EQUIS Pica Pollo (Utica) is a halal restaurant in the back of the plaza across the street from Hannaford. The food is very good, flavorful, and seasoned perfectly. The portions are super generous, from the fried chicken with fried rice to the chicken/lamb gyro over rice with a side salad, white sauce, and hot sauce. The lamb gyro is absolutely delicious and a generous size. The special rice is unbelievable. The fried chicken is legitimately homemade Dominican style, more affordable than KFC, and tastes better. The wings are rich and saucy. The chunky monkey smoothie is highly recommended. The interior is clean, the staff is very friendly and amazing, and the service is excellent. The owner moved to Utica after running a restaurant in NYC for 20 years, and the quality shows. The decorations and vibes are reminiscent of the Dominican Republic.
