“5 stars are not enough to tell you how good this place is. We've been staying in the Franklin Guesthouse (hotel adjacent to Madre) for a couple of nights and decided to give Madre a shot - boy were we in for a treat! Firstly, shout out to Armando, who made us feel immediately welcomed with his warmth and energy! For food, we got the Frutti di Mare, Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, Cornbread Madeleines (compliments from chef) and Chicken - massive MASSIVE props to Chef Bryan and his very talented team. To say that they cooked "well" would be the understatement of 2022. They absolutely blew our minds with top quality medley of ingredients, depth of flavor, and masterful execution in every way. Cocktails were fun and delectable, which added the perfect "pop" to the culinary rocket ship that Madre served up. Just when my wife and I were ready to call it a night, Chef Bryan and Armando were kind enough to bring out the Pot de Creme for us, which was the bow and ribbon on this very special dinner. My only regret of the night was not having enough stomachs to enjoy more of what Madre could serve up. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Madre!“

“Most toppest-tier extended tasting menu spots in NY leave me a bit cold - the ultra-refinement feels sterile and saps the joy and discovery of a Noma, Gaggan, or Quintonil. EMP at its (pre-Vegan) height bored me, Atomix is obviously excellent but I vastly prefer the food and soul of Atoboy (maybe it’s just the chicken, but still - also I’ve never been to Le Bernardin so no shade to them).

Blanca, however, is now the one in the city I’d slot with my favorites ever - the first in the city since the initial iteration of Ko.

Certainly it has refinement to spare, but almost every dish presents diners with combinations which seem dubious at first - but after the first few conquer your palate you’ll be along for the ride, salivating over what discordant thrills Blamey masters as if born concocting them.

And that bread course…I’ll never forget it.

Thank you Blanca!!“

“It’s surprising that this small restaurant holds both the James Beard Award for Best Chef in New York and a Michelin One Star.

The bar seats are nice because you can watch the chefs at work, but it’s very dimly lit, so a table might be a better choice.

Even though the head chef has changed, it seems the dishes now have richer flavors, perhaps due to the added South American influences.

This was one of the finest restaurants I’ve ever visited, and even the desserts were fantastic.“

“Inga’s Bar does not serve bar food, really, despite the name and despite the cheeseburger on its menu — a very good and unpretentious one, on a soft toasted bun with white onions, crisp dill pickles, sweet bread-and-butter pickles and a stack of two pressed beef patties, each in its own shiny orange sheath of melted American cheese. You wouldn’t think it was out of place in the kind of tavern where mugs are kept in a freezer below the beer taps and the food is served in plastic baskets, unless you knew that the pickles are made on site. OK, the dark, from-scratch fries with freshly whisked mayonnaise might give the game away, too.“

“It’s such a pity, I really wanted to like this place but was let down for some reason.Ambience was great for casual dining, super hip decor, noises from tables reverberating around the small, cavern like inner room.Food was good as well. But it was so so slow. We wanted to order starters first, see how we feel before ordering mains. We were told it has to be all at once.Even though they took our orders from the start, we had to wait an hour for the mains to arrive (same for the table beside us). The service staff did come by and apologise twice, so I’m guessing the slow service is not usually the norm.“

It’s tough getting that moisture out when doing breakfast burritos but those that do, it’s much better and not as messy. The rosemary fingerling potatoes were absolutely amazing. Would get those every time I come here.

All I can say is wow - we had a GREAT meal, couldn’t pick a favorite thing we ate, and felt that every item we ordered was a standout, not just a few things. Our waitress told us the menu is consistently changing, so this may only be helpful for those going this week.. but some of the items we ordered - tuna tartare (ordered a second of these at the end of the meal it was that good!), octopus, snapper bao buns, scallops (sleeper surprise excitement), blueberry ribs, foie gras, truffle pasta, duck, finished with key lime pie even though we had absolutely no room. “For a special evening with my partner, I booked a reservation at Margot, a restaurant known for its intimate charm. The atmosphere did not disappoint—the cozy, romantic setting was perfect, and the attentive service added to the overall experience. However, as our beautifully crafted courses arrived, we couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed by the presentation. While the flavors delivered a delightful blend of sophistication and comfort, the visual impact just wasn’t there. Given Margot’s esteemed reputation, we had hoped for dishes that matched the ambiance in terms of artistry.

That said, the food itself was well-executed, and the balance of flavors left a lasting impression. Margot excelled in creating a warm, inviting space, and while the presentation missed the mark, the overall dining experience still had its moments of culinary pleasure. Would we return? Possibly, but next time we’ll know to adjust our expectations when it comes to the visuals.“

The salad was fresh and had great acidity to it. The tacos were crunchy with great mouthfeel and were absolutely yummy.

My only gripe was with the service! It was horrible. The hostess/waitress was rude as soon as we stepped through the door. I had to flag down staff each time we needed something. The food is pretty perfect. We had the bread, Caesar salad, meatballs, trout and skirt steak. All were perfect. The bread is crusty, so moist and paired with the butter is so good. When planning the trip, Colonie caught my eye so we decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did, because it quickly turned into the absolute highlight of our trip and was an evening we won’t forget. The service is outstanding - each individual host made us feel like family. We were never short beverages, and our space at the chefs table was kept tidy at all times - no empty plates left behind. The sous chefs are impossibly talented at what they do and gave every single plate attention and care before it left their sight. And lastly, the Chef is a true artist and extremely kind, humble person. We were delighted when he walked over to pay a visit as it was our anniversary dinner. The food is layered with exquisite, complimentary flavors that are refined and articulate but also make these dishes relatable, familiar, and remarkable at the same time. As a couple traveling foodies, I can without a doubt say this is one meal you don’t want to miss when you visit NYC. I’m just waiting to visit again and see a Michelin star outside the entrance. “Went on a whim and I’m glad I did. They have an amazing selection of German and American micro brewed beer plus some awesome happy hour prices. If you live in the area or commonly come to Greenpoint, make Torst a stop on your travels. Friendly staff and reasonable prices make this a must visit for any beer and wine aficionado in your life. You won’t regret it!“

“The waiter said they were known for their handmade pastas which were beautiful but truthfully underwhelming. I really enjoyed my fish and their wine pairings. We did the math on the préfixe and depending on what you order it’s actually cheaper to go a la carte.“
