Good omakase in New York is easy to find. Good omakase for under $200 is harder, and Noz 17 gets close.
It's sushi only, which I prefer. No filler courses, just the nigiri you came for. The rice is good, well formed with nicely balanced acidity. The fish is fresh and tasty, kept simple with a bit of curing. Where it slipped was the sourcing. The Boston tuna was so-so. Best Japanese omakase we have been in our life. Expensive in theory but it was worth it 100%

Customers praise the exceptional quality, value, and welcoming atmosphere, with a well-curated selection of sushi and delicious bites paired with balanced sake. The seasonal items are amazing, and the courses are well-connected with a temperature transition across them. Highlights include the Hokkaido pike mackerel sushi, Kyoto kamo eggplant puree, shittake sushi, and uni ice cream.
