“This is not your average old school Hudson valley ice cream shop. They take care of you like they are, but they have a modern looking building and menu and great customer service. I’m on a keto diet so I got a burger and hot dog without buns. They might not look enticing from the pictures but they were great and fit right into my diet.Dietary restrictions: They accommodated my keto requests no problem. They even wrapped my burger in lettuce for me.”
“This was such a great find while me and my husband were upstate for a few days. I loved that they had GF options and the food was so fresh and delicious. We went once and then came back the next day since it was so good. Very reasonable as well. I recommend!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pancakes and bread available”
“We've been coming here for years. Everyone is so friendly, the food is consistently deliciousn and the place is spotless. We always enjoy our experience here.”
“This is our go to place where we can be confident we always leave satisfied. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and it’s always a great experience.”
“Fantastic deals and delicious food. I'd say I go to Blackboard for lunch at least once a week. Love their daily lunch special.Parking: Based in an old school building so plenty of parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Fully wheelchair accessible.”
“Happened to be in the area so I came in for lunch on Valentines Day and Benny (the owner) was giving out Roses and a box of chocolate covered strawberries, a cannoli, and ferrero roche chocolates. It was so sweet it made my day! Not to mention the pizza was DELICIOUS and they’re so generous with the toppings especially on the chicken slices! 10/10 would recommend”
“Love this place! I have no idea why it took us so long to check it out after they opened, as we are always complaining of the lack of restaurant variety in the area. Upstate Taco is now part of our routine and we enjoy every visit. Highly ”
“Went here on Sunday for drinks before dinner and was really impressed by the bartender (I think her name was Stephanie?) and the drinks she made. The bramble was one of the best cocktails I've ever had - very unique taste, and the garden gimlet was also fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails and cider. Two complaints would be about the bathroom situation (the toilet paper hadn't been replenished in the portapotties and the bathroom in the bar area was out of service). Other would just be a need for more seating.”
“Here was pretty good, placed my order and everything was right as I placed it. So my seven stars around the moon, all meats were cooked perfectly and bathed the sauce, the veggies which I have admit there was more then necessary were fresh and seasoned well. Loved the egg battered shrimp, since not too much batter and the shrimp itself did not shrink when fried. As for the wonton in garlic sauce, filling was good and wonton's were very crispy and not too doughy. The sauce was very savory with a light spice. Overall pretty great meal I got here.”
“The staff make this chain a better stop than most. They are kind and friendly to kids, and the rest of us too but wow. Really nice and accommodating to kids. I saw 2 kids under 10 get service and help from 3 people who gave them the experience of being important customers and treated as though they were any other customer with kindness and respect as though they were an adult. It was refreshing to see good people give kids a chance to be "normal" and yet treated well.It may seem small, but it made me happy.”
“Black Dot is the best coffee shop ever. The quality and care put into their coffee and food is unparalleled in the Hudson Valley. Banana cake. CHECK. Lemon cake. CHECK. The best cappuccino? CHECK, CHECK. Yummy snacks? Forggetaboutit! They’re the best. They’re super friendly and it’s a great place for both locals and people traveling through- which is important up here! When I go back to the city I always miss it. :)”
“Excellent special occasion restaurant in a historic environment! The ambiance is cozy and romantic, the service is kind and attentive, and the food is seasonal and delicious. Upscale “farmhouse cooking” where every ingredient feels local and intentionally included. The menu changes frequently, so don’t expect the same thing each time. However, some of our favorites such as the trout rillettes and shishito peppers are available year round.”
“You have to know what you're going here for to have a positive experience. I personally find their bialys to be delicious. I like a sausage, egg, and cheese on a bialy - but know in advance that the eggs are microwaved. I don't mind this so it works for me. The one area for improvement is the cleanliness of the place -- it really doesn't seem clean to us, AT ALL, but it's good enough that we keep going back so I suppose it's not too big of an issue. I don't think the baked goods are fresh. I haven't tried the falafel but might be tempted to soon. The service is pretty good, but the staff's attitudes are hit or miss-- they are really nice to me now, I think because I consistently tip, but they sometimes seem grumpy.”
“We're hanging out at the dive bar down the road and the bartender there recommended we come here for some good drinks. And my oh my were they good. I never believed in the science of mixology or that a mixologist was a skilled tradesmen. But the old man who made our drinks must have been the Gordon Ramsey of Bartending. Your average bartender is a frycook by comparison. I had a few of their signature cocktails as well as a Manhatten and an old fashioned; my go-to drink so I've had a lot of them from a lot of different places, and never in my decades of life have I tasted such a perfectly mixed old fashioned. It was sublime and I doubt I'll taste its equal again in this lifetime unless I find myself in Kingston again and this man happens to be behind the bar once more. He also whipped up some scratch-made eggnog with alcohol and it was exquisite.”
