“This is my absolute favorite Cafe in Altamont now!! The food raises the bar, it was fantastic! We were very delighted with our meals! They must have a chef on board, cause the dishes were made with PERFECTION! The homemade corn beef hash was perfectly made! The eggs were made picture perfect, the chicken and waffle was not only culinary calendar picture but backed it up in taste and texture. The Chef and crew don't just do their best, they put their heart and soul into EVERY DISH THAT LEAVES THE KITCHEN! This place is a hidden gem ! I am so glad to have found this place! Can't wait to return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Altamont or near by it's WORTH THE TRIP!“

“This is such a charming farm country store in Burnt Hills. Not only is the atmosphere inviting, but the selection of items makes it well worth the visit. While here, I was able to satisfy multiple impulses at once. I was able to find some delicious almong cookies with raspberry jam, maple cream, honey almond handsoap, and several candles that smell absolutely AMAZING.What I like aside from the great variety of items that they sell is the QUALITY. If you have a tendency to grasp as Shiney objects, you'll find quite a few here. But I can assure you that you most definitely get what you pay for. Their baked goods are unlike anything I've purchased at a country store before, and they have certainly gained my future patronage as a result. The staff was friendly and made me feel welcome, which was a surprise being a NYC native, where everyone is on guard. I think it would take several visits for me to truly take in all this place has to offer, but I endeavor to try! It's definitely worth the visit and money well spent.“

“Overall: The Blue Rose is a haven for delicious baked goods, easily becoming my favorite bakery. Their friendly staff and extensive selection make it a must-visit.Macarons: The star of the show is their macaron selection. They boast a wide variety of flavors, from classic birthday cake and cookies & cream to decadent Snickers and red velvet. Not only are they beautiful, but they're also the most affordable I've found.Tiramisu: Another must-try is their tiramisu. This decadent Italian dessert is beyond delicious, with perfectly layered ladyfingers soaked in espresso and a rich mascarpone cream.Price: The Blue Rose offers excellent value, especially for their macarons.Recommendation: Do yourself a favor and visit The Blue Rose frequently. You won't be disappointed!“

“We stop any time we are in the area. We were there this past Thursday and the food was excellent as it always is, and the waitress we had was awesome! She refilled our drinks without us asking and perfectly timed, i squirted catsup on my fries and it made a spurt sound... she immediately brought us another bottle, again without asking! We love it here and I know you will also!“

“Our bestie group of 4 went for lunch. Everything was so good. 3 got BLT’s and I got the Beet Salad. They all loved their sandwiches with chips or macaroni salad and my Beet Salad was the best I ever had!!! They roast their beets to perfection. chopped walnuts crumbled goat cheese, sliced red onions, on wonderful salad greens, with a delicious balsamic mixture. It was so good. Service was so comforting such a sweet person and coffee and a most delicious cider donut and coffee for dessert. The best afternoon! We will certainly be back before long.“

“We are happy to support a women owned business that has been family owned since 1866. Also pleased that the nearby Niskayuna Co-op carries their pies year round. The pies are 100% hand made! The Co-op takes orders at Thanksgiving. I put in an order and was amazed at the large tables filled with numerous pre ordered pies waiting for pickup. They were arranged by type. They are popular! My family likes the Apple Pie with a streusel top. Strawberry Rhubarb, and the mixed berry pie from Mourningkill. They make a sugar free Fruit of the Forest Pie. I like to make my own pumpkin pies. Their pies have a tender flavorful crust that is easy to slice and does not crumble. It does not taste mass produced like some commercial or frozen pies. Their pie fillings are not runny, so they slice and serve nicely. They make 10" and 5" pies. From the website: "Mourningkill Farm and Bake Shop is a family-owned farm that has been operating since 1866, specializing in the production of apples, rhubarb, and other fresh produce used to create their delicious pies and tea breads. With a commitment to using the highest quality local ingredients, their pies are made from scratch by hand, featuring a light crust that perfectly complements the flavors of their carefully selected fruits. Since 1976, the bake shop has been dedicated to producing simple and scrumptious pies, sticking to their original recipes that have stood the test of time. Customers can expect pies and breads made fresh to order, with pie baking days on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and tea bread baking day on Tuesday and/or Wednesday."“
“I worked with Bri for my wedding, I just got married at the Maples Estate in early September. We did a small cake for my husband and I to cut, then macarons and cupcakes. Bri was truly one of my absolute favorite vendors to work with! It was so fun and collaborative. I shared our design board and some inspiration photos we had for our wedding, and Bri took it from there! Everything was beautiful, just so cute and all of her desserts are absolutely fantastic! Bri was so good about helping with numbers and figuring out what we needed, which was perfect. She also gave was super clear instructions for what needed to be refrigerated/what we needed to do to make sure the desserts were perfect by serving time. A few flavor shoutouts are necessary! First, Bri made us a custom fruity pebbles macaron flavor which was amazing and so fun, we love breakfast and wanted something to match that. The crème brûlée macaron is a MUST! The salted caramel cake and frosting is just wow. And a surprise combo for us, brown butter cake and creamsicle frosting is so tasty, we highly recommend!“
“Beautiful and delicious cake! We had an 8” round, funfetti cake with a layer of chocolate buttercream inside and white buttercream on the outside. We decided to try a new bakery because we haven’t been really happy with previous places and we were so happy we did! It was perfectly decorated and absolutely delicious! The buttercream was creamy and sweet without being grainy and overly sweet and cake was so moist and flavorful! Thank you so much, we’ve found our new bakery for all of our spec8al cakes!“

