Service is always good. Food was appropriate temperature but another option such as hash, pancake, ham, etc. would have been great.
We were a party of 2 and the service that we received was incredibly poor. The wait staff forgot our drink order. She was not able to be found to obtain the check. When we finally received the check, she again went missing. I tried to bring the check to the maitre d' so that I could pay and make the show that I was attending at SPAC. While I admit that it was busy due to the show at SPAC, other wait staff seemed to be handling the service properly in a timely manner.
We ate on the patio I (much quieter) and then went inside after dinner to the bar area. Others had left to go to SOAC. Lovely! Had a very nice time after a day at the racetrack.

Putnam’s Restaurant & Bar is a lovely “vintage” Inn with lots of charm throughout, like stepping back in time but with all the amenities, large rooms, very comfortable beds, friendly staff, and very yummy food. The dining experience can be fantastic from start to finish, with helpful waitstaff and delicious food, especially when dining outside with a terrific view. The hotel and grounds are gorgeous, and the outside seating is lovely. However, experiences vary. One diner found the club sandwiches terrible—mostly constructed of thick slices of un-toasted, stale, white bread with no mayo or dressing, though the waitress comped them. Another noted dinner was over cooked and was unaware of breakfast being only buffet for the weekend. The inside dining room gets very noisy when busy. On the positive side, the staff is very friendly and ALL work together, with the Manager also helping. The buffet breakfast offers assorted pastries, hot and cold breakfast items, and was delicious on a beautiful summer Sunday morning. Some guests will definitely go back, while others are hesitant.
