Xi An Gourmet Reviews
I was in Buffalo for a business trip and found this place on Google maps. I am very impressed with the food. I ordered the sliced beef noodle soup to go and it was very delicious. The sandwiches were also tasty. The meal was reasonably priced.
I would love to try more next time. The garlic chicken was good
I love authentic Chinese food and seek it out when traveling. So, when in the area recently I did some research and this place came up as being probably the most authentic in the Buffalo and Niagara areas, so I went for lunch. Sure enough, their menu is legit, filled with many of the recognizable delicacies you won’t find at the ordinary Chinese-American joints.

Xi An Gourmet is a cozy spot for a warm and comfortable meal. The menu offers a good selection of dishes, including stir-fried noodles, scallion pancakes, spring rolls, and shrimp lo mein, all at a reasonable price with large portions. Popular dishes like fried tomato and egg, and beef brisket stew with potatoes are flavorful and savory. The restaurant also features Northwestern Chinese dishes such as Da Pan Ji (chicken served in a big plate) and Big Plate Chicken (大盘鸡), which is prepared excellently with marinated chicken, stewed potatoes, and wide, hand-pulled noodles soaked in a rich, spicy sauce. The food often features dry peppers, herbs, and spices, offering bold, earthy flavors that are satisfying and multi-layered.
The service is efficient, and the owner is super friendly, providing extra items like vinegar and homemade chili paste to enhance the experience. Customers have noted that the restaurant is very cheap, with most dishes costing around $20 or less, and large portions make it a good value. While the restaurant is quite small and can have long wait times during rush hour, many find the authentic northwestern Chinese flavors well worth it. Overall, Xi An Gourmet is a great place to enjoy delicious, authentic food, and the friendly atmosphere, especially the chili paste, adds to its charm.