“They made our wedding cake! Presentation was perfect and it tasted heavenly to boot. Totally worth it to be able to share the full cake cutting and eating experience at my wedding. The guests enjoyed it and we did too! Also wanted to add that we made an error with the date we were supposed to pick it up. Even though we were a day early, they still got the cake to us earlier than we were technically supposed to have it. Thank you!!“

“Two subs, wings, large antipasto and grilled chicken salad. Everything was awesome! Kids actually ate in silence too busy chewing! Pretzel rolls I could eat a dozen! Ladies at the counter where nice and our food was done and ready in a timely manner despite there being 7 other people with questions and orders in the store. Nice to have a decent place close by again!“
“First time buying a tree here and it will not be my last. The staff was friendly and helpful and my Christmas Tree is so healthy - no needles falling off yet. Impulsively bought their cider as I was checking out, it's delicious. Can't wait to go back again.“

“About 18% of the world's population lives in China while the U.S. has approximately 4.5% of the population. I've tended to think of Chinese cuisine as a monolithic entity rather than a dynamic mix of regional cuisines. I've been trying to address my ignorance by eating at Chinese restaurants that advertise their regionality. Hong Kong Bakery & Bistro is Cantonese/Guangdong. From my very limited research, the cuisine is light and mild, steamed rather than stir fried. This is certainly a simplification but it is a starting point. One of the more famous dishes from the region is dim sum. Dim sum means "touch the heart". They are small steamed or fried savory items, snacks. These are the items I focused on during my visits to the bakery/bistro. Each item was different enough from the other to make for a pleasant and satisfying meal. Steamed dishes - beef ball with bean curd skin, shrimp with spinach dumpling, roast duck dumpling, rice rolls with roast duck. Fried dishes included deep fried pork dumpling and fried shrimp ball. Most of the rolls were made with glutinous rice of varying thickness or cornstarch, either steamed or deep fried. The sauces were also wide-ranging, savory to sweet, and added much to the meal. What I didn't know - dim sum is usually accompanied with tea. I can see how that can elevate the experience. Since it is a bakery, I also tried some of those items. Custard buns, coconut custard buns, coconut pudding, dried pork buns, and even tiramisu were tested. Some notes - The dried pork buns added pork floss (dried pork manipulated to the texture of rough cotton candy) to the outside of the bun. Coconut pudding - subtle fragrance and flavor of coconut coagulated with agar agar as the gelling agent. It's more "bouncy" than jello - not my favorite. I think some of the baked items were bought from a wholesaler - there's a whole lot there. The most underwhelming item was the tiramisu. Well, who gets tiramisu at a Cantonese place? I guess I do. This taught me a lesson as this item seemed to have languished in the display case for a bit longer than it should. Overall, it's a really good place to try different dim sum. A word of warning - Italian desserts might be saved for another place.“
“I love this bakery. Their cakes, cookies and apple cider donuts are awesome. The only two things I could possibly want is for them to actually make a Half Moon Cookie (The Chocolate Base) as opposed to the NYC Black and White Cookie. The second would be to actually have some nutritional information to go along with their products. But if you want fresh, home made baked products this is the place.“
