“Saturday evening dinner without a reservation. Walking in, my eyes immediately gravitated to the pictures of the owners and the many celebrities that have eaten and visited there before. The bar area is very nice and large, with TVs playing sports and news. We were greeted, welcomed and seated immediately. The dining area is very large and decorous. The tables large enough to sit us all. My cousin-in-law and his family frequent the restaurant and he practically knows everyone there, so as we sat, we were introduced to the owners and pretty much about a half dozen waiters and other staff members. All were extremely friendly and welcoming. As expected with all family style restaurants, the tables are very close to one another but positioned in a way that still allowed for ample space for you to move and sit comfortably. When we sat, there were hardly any people there, but within an hour it was full of patrons and large families. It was loud, but manageable. The food was unbelievably delicious. I haven't had true traditional family style Italian food in a long time. From the Fried Calamari and cold antipasto appetizers, to our Veal Parmigiana, Penne allá Vodka with Shrimp and prosciutto entrees. Paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon Palermo Napa, I truly enjoyed my meal. I haven't enjoyed food this good in a long time. My girls shared a huge plate of Chicken fingers and fries, and they loved it. My friend got a grapefruit “K-fruit” and I got a combination of cookies & cream AND dulce de leche BOBA. It was my first time ordering and I was surprised that I could mix flavors. Sally was very accommodating and made helpful suggestions regarding the sweetness level. The grapefruit “K-fruit” did not taste artificial and it had real fruit pulp. In fact, it's one of less than a handful of coffee shops/cafes on LI that even CARE about serving coffee. The coffee is expertly roasted(not a single bean over medium to be found, which is how its supposed to be) and the drinks are expertly crafted. One of the best lattes I've ever had. They constantly get new coffees in stock and get back favorites all the time. My wife and I get coffee delivered to our house upstate every couple of weeks. “I came in here to text my mom and a friend because there was a creepy guy a block away flirting with me and asking for my number (he looked around my dad’s age), and the owner was really nice and let me sit. I decided to buy a cookie (the oval ones with jelly inside and chocolate at the top) and she gave it to me for free!! “I'm glad my neighbors told me about Center Coffee! I thought it was a coffee shop but it's really an old school Greek diner!You walk in and pick your own table. The waitress will ask you what you would like to drink and will bring out your coffee with a glass of milk in like 2 minutes! I ordered pancakes with eggs over easy and bacon. It was out in about 5 minutes! Hot, fresh, and good portions too!They are cash only but have an ATM in the back. I believe their hours are 6am to 3pm so if you're looking for a quick breakfast or lunch, then this is the place! Can't beat the prices either! I found my regular brunch spot!“
“I recently ordered some tea from Clipper Ship. It arrived without issue, but through a glitch with their packing label printer, I also wound up with another customer’s order by mistake. Upon reaching out to let them know, I was informed that they were already sending a replacement order to the other customer and I could keep the tea. Beyond their great customer service and fast response time, I want to point out their attention to detail. I often receive small sample packets when I order tea (from many companies) and what really struck me was that the folks at Clipper Ship make informed suggestions with their tea samples! They are not just providing sachets of teas they’re hoping to promote; they consider what you ordered and provide you with samples that match your tastes! I’d ordered a toasted sesame tea and received dessert tea samples. The other order that arrived was for wellness tisanes, and so they included similar white and herbal samples.
