My Grandmother has passed and I am constantly on the hunt for pierogi that are just like hers. Helena's is as close as I can get. They are made with love, by hand and with care. You meet Helena's mom working the counter and feel the genuine and heartfelt concern, not only for the food they make but for you their customer. I make a trip, over an hour, at least twice a year and load up on the best tasting pierogi in and around the Hudson valley. If you like pierogi, it's a must try.”

“Stopped in here a couple years back while I was headed out for a bear hunt. It’s the kind of country bar you hope to find—laid-back, wood-worn, with locals who don’t mind a stranger pulling up a stool. Service was quick and the folks behind the bar treated me right. The regulars were friendly too, the sort that make you feel like you’ve been around longer than a single visit.

Only shame is the thought of this spot eventually getting swallowed up by cityits. For now, it’s still the real deal.”

“Admittedly, I was very picky about the details I wanted for my wedding cake. I found portions of past cakes that Maxine had made and frankensteined together my dream creation. Maxine was very patient and helpful during this design process and nailed my vision. It was beautiful and delicious! She even worked with my florist to add some accents. She was also the only person in the area I could find willing to deliver, which was a huge plus for me (who wants the stress of a dropped cake on their wedding day?).”
