“You have to try the Korean Fried Broccoli OMG! I’m a stickler for steak so I usually have the Steak and fried egg. If you like it rare like me just ask for it black n blue.“

“Great neighborhood tavern in Red Hook that we stumbled across while visiting family. The staff were so friendly. The blueberry cornbread was amazing, and they turned up the volume on the TV when Jeopardy came on. Love this place.“

“Best fries ever! The burgers use to be good... Idk if the changed management or workers but, definitely not the same as a year ago when I first came here. Vegetables are not fresh & not enough quantity. I had to ask for a good amount of veggies on my burger since the last time I went there all they gave me was a leaf of lettuce (the core!) & 3 strips of onions. Ps Spicy mayo sauce is good“

“I just recently moved back to Bay Ridge after years away. Going into Bean Post I was welcomed and felt right at home on my 1st visit. The Food is fantastic and the mixed drinks they know how to pour them in Brooklyn. They offer fantastic meals especially there Thanksgiving meals you can pick up. My girlfriend had major surgery about 2 weeks ago. It was not possible for us to cook a Thanksgiving meal. WE ordered 2 Thanksgiving meals and the portions were amazing and a value we could not find anywhere else. The Turkey Dinners we purchased and the joy we had sharing Thanksgiving together with our dinners from Bean Post made it a Wonderful Holiday. We are now looking forward to ordering Christmas dinners from Anthony and his family. They treated us well. THANK YOU!“

“Received this note.
Hi Sebastian. Wasn't planning on using your email, but I think we may have had a burger mix-up! I fear that you received one without cheese when you had in fact paid for extra cheese! Is this the case? If so I do apologize and we will make it right in the way of a refund and many beers on your next visit.
My reply was:
Burger had cheese and extra cheese and was delicious. Appreciate the follow up and offer. I will happily keep paying for beers!
The point is everyone is proud of working there. It’s clear. Strong leadership, amazing crew and great product.
Love that place.“

“Came in with a friend who used to be a local. He had set the bar high but I had an even better time than I thought I would. Was packed but didn’t seem crowded, clean, good seating and the overall setup is really cool. Then I realized there was an entire back room- we posted up on the high top booth for hours and had a great time. If I was local I would absolutely live here.“

“Great food and a really welcoming atmosphere! Cory was super friendly and the burgers (including my veggie burger!) and fries were some of tbe best we've ever had! I was traveling with my high school age kid and his friends and Cory made us all feel welcome which I really appreciated! Highly recommend!“
“Wu Lou Lounge is one of those spots that feels a little sketchy when you first pull up, but that’s part of the charm. It’s old school, unpretentious and very much its own vibe.
Security is thorough and effective. Be prepared for a full pat down and bag check, even at 5pm for happy hour. They take it seriously. The staff is cool in that classic NYC way. Not Southern hospitality sweet, but warm, direct and welcoming.
The food is fresh, tasty, piping hot and highly affordable, $.60cent wings on Tuesday. Definitely a strong point. Drinks come in smaller cups, but they start at $5, which is unheard of these days. It’s also one of the last remaining spots that still allows indoor smoking, if that’s your thing.
The music is solid and keeps the energy up. The crowd is fun, outgoing, and far from stiff or bougie. This is not a fancy baller lounge, so dress and move accordingly. You don’t need anything shiny or expensive to have a good time here (wink wink leave the bling & mink coat home). Just come ready to enjoy yourself.
If you’re looking for polished and upscale, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for authentic, affordable and a good time with personality, Wu Lou delivers. This is classic Brooklyn, before gentrification and redevelopment.“
“My husband and I walked in here last night on a whim and walked into a birthday celebration for the manager. We were treated like family. This bar is wonderful. The bartenders, the music, the people, and the drinks. Don’t pass the place by!! Maria and Al, we will most definitely be coming back! Thank you for a fun evening! ❤️“

“Came for the Knicks game. Food and service were great. Their Espresso martini was delicious . If you ask me it’s the best sports bar in Brooklyn. Kudos to the person choosing play list postgame . Loved it. Going to make it my World Cup headquarters and apparently great place for NFL.“
“Great chill spot with chill bartenders and other patrons. Single cash payment pool table is amazing. Two fun old school game machines. Always cool and never hot inside during these summer days. Today is almost 90 degrees and it's nice inside of Denny's! One large big screen TV's on the opposite side of the bar and two medium sized TV's facing the bar which are all great and perfectly placed. Cool dart board game available as well. Atm machine that always comes in clutch for me as this is a cash only bar which is my preferred method of payment anyways at bars. In addition to the great atmosphere they sell delicious pretzels, pizz, a great selection of beer with the Lagunitas IPA in a chilled glass from a perfectly temperatured tap as my go to and a great liquor selection. Bringing outside food is very welcomed as well.“

