It was surprising to find a restaurant of this quality in a museum, albeit an outstanding museum. The ambiance is relaxing. The service was friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent. I'm not a french fry aficionado, but these french fries were among the best I've ever had. The value was certainly in keeping with what one would expect to pay for a moderately-priced lunch in NYC. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. We look forward to returning.
After some hesitation(my companion has special dietary requirements), we chose a sandwich for me and a steak for her, sharing a side of fries. The portion of fries was huge and delicious and our dishes were both prepared well. The waitress was wonderful in advising my companion on alternatives. The prices are reasonable and the ambiance is very calm and quiet.
I wish I can return to this store more. I had a dinner at Manhatta before and the restaurant introduced that their sour dough is from Frenchette - which turned out to be the only food I consider above average during that experience. When visiting Whitney this year I finally come to this Frenchette spot and tried the other french bakery like Canele and cakes. Of course they met my expectations. Really appreciate the environment and food quality, and the staff is very hosting.
