They just went along enthusiastically and we achieved our goal The special menu prepared by the chef was delicious, flavorful and plentiful. I cannot say enough about how magnificent the event was and how from the beginning to end all they want to do is please. The attendees have not stopped expressing how “perfect “ everything was. “Gold Star is the perfect neighborhood beer bar. It features an excellent rotating selection of brews served by friendly and knowledgeable barkeeps. The inside bar is chill with eclectic music wafting from the turntable. The sidewalk seating is my favorite place in Brooklyn to enjoy a cold beer on a nice day. “4/5 Stars – Great experience, but felt a bit rushed
Overall, we had a really nice time at this place. The atmosphere was pleasant, and everything we ordered tasted great.
However, the service was just a little *too* fast. The staff was incredibly attentive, but they started clearing dishes and taking plates from our table before we were completely finished. It made us feel a bit rushed to wrap up our meal.
Everything else was wonderful, but a little more breathing room between courses would make the experience perfect!“

“(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

“Sunday bartender Kate goes above and beyond. Not only did she make me laugh and feel welcome, she was instrumental in counseling me through a handful of unrelated amputations. The arduous story about how I lost my left foot on a Monday and then my right ear Thursday would sound dull to a less caring person, but not Kate. When I lost my left hand ring finger, she made a hilarious joke about how she didn’t want to marry me anyway. It broke the tension.
I’m beginning to sense I’m overstaying my welcome, and I want to be respectful, I just hope Kate knows how much she’s meant to me and my Sunday mornings.“

Good options on tap and a selection of NA as well. Would steer away from the pies or ask for them to be baked longer. The middle was cold and we've had better pies elsewhere. “Last minute decision and so happy my kids wanted burgers that night! We were parked minutes from the Williamsburg bridge after coming back from NYC. Went in and it wasn’t busy and we were seated and several right away! Drinks came out minutes later. The pub has a decent menu and seating area but I can see it filing up quickly on regular days. I’d super highly recommend if you’re in the mood for American cuisine; burger and fries and drinks! Super fresh burgers and crispy fries. Grilled chicken was to die for! Let’s no forget the Mac and cheese: definitely get that too. The potato soup caught me off guard and so did the salad bc it was so yummy.“

“I’ve been coming to Nook for about a year now. Some people do criticize the way that it’s always packed, but my dog & I have always managed to find a spot, & I actually enjoy the atmosphere of a packed house. It means lots of pets for my dog, meeting new people, & feeling unalone in the neighborhood! They have fantastic food, drinks, vibes, staff & always have things going on each night to get more involved. So far I’ve been to their jazz nights but know they have a book club, comedy, chess and more. It’s such a wonderful neighborhood gem. There’s lots of outdoor seating & there is some noise between chit chat & music on that isn’t too overbearing. It’s a great place to work from unless you need to hop on quiet video calls. Phone calls could easily be accepted outside. We love you, Nook!“

“My mom and her Zeta Amicae sisters held an event here on Sunday April 19th and it was an overall blast! Great food, great drinks and even greater company. Crystal is the SUPERSTAR of the bar and handled taking orders for an event of 70+ people with as much swiftness and expertise that can be expected of a pro. My one thorn (out of this very beautiful rose) is that the event itself was understaffed. Many people weren’t being served unless they ordered at the bar (and these were people with mobility issues). Also only 2 bartenders and 1 server bringing out food for people for an event that’s 70+ is just a lot for staff to handle by themselves and can cause understandable frustrations. Even thought it took awhile to order, once food and drinks were inputted they came out pretty quickly.

I had some of the buffalo chicken wings with fries and the wings were BOMB.COM! I also heard the burger was pretty good and I was able to get a bite of someone’s pretzel which was super pillowy and warm. the

Like I said, overall it was great time with a staff of people dedicated to making sure it stayed that way ✨“

Other Half Brewing Domino Park Brewery •
34 River St, Brooklyn

“We had the absolute best experience hosting my husband's birthday at Other Half Brewing Company, and a huge part of that was thanks to their incredible manager, Matthew and wonderful staff. From start to finish, they made what could have been a complex setup feel seamless, flexible, and genuinely enjoyable.
If you're planning a big gathering where things don’t run on a rigid schedule, this is *the* place. They were so accommodating with guests filtering in and out over a few hours due to different commitments, which made it feel relaxed and had plenty of space for our guests to hang around given the event went for 3 additional hours.

One of the biggest perks it’s both dog-friendly and kid-friendly, which made it easy for everyone to join without hesitation. And unlike so many venues, they’re refreshingly reasonable with their rules and support other local businesses you can bring in pizza from Stretch and your own cake (we brought ours from Francie) without any of those ridiculous cake-cutting fees. That alone made a huge difference.

The drink selection was fantastic across the board. Beyond their excellent beers and beer flights, they also had great cocktails and a solid range of non-alcoholic options, so every guest felt taken care of. We especially loved their Annuelle partner wine series they even provided ice buckets for each bottle, which elevated the setup and made everything look so polished and thoughtful. The setting near Domino Park is stunning, and even with unpredictable weather, it created such a beautiful and memorable backdrop for our celebration.

Guest favorites were definitely the Crickets, Green City, and the rosé people are still talking about them.

Overall, this was one of those rare venues that combines great vibes, flexibility, and genuine hospitality. Matthew and the team truly went above and beyond to make our celebration special.“