“We recently hosted a baby shower for our daughter and son-in-law at Lavender Lake, with 65 of our closest friends and family, and it was absolutely perfect.
The staff were incredible from start to finish—so helpful during set-up and consistently attentive to our guests throughout the event. They made everything feel seamless and stress-free.
The food was delicious, and the team did a wonderful job keeping everything fresh and fully stocked. At the end, they even provided containers so guests could take home leftovers, which was such a thoughtful touch.
I highly recommend Lavender Lake for any special event—or even just a lovely evening out!“
“This bar has a dart board, Touch Tunes and a back yard. Drinks are not expensive. I Love this spot.“

“Union Hall is one of the best venues we have ever performed at. Not only is it a fun and charming place, the staff are super hospitable, friendly, and accommodating. From planning to execution, Nora and Neel were very courteous and helpful. On the day of, Erin, Neel, and even the security guard Danny let us in an hour before our contract stated and helped us get set up early. Nothing but compliments and recommendations for these guys!“

“Allegedly an Arsenal bar, but also a bit of a scene; full of soft, casual fans. The kind of place an opposition fan would feel comfortable watching a match while wearing their kit. Is footie fandom to be gentrified, like everything else in Brooklyn?“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

“I stopped in to have a couple of drinks prior to going to see the Christmas lights in the neighborhood.
This is such a great little cash only dive bar in Dyker Heights. My bartender (whom I didn't get his name) was fast and friendly. I got a couple of Bloody Mary's as that is one of my main cocktails, and they were very simple and tasted great.
I really liked the vibe of this bar where it wasn't too noisy with loud music. They also have several TVs displayed if you want to watch a game.
The prices for drinks are super cheap as my Bloody Mary's only costs $8. As far as food goes, I believe the only food offering they have is pizza.
Overall, I definitely like this place, and I will most certainly stop in again for a drink or two or three the next time I am in the area.“

“Amazing bar with a perfect smash burger and beer plus fries. We wandered in off the street hungry and tired on a Tuesday and it was just what we needed! Authentic local Brooklyn experience. If I lived here, I would be a regular! Mark, the bartender, was extraordinary and the music was epic.“

“Been coming here for over 10 years. Prices are reasonable and bartenders are friendly. Generally draws an older crowd but there's usually a mix. There's a dartboard, jukebox and several tvs. Doesn't serve food but outside food is allowed.“

“The atmosphere here is immaculate, even when it is crowded. It feels like you're in a more interesting and playful version of an old English pub. Tons of seating options and a great back patio. My friend wanted to host a party here and the staff were incredibly obliging. One of my favorite neighborhood spots by far and their happy hour drinks are delicious! Make sure to catch their trivia on Tuesdays at 8 pm!“

“North Pole Pub is a good spot to hang out before a Liberty game or any event at Barclays. It’s usually not too crowded, so you can easily grab a seat, have a drink, and catch some sports on the big screen. They’ve got good beer-and-shot combos and even serve herring, a fun touch you don’t see everywhere.
Overall, it’s a laid-back, unpretentious bar that’s great for a pre-game stop or a quiet drink if you’re in the neighborhood.“

“Solid pub vibes with good food. Great summer oysters! Generally a good stop for semi-upscale dining that’s comforting. It’s especially nice to sit outside on a warm day. The cocktails do not disappoint and the beer menu is good too. Really can’t go wrong stopping here.“

“I had to take one star off for food because I can no longer get my deviled egg craving sated here. It’s not their fault.
—Our economy is the best it’s ever been. Such a good economy. How lucky are we to live in such a great economy.—
Aside from that utter failing, I can honestly say that The Starlight feels like a second home. It’s warm, divey, the barstools are just the right amount of uncomfortable. As you’re fidgeting, you get the attention of the best bartenders in Brooklyn. You get people who fall in love with you and care about your life. You get served a beer and a shot and a side of compassion for whatever you are going through the night you happen to show up.
Anthony and Leia are the OGs. My heart gets happy when I walk in the door and see their faces. And admittedly, though I can’t list their names, every other bartender I’ve met here has made space for me and been some good craic.
If you find yourself stumbling around the Metro L/G stop, come in. Meet some friends, have some drinks. The Starlight is more than worth your time.“
