“Stop the presses!! I found a great new restaurant where artistry trumps slinging hash. It’s Pop Empanada, re-christened Pop Pasta Supper Club on Thursdays and Saturday nights. On those days, Chef Nicolas Pescatore prepares a 6 course meal, and even if you don’t like every course, you will appreciate the artistry and the ambition. Tonight, the courses were 1. celery avocado salad (replacing salmon, which this landlubber doesn’t like), 2. shrimp empanada in a butter curry sauce, 3. pork belly confit, 4. raviolo-soft boiled egg center in a brown butter sage sauce, 5. brisket ragu paccheri pasta, and 6. dessert of frangelica panna cotta key lime shortbread crumble. The cost with tip is around $100 per person plus the cost of your BYOB. We wouldn’t pay that cost often, but it’s a welcome break from the restaurants where kitchen staff show up at 4 PM and are ready to serve at 5pm.“

My wife and I got a bowl and we both loved it. If you are looking for a counter style Mediterranean place to eat this is a fantastic choice! All the food is made fresh. My wife ordered pita chips and falafel on the side and both were made fresh when we ordered. The pita chips were thick and super crispy. The falafel was incredibly moist too. Highly recommend!“

They also offer a better than average wine selection, at reasonable (restaurant) prices. The salmon tartare stole the show, but the Gorgonzola stuffed dates, garlic shrimp, and meatball tapas dishes were amazing supporting roles to an overall great meal. The sea bass was cooked perfectly and the skin was so crispy, a first for me as I've never had fish skin before. Others had the filet mignon which was also cooked to perfection. Servers were always available and very professional. We've been here several times and will continue to patronize this neighborhood gem!“

From my cousin who went back to Belfast, Northern Ireland: I am keen to get back to visit again and hopefully we can visit the fantastic restaurant again, can't remember the name otherwise it would be getting a 5 star from me.
