Threes Brewing Brewery • $$

“We’ve had the pleasure of working with Zack and the Threes team on two occasions. For the VES NY afternoon summer bash they were our beverage sponsor and delivered beer to an off-site venue and then hosted our after-party at the Threes outdoor beer garden.

When it came time to plan our VES NY winter membership mixer, we immediately contacted Threes. Zack, Ioana, and David on the events team are incredibly professional, personable, and organized, making the planning process easy and seamless.

On site, the event ran smoothly and our guests enjoyed incredible hospitality, great food and an exceptional drink selection.

We highly recommend Threes Brewing for any event needs!!“

We did the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was a complete no brainer. Every course was excellent and thoughtfully paired. Easily one of the best dining experiences we have had in years. Do not overthink it. Just go. A solid 10 out of 10. We will be back very soon. Thank you!!!“

“Im a local and have been coming to Bernie’s for some years now and have never left a review which I should have because the good is consistently delicious, served hot and customer service always has been on point.

Last night my reservation for a steakhouse in the city was cancelled so I went to my old faithful. Not a long wait at all and the host periodically checked in as he always does to give me updates and options if I didn’t want to wait for the bar seat. Everything was delicious as usual and the customer next to me was celebrating her birthday I said happy birthday and mentioned it was mines also.

The bartender asked if I wanted dessert and I declined but then she did the sweetest, most thoughtful thing and popped up with ice cream. she’s like you need to blow out a candle today. And also comped a glass of wine(I’m too elderly for shots) and let me tell you this birthday was nothing short of a disaster. which is why I was out eating alone. I was so touched by her kindness and the whole team honestly. It felt like I was just a friends having dinner. So thank you to the team at Bernie’s! See you soon ❤️ of“

“The food here is incredible - some of the best Japanese food in Brooklyn. However, the service can be quite slow depending on the night and the menus are a bit complicated to understand at first. There is a lot going on in the menu and the formatting is not consistent which leads to a lot of back & forth when navigating the menu.

The first time I visited last year there were absolutely no issues and I had a fantastic experience. However when I visited again a few weeks ago, I had to wait over 20-30 minutes just to place my food order and another 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive (but this is understandable given it is a small kitchen dealing with many orders).

The restaurant was busy but there were still several empty tables, but there was only 1 server. The server helped me to my seat quickly, but then started cleaning and doing other random tasks and chatting with others for a long time before even coming to me to ask me what I would like to order. Maybe it was just busier night than usual or this server was a new hire, but it was quite frustrating having to sit and wait for so long before even getting to place my order. The server seemed to be more concerned with cleaning tables for potential customers (who did not even show up) instead of the paying customer waiting right in front of him for so long. I even saw another customer literally have to get up from her table and walk up to the server to ask him to come to their table and place their order.

Anyways, the food was still really incredible and I had no issues once it came out, but the server seems to have completely different priorities instead of the paying customers who are actually at the restaurant. Maybe if he had some more assistance or if I came on another slow night he would not be so unfocused. But to his credit, he was apologetic about the wait at the end once I paid my bill.

I would definitely recommend the food here (the Veg Croquette Curry, Fried Garlic Chicken, and Chilled Ramen were fantastic), but this is not a place for a casual dinner as you will likely spend over an hour here.“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? Went in and it wasn’t busy and we were seated and several right away! Drinks came out minutes later. The pub has a decent menu and seating area but I can see it filing up quickly on regular days. I’d super highly recommend if you’re in the mood for American cuisine; burger and fries and drinks! Super fresh burgers and crispy fries. Grilled chicken was to die for! Let’s no forget the Mac and cheese: definitely get that too. The potato soup caught me off guard and so did the salad bc it was so yummy.“

Scrappleland Bar • $
1150 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn

“This review is for the pinball games only. First great selection of games. TWO Godzilla's! Pretty much all of my favorites (aside from rare games that I don't expect most places to have). Almost all of the games take dollar bills, so bring a stack of singles (a few games are quarters only). $1/game. It would be nice if they were 3 games for $2 as many places do.

There were some issues, however. First some Stern games were not configured or hooked up to the internet so you couldn't scan your QR code to keep track of your games. Some did work, so it seems they were just lazy on setting them up. Annoying, but not a deal breaker. Some games were not set up great, for example, Indiana Jones was so sensitive to nudging it made the game unplayable (if you play this game you know that you can nudge the game on the right drain to get it to bounce through the door to the flippers).

If they fix the maintenance/setup issues on the games I'd give this place 5 stars. As is it's a 3-4 star pinball place.“
