Shopsin's Reviews
Loved it. A small diner inside of Essex Market with sooo many choices! Staff were very helpful and friendly - lots of people saying hello and goodbye to the staff by name which shows a loyal clientele
Don’t knock the mac n cheese pancakes til you try em
This is essentially a diner in the Essex Street market. The food was cool I got a avocado toast on a chibatta bread which was fine the BLT was significantly better. The sauce the cilantro lime spicy sauce was outstanding. What really stands out here however was the service. I felt so overwhelming taken care of, helpful and kind and he genuinely seemed to enjoy what he was doing. That dude is enough for us to return he was a pleasure. If I lived in the area I would be sure to...read full review

Shopsin's is a diner-like restaurant located inside the Essex Market that offers unique and delicious dishes, including the well-known Loco Moco. The menu is extensive and features interesting options like Blisters On My Sisters with adjustable spiciness levels. Recently, Azteca stuffed pancakes were introduced, which are pancakes with ingredients like avocado and cilantro mixed into the dough. They come with a dish of ricotta mixed with lemon and herbs, and are served with maple syrup and butter. The pancakes are light and airy, and having a savory option is a nice change. Customers have mentioned that the food is not only delicious but also comes out quickly. Shopsin's has a cozy atmosphere and can get busy during peak hours, making the wait for seats sometimes longer due to its small space and limited staffing. However, it still has plenty of seating inside. The service is friendly, with a super friendly host and staff who are often familiar to regulars. Coffee is self-service, and while some may find the service a bit schticky, it is usually not rude if customers are respectful. Those hoping to take pictures for social media should note that the restaurant does not allow cameras inside. Overall, the food is highly recommended, and it's worth checking out when the place is less crowded, especially for those looking to try unique pancakes in NYC.
