Since 2004, I have been a regular visitor to this unique Belgium pub nestled in the vibrant Ukrainian Village, and it’s clear there’s something truly special about it that keeps drawing me back. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by quirky medieval-style murals, carefully curated selection of beers... and back in early 2000s, a bartenders dressed as a monk. BRING BACK THE MONK.
Remember that MTV show Silent Library where you couldn’t laugh or get loud or you’d get shushed and lose? This is that in real life! Double the thrill of getting shushed with the coziest ambience and best selection of Belgian beers in NYC?! You’re sure to love and cherish this East Village gem as much as I have since discovering it.

This is a quiet bar. You will be shhhh'ed if too loud. Ask the bartender about the fascinating history of the bar and its links to monastic monks. A very pleasant change of pace from a typical loud bar atmosphere.
