“We took my grandchildren here for one of their birthdays. The food was excellent! The service was a bit slow but as it was Labor Day weekend it was understandable. The staff was welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we all had a great time. We will definitely be back!“

“Fabulous sushi place for a small party! Low lighting, but you can still see the menu, friendly and attentive staff, and very excellent food! We had these special rolls (all delicious): Green Dragon, Bikini Bottom, Naruto, Wasabi and the King Kong. Agedashi Tofu appetizer was decent (a bit more oily than expected, but still tasty).“

“Sushi was fresh. We got a sushi platter and a drink for 2 people. Very reasonably priced and staff was very nice. Want to go again and try other things on the menu.“

“Food is delicious, staff is friendly“

“I used to get my Sushi from Bonsai up by galleria, no more !!
Atari Sushi is amazing and their presentation is beautiful.
Service is very good. If I had to say anything to add , they need some soft lighting on tables for reading the menu.
You will be pleased here.
I had the Toro and conch appetizer delish 😋“

“Excellant service, very friendly and helpful. Crab salad is much better at this location then the other location, they chop up the crab and cucumber evenly and it balances out. The Green Dragon and Lobster roll were pretty good also. One of the better places for gyoza, very good flavor and texture. If you have kids, get a Shirley Temple for them, nice presentation.“

“Very friendly !! Food was great !! Will be back !“

“salmon sashimi was sooo good!!
we ended up ordering too much food because we expected portions to be smaller due to the prices we saw. so great bang for your buck here!

wish they had scattered the entrees though as we weren't done with our appetizers before they brought them to the (quite small) table.

overall very lovely experience we will be back!“

“This place is amazing and I come here all the time with my boyfriend and my best friend. The staff is amazing and Amanda is the sweetest ever. It’s not super expensive for an entree and it’s always delicious. Definitely my go to place and I always tell people to get food here. The chicken teriyaki is to die for“

“Best place to grab food either for dinner or before the train.“

“Amy’s food is the best. No MSG ever!! We’ve been going there for the last 5 years. Never once have I come out and later get that msg headache or feel bad. Everything is very good! Fresh with good portions. Sushi top shelf. She makes her own dumplings, egg rolls . The shrimp egg rolls are a must try. All the soups are good. No dish water tasting soups. We are there once some times twice a week.“

“The ambiance was nice and bright; the walls are decorated with various beautiful sea shells.

The vegetable tempura was crispy and light.

The Bonsai sushi roll was the highlight with crispy shrimp tempura & avocado inside, topped with delicious variety of spicy crab, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and whitefish - each bite has a different taste - highly recommend. Beauty Alaska roll was light with salmon inside and topped with salmon roe - this complemented the Bonsai roll very well.“

“The customer service was excellent, and the restaurant had such a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. I truly enjoyed my visit and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!“

“Another fantastic Japanese dining experience in Poughkeepsie! Bonsai 2 certainly deserves its five-star rating for its delicious food, fresh ingredients, generous portions and wonderful service. A delightful discovery that exceeded my expectations!

I ordered their Mushroom Crab Soup and Seafood Roll, and both were absolutely delicious!

The Mushroom Crab Soup was a lovely way to begin the meal. Comforting, flavourful and wonderfully satisfying, it offered a delightful combination of ingredients that made every spoonful enjoyable.

The Seafood Roll was equally impressive! The freshness of the ingredients really stood out, complemented by delicious flavours and a satisfying combination of textures. Beautifully prepared and appetisingly presented, it was a real treat from the first bite to the last.

What made the experience even better was the excellent service. The staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly, creating a pleasant and relaxed dining atmosphere.

Considering the quality of the ingredients, delicious food and overall experience, Bonsai 2 offers excellent value for money. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that delivers such enjoyable Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices.

Every bite was worth it! Highly recommended for anyone seeking fresh, tasty and affordable Japanese food in Poughkeepsie. I'll happily return for another delicious meal!“

“I love going here with my family! Great food always!“

“I came with a modest-sized group, and while it did take a little while to order, everything was well worth the wait (and it seemed like the restaurant might be slightly short staffed). Our hibachi chef was energetic and fun, and everyone from the front of the house was kind and attentive despite the clear dinner rush. I'm definitely going to come back and try the regular restaurant/sushi/takeout in the future!“

“Fresh Delicious Food !! Friendly and great service ! Definitely Recommend 😋“

“very poor. food is very greasy. the chicken was hard and stuck together. Pork in the mushroom dish was dry and tough. This was our favorite take out for years and the quality is not what it was. The food was not fresh. Tempora very oily.“
