“We recently had lunch in Rhinebeck, but my husband was determined to try Aba’s. After eating a modestly sized lunch elsewhere, we walked around and managed to get here right as they were closing, although they were polite enough to serve us. My husband got a falafel pita and I stupidly just got a few falafel. The falafel itself was probably the best I’ve ever had; they were incredibly flavorful, not dry at all, and with a bit of crunch. My husband’s falafel pita was divine. The falafel combined with everything inside and the sauces made me fairly jealous that I did not get one myself. The food was delicious and we appreciated the service and this will be our go to spot for this kind of food.”

“A true hidden gem. From the food to the service you will forget the essence of the atmosphere and remember not to judge a book by it's cover.Parking: Plenty of parking as you follow the parking signs.”

“Food was excellent, great menu of offerings, the shrink cocktail and cocktail sauce was incredible. The cod and clams dish was super delicious and would recommend. Whipped Cod starter was okay.Cocktails were great, attempted to order off menu cocktails and the bar struggled to replicate and in addition to that the bar was overall slow. Anywhere from 15-30 mins to get a single drink. Overall really loved this restaurant and the atmosphere.”

“Came here for the first time. Will definitely be coming back. Really cute place, excellent service, nice people, lovely atmosphere. Enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. Recommend the chipotle bowl with the crispy chicken. The flourless chocolate cake and latte were excellent, too.”

“Great owner and amazing pizza! Was on a trip with my wife to Rhinebeck for a spa weekend at the Mirbeau and we saw that Dave visited Posto and gave a great score, so we had to try it! Pizza was delicious! I definitely think Dave underscored it! Patrick the owner is super friendly and we got talking about all the great pizza in the northeast. Definitely recommend when you’re around Rhinebeck and I’ll be stopping my on my future trips to Albany.”

“Bia was an awesome experience! The crab bisque was really delicious, great size, and nothing like I’ve had before. The owner Kyle was lovely and welcoming. Definitely one of the best places in Rhinebeck to get a cocktail! And the bar burger deal is awesome and delicious. Would totally recommend !!!”
“The last several flavors on the menu are always vegan. My daughter loves the Darkest Chocolate, which seems to be perennially available. Would be great to see a larger selection of vegan/plant-based flavors.Their ice cream is on the sweeter side. Personally, I’d be happy with less sugar.Expect a line, especially on warm evenings.”

“Great little spot for some American cuisine and draft beer. I had biscuits and gravy, and my wife had the chorizo burrito, both were fantastic. We also were able to sit on the covered, heated porch with our dog!”

“Quality teas and boba. Not too sweet and fresh as the store name proclaims. I noticed the online menu isn't always the same as the in store so be wary if you're ordering to pick-up, you could be missing out on some flavors. I think I stop here any time I'm passing through Rhinebeck. I call it the boba toll ?”
“We love it there! The ambience is so warm ,& love the music when it's there, unclear about the availability of snacks?.. . A mixture of all types and ages which is the best . We can have a great time and so can our adult kids. We'll be back!”

“Any authority I might claim to knowledge of authenticity (of the feeling of being included in the ambience of an original (now vintage) train car, is spurious. My wish in this review, however, is to present a candid assessment of the Historic Village Diner with special reference to the 5 star rating I bestowed on the atmosphere afforded to the patrons of this eldritch eatery for it is a truism in my life that the edible fare has sat low—insofar as I comprehend the semiotics of totem poles—on the totem pole. I had a very special time here, once, with a very special person. As complicated feedback loops began to communicate an acute sense of our bodies literally dissolving, we confronted the possibility that we would need to read the menu and delegate the preparation of particular items therein described. The food arrived, was dispatched, and somewhere in there the check flutttttterrrrredddd down like the maiden leaf of autumn. Of all the objects and information on display throughout the diner, the bill was the least afflicted with nostalgia for it was determinedly unruly in its evident access to inflation. I won’t label it ‘high’ but merely, say, an impressive and inarguable rebuttal to one’s internalized assumptions as to the value of those victuals. It was the one seeming anachronism in this place otherwise so encysted and preserved from another era. The food was pure diner, recipes as old as the short order method itself and though I might never again return here, I would ask of the reader that they ask themselves if they would risk feeling the sensations that I and my special companion experienced in the presence of an imperfect simulacrum.”
“Pro : I enjoyed the beautiful aesthetic of this place. The place is a modernize architecture in a rural upstate NY. I went with a friend of mines & she enjoyed her flight of beer/cider.Con: me & my friend got there at 730ish on Friday night closing at 8. The bar tender took our order as the last round and provided us with the bill on the iPad & paid. At no point did the bartender ask of we were enjoying our beer or if it was first time there. she seemed annoyed that we even showed up at 730. She didn't speak to us after providing the beer, she seemed in rush to shut the place down. I wish the customer service was better. With that being said I'd go again because of the quality of the cider/beer and the ambiance was nice was but not customer service”

