“Saturday evening dinner without a reservation. Walking in, my eyes immediately gravitated to the pictures of the owners and the many celebrities that have eaten and visited there before. The bar area is very nice and large, with TVs playing sports and news. We were greeted, welcomed and seated immediately. The dining area is very large and decorous. The tables large enough to sit us all. My cousin-in-law and his family frequent the restaurant and he practically knows everyone there, so as we sat, we were introduced to the owners and pretty much about a half dozen waiters and other staff members. All were extremely friendly and welcoming. As expected with all family style restaurants, the tables are very close to one another but positioned in a way that still allowed for ample space for you to move and sit comfortably. When we sat, there were hardly any people there, but within an hour it was full of patrons and large families. It was loud, but manageable. The food was unbelievably delicious. I haven't had true traditional family style Italian food in a long time. From the Fried Calamari and cold antipasto appetizers, to our Veal Parmigiana, Penne allá Vodka with Shrimp and prosciutto entrees. Paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon Palermo Napa, I truly enjoyed my meal. I haven't enjoyed food this good in a long time. My girls shared a huge plate of Chicken fingers and fries, and they loved it. “My mom and I grabbed some coffee here on Friday afternoon and were very happy with what we got! Our two small lattes with regular whole milk were absolutely perfect. There wasn't even any need for sugar because the coffee was so smooth and rich, not bitter at all. The lattes were also hot but not scalding, so we could drink them right away. Inside, the shop is very bright and lacks any kind of seating area (apart from a bench by the window) because it's not so much a cafe as it is a grab-and-go coffee counter. This didn't bother us since there are many places to sit down by the water, but still it's something to be aware of. The baristas were super chill and had our drinks ready in no time, even with the growing line of people waiting for their afternoon coffee. Next time I'm here, I'm definitely buying a bag of coffee grounds to brew at home. This is such a lovely and efficiently operated place to get great quality coffee. Sally was very accommodating and made helpful suggestions regarding the sweetness level. The grapefruit “K-fruit” did not taste artificial and it had real fruit pulp. In fact, it's one of less than a handful of coffee shops/cafes on LI that even CARE about serving coffee. The coffee is expertly roasted(not a single bean over medium to be found, which is how its supposed to be) and the drinks are expertly crafted. One of the best lattes I've ever had. They constantly get new coffees in stock and get back favorites all the time. My wife and I get coffee delivered to our house upstate every couple of weeks. The food is great as well; the breakfast tacos and everything biscuit are awesome. While the coffee served at the establishment I am about to discuss, is excellent, there is something extra about it that places it in a category of its own. I have been frequenting the Starbucks at Long Island University CW Post every Sunday for the last two years. "The Long Island Youth Orchestra" holds its rehearsals at the university and one of my children is in the orchestra. The Starbucks is located in the Hollywood Commons building. while the Commons is big the Starbucks that is tucked into the distant corner near the theater is not a particularly large. There is seating for a quick bite or to sip a cup of excellent Joe, however, when classes are in session, seats are at a premium. What stands out about this particular Starbucks is the team of baristas and the excellent manager that leads the team. Throughout the two years I have been a patron of this Starbucks, I have seen the baristas navigate long lines of coffee buyers without a hitch. I have also witnessed persnickety and downright rude patrons be dealt with civilly and effectively by the manager. The team of baristas and the store manager are a credit to the brand name. In addition, to all this, the pour over Blond is an excellent choice for a simple cup of coffee, not to strong but full bodied. The coffee is served hot and with a smile. I recommend this coffee shop when visiting the campus, the coffee is excellent and the service is stellar.“

Upon reaching out to let them know, I was informed that they were already sending a replacement order to the other customer and I could keep the tea. I often receive small sample packets when I order tea (from many companies) and what really struck me was that the folks at Clipper Ship make informed suggestions with their tea samples! “Came here for a quick lunch during my break. After moving to Long Island it is quite difficult to find a Spanish restaurant. I found this restaurant on google. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted. There are some people behind the counter that speak English but they speak mostly Spanish. I do speak Spanish, but it was good to know that there are other people that can speak English, because I wanted to share this restaurant with my colleagues at work and they do not speak Spanish. Everyone was friendly, kind, and helpful. I ordered the special of the day which was caldo de res (beef soup)- there is an option to order it "Complete" which comes with rice topped with beef stew, macaroni salad, and plantain. I got a Colombiana soda to go with it and it was perfect!!! it was nice, clean, bright inside and the bakery is to die for. I didn't get to take pictures of the empanadas and pan de queso I bought, but it's a MUST have. I would love to try their cakes next time, it looked so good!! they have a whole pastry/bread section. All so delicious...and healthy! What was interesting to learn is that none of the smoothies are made with milk, only water and the protein powder!The consistency of the smoothies was perfect: not very thick, not watery. Crystal told us that they are meant to be meal replacements and should therefore keep one full for 2-3 hours.
