Unlike some places in NY that claim to serve authentic Guyanese cuisine, Shanta’s delivers the real deal. It truly brings a little piece of home right here to New York.

The staff has been easy to communicate with in my experience, and the vibes are generally pleasant. That said, customer service could use a bit of polish. One recommendation would be to implement a numbering system to manage the crowd, it does get packed (because the food’s that good), and a more organized system would go a long way.

Still, Shanta’s continues to earn its place as a neighborhood favorite. Highly recommend if you’re after legit Guyanese eats and a reminder of home.“

“My husband and I made the long drive yesterday (2 1/2 hrs each way) from upstate NY to visit our daughter in NYC just for the day. While strolling around her neighborhood we came upon your lovely bakery and cafe and after eyeing the beautiful carrot cake in the window, we had to go in. Carrot cake is my favorite sweet treat. There were so many beautiful choices, but we got 2 slices of carrot cake to take back home with us. After the long drive back home we were really looking forward to a piece of cake and a cup of coffee. I opened one of the beautifully packed boxes, which revealed an enormous slice of yumminess!! The slice was big enough for at least 3 people. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Everything about this cake was phenomenal. The frosting was outstanding, the cake was so flavorful and moist. It was the best we’ve ever had. We have enough left for a few days. I’m so glad we stopped in. It was a great way to end our lovely day in the city and will most certainly go back on our next trek in . I will also have to get our daughter pick up some baked goods when she’s coming home for a visit. I highly recommend Crumbly Cafe & Bakery😊😊“

“Unregular Bakery was hands down the best bakery experience we had in NYC. The pastry display looks absolutely insane, and everything tastes just as good as it looks. We tried the croissant pudding, the K Bueno, and a cappuccino — all were amazing. The employee recommended we warm up the croissant pudding, and even did it for us — it was exactly what I had been craving after so many disappointing bakery visits in NYC. I tried the dulce de leche with coconut and wow… it was love at first bite. Sweet but not overwhelming, with the perfect chewy texture. It’s huge too — definitely shareable, but honestly, you’ll want it all for yourself.

Some of my favorites are the cinnamon roll, brown butter apple tart, and the smoked salmon focaccia. It can get busy but getting there around 8am, you shouldn't expect to wait that long.“

Everything i bought was amazing we went around 11:55 am it was relatively busy, when we ordered we waited around 30 minutes which isn't awful. We ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito, ube black sesame mochi, and a smores bar, + a free churro mochi. The burrito is filled with flavor especially with the green sauce, the mochi was crunchy on the outside soft on the inside, the smores bar is just like a elevated smores. I think a lot of the bakeries that have gone viral are severely overhyped. Petit Chou stands out because everything I have had from this bakery has been good.
Their chocolate chip cookie is also among the best in NYC.
The bakery doesn't have much seating. There is one counter with 4 chairs. And a second standing only counter. It can feel a bit cramped if you are enjoying your treats inside the bakery on a busy day.“
