Flynn's Garden Inn Pubs • $
46-08 Skillman Ave, Long Island City

“What a GREAT cash only LOCAL bar indeed!!!..Classic old school Queens bar, perfectly lit with fun and varied theme nights and a really cool vibe. Great bartenders and very reasonably priced ($7 Jameson). I definitely DO NOT classify this as a "dive bar", to me a "dive bar" has a certain innate smell, layer of filth and edge/danger (which I like at certain times). Flynn's is better than a "dive bar" because it has all that you would want from a dive bar and nothing that you would not.....“

Irish Rover Irish Pub • $

“This bar is seriously my favorite pub. The bar tenders are responsive and conversational amd with most bartenders there are generous buy-backs. The patrons are kind, fun and conversational. I drink a bit, and am loyal to the place where shane McGowan was a regular in recent times past. Ask for aron, eric, or robbie and these blokes will treat you right.“

Mc Loughlin Astoria Bar Bar • $

“a irish bar on broadway in astoria thats not fancy , not loud. not filled with morons and a chill place to watch the game and relax. came in with my buddy to watch the nets game and i aint a booze drinker but one bud light and a bunch of diet cokes while sitting at a long wooden bar with a bunch of tvs all around will work just fine. no food but bring your own is ok , outdoor back patio is empty cause its cold and rainy but better weather is coming soon . a pool table and dart board if sports tv watching is not your thing . i like this place as the casual vibe is the complete opposite of the loud douchey dives i avoid and the drinks are priced right , bartenders are friendly and crowd is civil . 4 stars on my yelp meter.“

“After getting rebuffed for dinner at nearby places, decided to try our luck at this pub on a Sunday night. Plenty of seating at the bar and they were thankfully still serving food. Pretty basic menu of pub favorites and some beers on tap. Settled on the Philly Cheesesteak ($14) to go along with a Sam Adams ($7). Cheesesteak is a simple layering of roast beef, melted American cheese, and onions inside a toasted hero bun. Decent taste and surprisingly not dry. The handful of fries were fresh and not overly salted; going well with some ketchup. Bartender here was super nice and explained which items were still available on the menu (lots of thigs nixed on a Sunday). Would be a good spot for some quick food/drink while watching a game.“

“I always walked by and knew the name from living in Chicago. The iconic building always intrigued me and last night, I was lucky to find a table during peak dinner rush.I was guided to their newly rennovated 'Sidecar'. We sat upstairs and loved being able to look over 3rd avenue. The service was so attentive -- from being immediately greeted to the servers always offering to clear plates and offer new ones. I had the Cadillac burger and it came with a generous portion of french fries. The desserts surpassd expectation, i got the brownie sundae but learned the cheesecake and apple crisp are made in-house so I need to come back and try that.Shout out to my server Nicole and Marianna for making PJ Clarke's especially memorable and a new found staple in my dinner rotation in midtown.“

“Went here on a Saturday late night. It was crowded but we managed to get a seat in the back for two. Cozy and warm ambiance. Their cocktail was veryshort but very well priced. Helps with any indécision.I ordered the Gin lizzy which came out pretty strong. Like a sweet Manhattan. Something with the mix of ingredients the vanilla & almond syrup, passionfruit, lemon & bitters gave it an aftertaste that I can't quite pinpoint. However, I did enjoy my husband's drink the Watermelon Drugstore made with Ojo de tigre mezcal, watermelon, honey ginger syrup and lemon. Also enjoyed their version of a spicy margarita composed of espolon, lime, agave, contreau.I'm glad to be adding a new bar to my roster. And the prices here make them very appealing. “I absolutely love Jasper’s Tap House & Kitchen! Their Santa Fe chicken sandwich is a standout favorite of mine, worth crossing town for. The fries are divine, and the portion sizes are generous. The staff is also incredibly friendly and made the experience even more enjoyable. Can't wait for my next visit!“

“My number one go to spot in the neighborhood hands down. Everyone is family and friends, amazing atmosphere! If you are looking for a drink during the day then this is your place. When it comes to nightlife, pool table and music just is incredible. Make sure you visit this bar for sure. All bartenders are great and friendly every single time. You love sports, then this is your spot. There aren't many bars around any more in the neighborhood so definitely check Tee Dee's out!!“

“The perfect pub if you are in the desperate need of a quick pint. It's the definition of "fast drink" instead of "fast food" because sadly this place is lacking of food or at least snacks but I think it's the concept of this place to only serve drinks and I have to say they are doing that on the best level.“

Standings Bar • $$

“I love this place. I spent a couple nights over NFL Wildcard weekend this year watching the games. Great small town bar vibes, excellent for watching the games (especially on the Monday night, when it was much quieter than Saturday). Great barmen, no music and friendly clientele. You can order in your own food too.“

“Great spot for your 20s if you live on the UES. Came here quite a bit when I was younger. They have beer pong and I’d say its a classed up sports bar. My friend met her husband here years ago. The food here is decent American bar food but nothing crazy. When it does get busy and really packed here the service can suffer and it can be difficult to get a drink.“
