It’s a chicken congee that was delicious, warm, and incredibly comforting. The flavors were great, and it was the perfect introduction to congee. I’d definitely order it again! Note: You can add chilly oil if you want it to be spicy.
Yum. Quick. Good service. Clean. Healthy.

Maya Congee Cafe on Fulton St. offers a variety of dishes, including the Chicken Bahn mi and Congee. The food is tasty and can be easily adapted for vegetarian and dietary restrictions. The seating is primarily outdoors, making take-out or warm weather visits preferable. The tea selection is notable, especially the hot milk tea with oat milk and elderflower ginger syrup. The restaurant is kid-friendly, but spicy options may need to be adjusted for young children. Customers often enjoy the house-made chili oil available at the tables and praise the "Wake Me Up" congee for its perfection. The Hong Kong Coffee Tea, with its Earl Grey tea essence and condensed milk, is highly recommended and considered a treat. The sweet potato, carrot, and tofu bowl is a popular choice, offering a delicious and satisfying meal. When the weather is nice, outdoor seating on the terrace or bench makes for a pleasant dining experience, adding to the cozy, hole-in-the-wall atmosphere.
Customers describe the congee as delicious and flavorful, with many small elements that further amplify the dish. Some have mentioned the congee being unevenly heated, but this was not a universal experience. The restaurant also has a few shelves dedicated to groceries, and visitors suggest specifying if lattes have coffee or not. Overall, customers are very happy with their meals and the cozy atmosphere, and would return for breakfast, lunch, or dinner any time of the year.
