“We stopped here randomly on our way back from the Hamptons to New Jersey and we had one of the best service experiences we have ever had at a restaurant. Our server was personally invested in making sure we had the best experience in any restaurant ever!

The menu is all Indian with lots of non-veg and vegetarian options. They offered to customize anything on the menu we wished for and made food without onion garlic for me. The food was very fresh and tasty. We ordered Alleppey fish curry and Palak Paneer with Kerala Poratta. Rice was complimentary.

I highly recommend this place if you happen to be in the area.“

“Just have to give a quick shoutout to Hard Bean on Merrick Ave. Victor and his wife Elise opened 10 days ago just north of the train station. My fiancé and I were talking to the owners and learned that opening a coffee shop was Victor’s dream. After working at his previous career for almost 30 years, he retired and opened this place. It’s charming inside and the coffee is delicious and less expensive than *$s. They are literally a mom and pop shop and after spending some time there I wanted to post to support and recommend Hard Bean to all the locals.“

The drinks come faster than the food so if there is a line the wait may be a little bit. They also have Tea and Matcha. Nice coffee shop music. Ordered the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. Buddy got the Thai Tea and did not particularly enjoy it.“

From the black and white checkered floor to the murals on the walls, the vintage looking tables and chairs to the fun gelato display case (which was nice and low for little ones to be able to choose from) the decorated garage door which let in so much light to the retro cola display fridge, everything was so well thought out and just a lot of fun. “I always want to support new, local businesses, so I've been here twice since it opened. The location is great, the interior is nice, and the staff is certainly friendly enough. The only real problem is the service. The infrastructure doesn't support the volume of business that this shop is attracting. Waiting 20+ minutes for a simple ice coffee doesn't cut it, especially at the high prices that I know they have to charge in order to afford the rent in Roslyn Village. They don't really have the space for more coffee making equipment, so perhaps the solution is that enough people will eventually avoid the long wait and take their business elsewhere, thus decreasing demand and wait times. Not my preferred solution, but we'll see where it goes!“