“We ordered six courses from the menu, between entrance & main course. Food was quite tasty & very delicious but their dishes are not visually stunning. The service was great. However I would prefer if they have live music, would be more fun for having a good time & stay longer.Definitely one of my go to spot in Hudson Valley.”
“Hands down the best pierogis I have ever had. Kielbasa and sauerkraut was fantastic, and try the bacon, farmer's cheese, and jalapeno if they have them on special.”
“This place has a classic American tavern feel. There is bar seating and table seating. There are a couple of sections (a big back section which is where our group of 11 was seated). Food was delicious and they had a couple of options - bar snacks, appetizers, salads/soup, mains. The price of main entrees run from $20-$30. Service was also great.”
“We stopped in while on a road trip from Delaware to Montreal. What a cool little place! It's a combination tea/coffee place. The person who helped us could not have been nicer. I had the Maple Rosemary Latte which was amazing! We would certainly frequent this place if we lived in the area. Check it out!”
“My wife and I came for a Friday night dinner. We made reservations last minute and glad we did as the place was packed. Service was high quality and the folks were very warm. The food and drinks was insanely good! The Rasta pasta was delicious and we enjoyed our leftovers so much. The jerk wings were so tender and the dry rub was spicy and flavorful. We were lucky to meet the chef Chris briefly and he was very kind. The cafe and provisions store is also really great. The coffee was tasty and the breakfast sandwiches were dope right before a hike.”
“Best bookstore in Kingston! I'm not a coffee drinker but I do love their hot chocolate. I order the same thing every time I stop by ( Small hot chocolate and a cookie) .This place is super cozy with an awesome selection of books. If you can find a seat on a less busy day your in luck! It's a chill place to meet up with friends or get some work done. Staff is always friendly and helpful. If your new to Kingston definitely check it out it's one of a kind.”
“If you are looking for a Great sandwich for a more then reasonable price, you have found your place. The sandwich selection is full of great options, and you won't be disappointed. The Cuban has been my go-to for a quick weekend lunch option. The staff is attentive and friendly, and one gentlemen calls me young man, even though I am sure that I am older then him which leads me to an extensional crisis while I eat my Cuban. I hope that this joint can survive in our sweet little town full of Teeny boppers and hopeless hipsters. Do yourself a favor and grab a sandwich from this place before our only option is a mutant meat sandwich from Amazon grown in a laboratory for 2$ a month for eternity.”
“Exactly right! Ate delicious, interesting food in a beautiful space with excellent service. Don't be fooled by the ubiquitousness of flourless chocolate cake; it was done perfectly. Thank you, Clare and the Runa team!”
“It is one of our favorite hangouts in the Hudson Valley. It has a great vibe, great food, great ambience, both in the winter and the summer time. Service is good and the food is very comfort food that makes you feel you are eating at home. The pizza is Roman style so thinner than most and very tasty. A great spot close to Kingston and the Mohonk preserve”
“really good restaurant in an area where these are a few and far between. The chef balances, creativity, seasonality, and good straightforward, cooking to create a range of compelling menu items, so much so that it is hard to pick. There is a large and inviting hearth in the kitchen, so we try to choose dishes that were fire kissed. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and the drinks list has everything you need including a lot of well selected and clean Wines.”
“Truly a great dining experience, great service, great food, great atmosphere. My 9 and 8 year old finished everything on their plate w/o complaint (salmon and weiner schnitzel). Worth the ”
“Love working with Bryce & his dedicated team during special events! I am a professional photographer and every time I’ve worked at Novellas I’ve been nothing but comfortable, excited, and warmly welcomed by all staff!Everyone is dedicated to make operations run smoothly and Bryce is fantastic to coordinate with. Every time I have concerns about lighting or need updates throughout the night, Bryce always has an answer, a solution, a smile on his face. Thank you for creating a great environment for both guests & vendors. We appreciate all your hard work together at Novellas! Can’t wait for more events together in the future.”
“Food was insanely delicious but everyone (including , and I would say, notably, the clientele) was hauntingly unfriendly.Still would return for the pizza. Truly delectable. Sparkling apple cider was lovely too and the donuts were the best id had all year.Parking: Massive lotKid-friendliness: Tons of kids (and dogs!)Wheelchair accessibility: Relatively flat but uneven and sometimes mucky ground. Would not recommend for self wheeling unless supremely strong! ?”
“Being lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive Sweet Marisa’s is a gift from heaven. Marvelous choices warm environment and friendly staff. Put on your “must visit” listen when in Kingston N.Y.”
“Fab food and classic elegant designed dining room! LOVE the history of the local brick indistry!! The food is always exceptional and happy hour is best in Ulster County!! Super staff with friendly smiles!”
“Easy, comfy, good food. Plenty of locals there so you know it's good. Good prices. Not fancy, but a great place for pleasant, relaxed dinner.Kid-friendliness: Absolutely”
