We went to Giovanni on a Thursday night after an event at the Met. We got there at 8:30pm, and the restaurant was empty except for a group that was just leaving. Since it was just us, the noise level was acceptable! This is a pretty old fashioned, really good, Northern Italian restaurant. Everything we had was excellent, the service was excellent, etc. In spite of the restaurant being empty except for us, we did not feel rushed at all. We found this to be a great place for lunch following a visit to the. Metropolitan Museum of Art, just a block away. Food was delicious, with a nice choice of wine and service was very attentive.

I have not been back to the city since the start of the pandemic. This would be one of my first dinners. The food, the quiet and the absolute charm of the staff always calls me back. Please reopen and if not soon, just reopen sometime
