Sushi Bars near West Islip

“I last reviewed Long River 5 years ago. In that time, though, they have upgraded their service and have added a sushi bar that is really phenomenal. The sushi is fresh and the pieces are large. They have a good selection. I have been there 3 times in the last few months and they are getting better each time. It is clean, the service is very professional, prices are fair and the food is very good.“

“Ma and Pop shop that melts my heart when I’m there (2nd time going). They greet you when you come in and are the only employees there (so definitely have patience though their kindness makes up for any time waiting).Each time I’ve been there they’ve given us a complementary “starter” (2 pieces per person of a spicy, on-the-house sushi).Today we went for the lunch combo and that’s been our favorite so far since the price is good for what you get and I love that it comes with a choice of miso or salad (last time we went for dinner and I had their bulgolgi sushi which was amazing but I loved how fresh and filling their lunch special was while also being budget friendly).They even served us free dessert both times; a complementary (and beautifully cut) orange slice and half a mochi each (last time it was the vanilla mochi which I loved as it reminded me of an orange creamsicle with the orange slice but today’s was a matcha mocha that was absolutely delicious).We’ll definitely be back :)Vegetarian options: I had a sweet potato sushi roll that was so good! I also see they have avocado rolls and other rolls that are just surrounded by a single but delish vegetable.Kid-friendliness: There was a mom and her little toddler waiting for takeout; the owners not only gave them the complementary starter while they waited for their order but even a whole mochi to the toddler as she was waiting with her mom. The owners have the biggest hearts! ❤️“

“A friend recommended this restaurant to us to celebrate my dad's birthday. The food and staff were both great. The owner was also there that evening and was super nice, she came out to greet us and to wish for my dad to have a wonderful birthday.“

“I think was absolutely great food but portions are on the smaller side and there is other locations closer for more reasonable price. I spent 80 on sushi and I was still hungry:/ . For that I will be going somewhere else. Not exactly pocket friendly. Cool spot to hang in patchogue “

“Truly the best sushi!!!! Everything about this place is incredible. The service and food are top notch. We searched for a sushi place and never found one we wanted to go back until we came to Mizu. Now we can’t get sushi anywhere else! Get the spicy tuna rice appetizer, you won’t be disappointed!“

“This place seemed very trendy and I was skeptical. But after having quite a few appetizers and my entree and even dessert (something I normally don't have) it all blew everything out of the water. Everything was so flavorful and filling. Even my drink was perfectly balanced and heavenly. I knew the meal would be good, but I never imagined it as good as it was. I understand why the place was completely packed. You just have to go. I enjoyed some other steak places on LI and was very impressed, but Insignia was better than I could have ever imagined.“

“My boyfriend usually gets the Mongolian Beef with rice. Everything is of good portion, CONSISTENT (very important), and unbeatable prices!! The service staff is also very attentive and warm. We’re looking forward to our next visit back… which will be soon!“

“Good, clean, sushi spot in the village of babylon. Came here for dinner on a Saturday, and even though it was crowded, we still got a table rather fast.For an appetizer, we got K-Mac Sliders, which were delicious and probably the best thing of the night.For dinner, we got a chirashi platter, which, was very nice and featured some great fish. They don't list what your getting, which is a little annoying, but the fish was good and fresh.Service was good, and the ambiance is rather basic, but nice.“

“We were looking for somewhere to eat dinner on Christmas Eve and came across Sumou. The rolls tasted fresh and were great quality.Inside was nicely dim and there's two dining areas, one for hibachi which we will be back for!Service was excellent, yelp check-ins even got me a free glass of house wine! The rolls were beautifully made, and came out super fast.Pricing was perfect for a sushi restaurant, $8-$18 a roll and the appetizers were in the same range.“

“I was so hungry, I took a bite before I remembered to take a picture! The last time I was in this area for work I had both dinner and lunch the next day at this restaurant. This time I was considering trying another place a little further away, but since the weather is nasty, I decided to stay close to my hotel, and come here again. The sushi does not disappoint. I started with the colorful role and my own creation of a salmon hand roll with Ikura. It's a great combination, you should try it! I decided I was still hungry, but trying to get a hold of my waiter to order some more food was difficult. Even though it was in the wrong order, I decided I needed a bowl of miso soup. I wish they had Inari sushi, but they didn't so I settled for a piece of tamago just to have something sweet to end with. The restaurant is a little bit noisy, but otherwise comfortable. There is an excellent chance. I will be back for lunch again tomorrow!“

“The sushi rolls here are always good. They have many roll options. This is a pretty much take out only place there is two or so seats in the place but they have many cute decorations, it is the only reason for low atmosphere rating. Food is always out quickly and they are attentive to take out customers.Vegetarian options: Crunchy tofu roll, spicy tofu soup and crunchy tofu app.“

