“Small spot, not a lot of seating. The woman at the counter not the most welcoming but nice enough. The coconut flan was absolutely delicious ($5). Not too sweet. Very creamy. My mom is a flan snob since she makes it herself, and she loved it!“

“Upon entering i immediately felt like i was back in DR, the chicken yaroa was so perfectly seasoned, easily the best i’ve had. The picadera had the best chuleta ahumada and their natural cherry juice was very good as well. They’re open late which is very convenient“

“I have been coming here since at least 2009. The food is always prepared fresh and made to order hence the long wait times. I have dined in, taken out and ordered via UberEats for delivery as I live a few towns over. I have never encountered rude staff or an attitude of any sort at this location, even over the phone. The location across from QCM however is a different story and leaves a lot to be desired as far as courtesy and service. That being said, I absolutely love the variety of empanadas, the chicken platters, the availability of Columbiana, the aji and pink sauces here and will continue to be a customer for many years to come!“

“In a city with endless empenadas and similar snacks, these are good. Not overly greasy, no stomach ache, just felt satisfied with a tasty snack before going to the Museum of the Moving Image.

“Went to the brand new Houston location and things are a bit rocky with staffing and supplies but I want to brag on your employee CAMILLA ! We came from NC and after visiting Puerto Rico several times I was so excited for this experience! She was so patient with us! Answered all our questions with a very helpful and cheerful attitude even tho she was drowning in drink orders! With only one other helper, she never showed any frustration and provided excellent above and beyond customer service! The cashier with her was brand new and super sweet as well! Camilla even gave me a hug when we left! She made my whole morning! And gave us the absolute best breakfast recommendation as well! Thank u so much Camilla for your grace and kindness this morning. U had no idea that my Morning started out so crappy, and your sweet personality and loving spirit really turned my day around and the tres leches latte was AMAZING 🙌🏼🩷💯 yall go see them and be patient …..it’s worth the wait ❤️ side note… the whole place is decorated beautifully! “Just had a serious Venezuelan feast at Empanadas Mix 🇻🇪 and I’m still recovering like a champ. 💪
Walked in hungry… walked out questioning my life choices (in the best way). The Pepito Mix sandwich loaded with beef and chicken was basically a heavyweight champion between two pieces of bread. Then came the arepas—thick fried cornmeal shells stuffed with carne asada, pork belly, sweet plantains, special sauce, and a mountain of shredded queso. That’s not a snack… that’s a strategy for survival. 😅
Washed it down with fresh passion fruit juice and a cold Maltín Polar like a true gentleman of culture.
Shoutout to my waitress Paola, who patiently guided me through the menu while I pointed at everything like a kid in a candy store. The place is small, cozy, full of Venezuelan music, and the staff are incredibly kind.
Moral of the story:
Came for empanadas… stayed for the Venezuelan flavor knockout. 🥊🔥

“I’ve been searching for a chicharrones spot in NYC for a long time and I’m glad I finally found a spot in Flushing! I got the chicharrones with rice and beans and potato salad (comes with half an avocado). Every aspect of the meal was delicious. The pork was perfectly crispy, the rice was soft and delicious. The beans also paired perfectly with the rice.

The staff was also super sweet and friendly. I would definitely come back for more and for breakfast. I saw a lot of New York breakfast friendly options on the menu for a very reasonable price. They take cash, credit card, and apple pay!“

“Listen, I’ve visited New York about three times now, and every single trip I make it a priority to stop at this bodega. I first discovered it during a tour on my very first visit, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

They sell a variety of things, but let me be clear—the empanadas are the star of the show. Oh. My. Gosh. They are packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and BIG. You can literally get full off just one.

If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor and try their empanadas. I have to warn you though: once you taste one from this spot, you’ll never be satisfied with an empanada from anywhere else. You’ll only crave theirs.

“It is an excellent place, good food, good prices, the staff is friendly and serves quickly, the place is clean, safe to eat and hang out. I recommend it. It seems like a good place. I have eaten there for years and it has always been a restaurant that I like to return to.

Vegetarian options: It is not a restaurant focused on vegetarian food but they sell salads, juices and a person who does not eat meat can still enjoy a good meal.

Kid-friendliness: It is a clean, quiet place, the staff is friendly and polite and the restaurant in my opinion does not represent any risk for a minor.

Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp so that a person in a wheelchair or other device that supports walking has the accessibility of being able to enter the premises without major difficulties.“

They make them with different fillings, and they truly don’t disappoint. With many empanada spots opening up, they do not compare because the pricing is high or the flavor is lacking. No steak salad, no sweet potato fries, burgers and hot dogs are changed up and not as unique/not as many choices. “I went to this restaurant, because I was curious about this place. I went in and ordered a chicken empanadas and a small Salchipapas. Both tasted so good, and the way the hot dog bites blended with the French Fries and melted Mozzarella cheese made me enjoy my stay. Thank you for the delicious food. The cashiers who served me were beautiful and wonderful people. Thank you for giving me the strength to go back to work in my college. This is a nice restaurant to dine in.“

I stayed to savor the mango smoothie. When you buy the empanada, the sauce is automatically put with your order. Would come back. The lovely cashier appreciated my compliment of the store. I realized that their IG is a very sizable following. Videos and clips of the manager, people dining, their food and menu. The other day, the Pina juice drink was amazing. Natural and delicious!“
