Really good food. The egg on egg on egg, uni makemen and the katsu sandro are a must try. We paid around 350$ for 3 people, which is a good deal considering the amount of food we got
Been coming to Sakamai since they opened, and it’s become a LES staple that we stop by multiple times a year and have brought many friends along. The Egg on Egg on Egg continues to be a standout, and the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Katsu Sando is a must. The current iteration of the Uni Mazemen brought back the original bone marrow offering, and the Dry Aged Duck offers tons of flavor with a minor sense of funk. Since 2013, each time I am in NY, my trip starts and finishes with a meal at Sakamai. And 10 years down the road, the food is still outstanding. Amazing experience. What has changed is the service quality. Focus on the guys at the Bar. No smile, no connection, no nothing. This Sunday, I felt pure arrogance and lack of consideration for clients (the cocktails though are still excellent). One of the issues globally: Happy Hour.