“Awesome food! Awesome drinks! Great service. Best mojitos and I complain about every place that makes my mojitos. They make them perfectly here every time. The wasabi chips are a wonderful surprise. Lovely ambiance. Definitely try the shrimp pops and sushi platter. We have been there several times and everything is delicious. The General Tso's chicken is slightly spicy and juicy. The dim sum sampler is a great introduction to figuring out what you like. The fried rice with bone marrow was definitely something unique to try. If you are looking for a great dining experience you have to try this place out.“

“My wife and I order out sushi all the time. We used to order from somewhere else and were disappointed when that place made their sushi smaller. We found out several places actually started charging more and providing less. A friend recommended A&A and we haven’t looked back. The sushi is fantastic quality and taste and they never skimp on ingredients. For larger orders they have a menu of pre-selected items that is very convenient and cost effective. Definitely worth every penny. I can’t say enough good things. Look no further for sushi.Ps-they have out free sake and $15 gift certificates with orders of $100 or more during the Dec holidays, which was a nice touch.“

“This place is phenomenal. It’s Valentine’s Day (and Ash Wednesday) it’s swamped. I ordered take out and once I get home the bag split and my sushi went all over the floor. I was shattered at this point because I was moments away from have a perfect night with my partner. I called them and without hesitation they remade my order as quickly as possible. “I had a business meeting here with a handful of colleagues from other states. The waitress was amazing, reciting an extensive list of daily specials and remembering everyone's order with the finest detail. I never thought of this place as a prime sushi location, but I was delightfully mistaken! Amazing, fresh cuts of fish. I am very particular about my steaks, though, especially considering this is a well-known steakhouse. I ordered medium rare, but it was pretty significantly overcooked. It was still delicious, and I didn't want to make a big deal of it. But, because of how expensive everything was, I was tempted. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience. I'm just hoping for the correct steak temperature for next time!“

“Seated immediately. Drinks arrived promptly. Had to ask for water refills, then they began to be automatic. Appetizers ordered. Good portions and delicious but a tad too much garlic on the baked clams. Salmon a bit dry. Small portion of ice cream for affogato , I've had larger. Noise level a bit high. Will return.“

“A Large restaurant with a lot of bar, table and hibachi seating. Nicely decorated in a modern style. We had a hibachi dinner that we really enjoyed. The portions were generous and the steak was very tender. Excellent shrimp and lobster tail. We had the tempura banana for dessert. It was a real treat.“

“This place is amazing! The service is beyond expectation, the food was great tasted fresh and the rolls were some of the best I’ve ever had. The sanitation of this place is also very good, it’s nice and clean, the table are always wiped down before a new person comes!!! “Such a wonderful spot in the south Huntington / Melville area. The staff were all so inviting and the restaurant was beautiful and clean.The food was great. Started with the lobster tacos. Really good amount of lobster, good crunch, and the sweet mango sauce was a good combination. For my main, I got the Farmingdale roll. The combo of the spicy yellowtail, and the pepper tuna and pepper salmon worked so well. I really enjoy the peppered fish. The sauces on top weren't overpowering either.This really is a nice spot to go. Great for a casual sit down or even a date night.Parking: Lots of parking.“

“Best hibachi around lately, just be aware they have a lot of birthday parties so the lights will occasionally go dim and they'll start playing birthday music and all that. If you can get past that the food is great, a decent value among hibachi restaurants, and very generous proportions, especially with the fried rice.“

“One of the best tasting, freshest sushi spots I've been to yet.I order out here at least 2 times a month, and I've never been disappointed by ANY of the food. The regular rolls are great, the special rolls are perfect, and the appetizer or small plates are fantastic.One of my absolute favorite rolls was the pepper tuna. Try it, you won't be disappointed.Parking: Small lot at the restaurant and extra night lot across the street.“

“Staff here is very friendly. I got the chicken katsu bento and it was...just ok. Chicken was perfect, but the rice was super mushy. The miso soup was obviously from a ready mix and had those tiny little completely uniform freeze-dried tofu pieces. Ebi Mayo/rock shrimp was better, but tiny portion. Kani salad had more lettuce than crab and didn't have crunchy panko on top. They're also really cheap with the sauces here. Overall it'll satisfy your cravings, but don't expect to be blown away. I honestly feel they're overpriced for the quality served.“

“Take out sushi?? You bet!! I picked out one of the suggested trios for maki lunch. Salmon, tuna, and spider roll is the one I chose. All chunk no scrapings of tuna. big quality chunks of tuna and salmon. I felt the spider roll had a bit too much crunches mixed in. A serving of miso soup (included) was very good. Overall, definitely worth a visit. Just a little reminder-- unless it's called in, you're gonna wait for them to make it (fresh) less than 15 minutes. And as I said earlier it's worth the coin“
