“Cool places. I'm into local dive bars and that's exactly what this place is but everyone there was pretty nice. The bartender Hector is a good buy and pretty funny as well. I will definitely go back to this bar when I am in the area. I definitely recommend it.“

Loved this local bar — the vibe was friendly, open, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The bartender was attentive, prices were decent, and the space was clean with a nice mix of high tables in the back and low tables up front. A handful of locals were gathered around the bar, which added to the charm.
We were really glad to find this spot especially when it started raining on the beach. It was a rainy Friday midday, not busy at all, and we genuinely enjoyed ourselves.
Definitely recommend stopping in for a drink. Looking forward to coming back whenever we’re in the neighborhood!“

“I have been a customer of Austin’s Ale House for many years, I know them well they know me well. This year I decided to give the excellent and highly favored family cooking team a break and had Austin’s Ale House cater our Christmas Dinner. I went with the ham dinner for 10 to feed 7 people🤣. The ordering was done with ease and so was the pick up. The family did a preliminary tasting...... LOVED .IT and whatever we have left after the “taste test” will have to serve as our Christmas Dinner. Since the taste test was so aggressive we may need to supplement what’s left with a few cheese omelets 🤣. We enjoyed it so much there was much talk about it becoming the new family tradition. THANK YOU AUSTIN’S ALE HOUSE AND MEREY CHRISTMAS........ PS I’m going to need one of those backyard igloos in a day or so. See you then 🎄❤️“

“Place has a very local dive feel. Came across this place in search for good wing spots in Nassau, a journey I've been at for a while now. Price for the quantity and quality was very fair ($15 for 10 wings.) These were some of the best wings I've had in a long time after many places tried. The bartender told us we'd like them and he was not wrong. Spicy BBQ were really good and not overpoweringly BBQ flavor. Wings were a nice size and delicious. Seating is limited but the place is a small storefront and the Knicks playoff game was on. Will definitely come back here!“

“This place is straight out of Norman Rockwell with the old-fashioned ceilings the naughty wood pine, outstanding food down home people and just a great place for a Friday night drink and a nice comfort food although the food is underrated it's really good. “The Snug and City Island Diner are true local treasures. They’re owned by the same wonderful people and share a kitchen, but each has its own vibe and hours — and together they’re unbeatable.
The fully loaded chili here is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. It’s rich, hearty, perfectly seasoned, and also shows up in their nachos, which makes them next-level comfort food.
One of my favorite things? They have a secret menu (no longer advertised) with specialty grilled cheese sandwiches and specialty hot dogs — and we absolutely love it. The Tuscan Melt (no onion) is perfection, and the Reuben Dog is unforgettable. With the hot dogs you get two, and you can mix and match styles, which is such a fun and generous touch.
At The Snug, my go-to drink is a black & tan, which pairs perfectly with the cozy, neighborhood pub feel. Over at the diner, my favorite dish is the Corned Beef Hash breakfast — classic, satisfying, and done exactly right.
Beyond the food, what really sets these places apart is the people. Every server is genuinely kind, welcoming, and deeply plugged into the City Island community. You feel like a regular even on your first visit.

“Me and my wife went for the Super Bowl and the food was awesome the only thing that surpassed the food was the warmth and friendliness of the owners and staff as well as fellow patrons. I highly recommend this place for anyone who want to have a great night out.“

“I absolutely love this place! The food and drinks are AMAZING (Philly cheesesteak Bao Buns are a must, as is the Henny Colada Slushie), the music is on point and the staff is attentive! “On of my favorites. It gets crazy during the summer as there is limited seating. But winter is also gorgeous. Beautiful views of the water, wildlife and sunset. The soup is always delicious, lobster roll extremely generous and the linguini and clams is out of this world. The portions are right for the price and the local beer is a nice touch. Service is always extremely friendly. During the summer I love the mudslides and sitting in the water during the day!“

“Today I went to The Clubhouse for the first time. It was a beautiful day so I wanted to go to a restaurant where we could dine outdoors. My spouse, son, and I had four out of four wonderful entrees for brunch and amazing service from Jamie. Jamie was very helpful with the menu choices and her service was impeccable. We enjoyed the food, service, and ambience so much. I highly recommend The Clubhouse and a game of mini golf as well. Thanks a million Jamie!!“

“This is a great spot to get some delicious wings and cold beers! Watch sports, talk to new people, catch a live band! Make sure you go on Saturday night to see James behind the bar! He's not just great for beers and conversation, He can make any cocktail you want! (Low key date night with ALL the sports??) James (Jimmy) will soon become a familiar friend. Or just go after work to unwind with a few beers and some folks you worked hard with that day. Go go go! (And the owner is an awesome guy) Lets support this joint!“
