The Gyro Project is a small but mighty Mediterranean restaurant, sometimes sharing a space with another establishment. It is a lesser known spot but one that customers plan to return to again and again. The food is cooked in healthy oils and arrives in big, fresh portions. Specific standout dishes include the falafel pita wrap, the Souvlaki chicken wrap hailed as the best in town, and the chicken gyro club, described as out of this world. The lamb and beef gyro platter features delightfully spiced, not too dry meat. Other notable items are the moist chicken, the crunchy hummus and pita appetizer, the perfect fries, a fresh salad, and a tzatziki with a sour cream base. For appetizers, the octopus tentacle is very tender. The pork Souvlaki is juicy, and the orange sponge cake is pretty good. While some minor issues like lukewarm fries or slight over-seasoning are noted, the friendly and attentive service enhances the experience. The drinks are also great. It is a nicely decorated, spacious yet intimate spot that is not too pricey, making it a recommended place to sit down for a meal.
