Le Chef has been a Southampton stalwart for over thirty-five years. The owner’s the same and he owns the building. He obviously takes pride (white tablecloths) in his business and eschews aspirations to becoming a corporate restaurant with a TV Series. The chef’s fish is as fresh as this morning’s catch. LeChef never disappoints. The bars is great, the staff is welcoming and service is always reliable. The food is solid and it has a good vibe, without the see and be seen crowd.
I had early dinner with a friend at the bar one weekday evening in August. While we could have had a table, we enjoyed the casual vibe at the bar. The woman tending it was friendly but not intrusive, and she made great vodka martinis. We each had the crusted flounder and fries which was delicious. If you’re looking for a comfortable atmosphere that is less of a scene (but still fun) than some of the glitzier places in the Hamptons, this is an excellent choice.
Le Chef in Southampton has been a local favorite for over three decades, with a dedicated owner who values quality over commercialization. The staff, including waiter Dean and bartender Kelly, are friendly and genuine.