“What a fabulous place! Great food, reasonable prices and wonderful waiter named Jeremy. A friend introduced me to Mazi a few weeks ago and we returned recently. Meals are HUGE so there’s always leftovers for lunch the next day. It’s the ideal place to eat before or after a performance at Bard College or a movie at Upstate in Rhinebeck.”

“We love this local place. It's really more of take out as only a couple tables, but the food tastes incredible and the portions are great. Everyone in the family loves it and I can even get my little kids to clean their plates! Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, rice and beans, and mango chicken.”

“Just found this place. Was looking for German place that served pork hock. Did not disappoint. Chef seems to have a heavier hand with salt than I do. But the beer took care of that. Overall, everything was well done. Will keep in mind if looking for German food.”

“I’ve heard for many years this place was good and my sister and I just had the opportunity to try it. It’s authentic and most importantly fresh. The Japanese owners are very nice.I’m particularly critical of Asian food as it is something I grew up with. As a Japanese American I have to say this is the best sushi place I’ve been to upstate. I’ve tried a few places in the area and hands down Hana Sushi is the best. Can’t wait to take my Japanese father here!”

“As you enter, the unmistakable smell of burning wood hits your senses. Reminded me of Posada de la Villa in Madrid (which has been in operation since 1642). Plenty of dishes on the menu are cooked in wooden oven. Excellent ham and cheese appetizers. I believe this is a farm to table concept.”

“Excellent, traditional NY oven pizza in a classic upstate setting. It is better than other pie joints around because they have great quality veggie options - eggplant, spinach, onion, garlic. Great for pick up for us locals who don’t want to drive into Hudson and are seeking traditional za instead of fancy pants brick oven style pizza.”
“The four of us had a wonderful evening at the Universal Cafe last night. Dinner was absolutely delicious, creatively composed, and I can’t wait to return. Located in Germantown, NY only 30 minutes away from Rhinebeck, it’s a hidden gem that was the perfect spot on a cold Winter’s night. I started my meal with thinly sliced sweet Cara Cara oranges on a pool of peppery olive oil with crushed pistachios served ice cold… so refreshing after the decadent pâté appetizer. My cod entree was beautifully cooked and served with a silky root vegetable purée. The chocolate pot de crème finished the meal and was so good. The portions were generous, the prices very reasonable, and our server was super charming. Thank you for a wonderful night!”

“WOW! "The Cabo" is their take on Avocado Toast & it is DELICIOUS to the MAX. The spicy guac on the toast is a nice added element to this delectable creation. It was full of flavor & crafted beautifully. I WILL be back & look forward to trying more of their delicious menu, possibly a smoothie next. The culture in the team that works there is full of LIFE!”

“Absolutely hands down one of our favorite places now! We were just passing through and the restaurant caught our eye so we decided to stop on our way home. So glad we did.The woman who took our order was lovely. I believe she was the owner as we chatted about how long they've been there. Their food is unique and has fun names!I got the Mexican burger with bacon, waffle fries, and a drink. Hubs got the Cowboy burger with sweet potato fries, and a drink. The flavor is out of this world. The atmosphere is so fun -- a juke box, retro decor, a more private area good for families with kids games. Great ambiance. We were both happy with our choices and will definitely be back with the kids!!”
