“Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality. It was truly exceptional, and every little detail made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Your warmth, kindness, and generosity meant a lot to us. We had such a great time, and the memories we made will stay with us for a long time. Looking forward to meeting again soon!“

“Terrific General Tso Chicken. The sauce has just a little heat to it and is a little sweet and flavorful. The fried rice has some veggies in it, and has good flavor on its own. The bourbon chicken is also good, basically the same as General Tso but the sauce has no heat and has just a little bourbon tinge. Three wontons in my soup, and it was delicious.“

“Thanks to the staff that worked the night March 26, 2026 I was 2 minutes late to closing but still served me anyway and got me in and out quick and still with a smile. Great experience and great staff not often do places go above and beyond anymore“

“Chanced on this true gem last Friday with my kids. I did not have much expectations but was throughly blown away by the authenticity and quality of the food. I have not had a bowl of Wonton Noodle Soup that good since relocated to the US. Quality is comparable to HK standards. My kids had Pad Thai and Shanghai Cashew Chicken, they all loved their meals. This is truly a hole in the wall kind of restaurant, nothing fancy but pure good food. Thank you for making my day and we will be back real soon.“

“This is our family’s favorite Chinese take out spot in the area. Always consistent, quick, delicious food. Their wonton soup is very good. They have great prices and great service. We have tried many of their dishes and have never been disappointed.“

“The food is Good but where is this place really shines is the young man who answers the phone and works the register he is the kindest friendliest most pleasant person to deal with. Just left from there and he gave my four year-old daughter full-size candy bar that she got to pick and a bottle of water and this is not the first time that he has done that and when my daughter was shy to say thank you he told me not to press her and said that that’s just how kids are and was so kind and understanding. I absolutely recommend this place and not just for their food that young man deserves a raise for sure, and it doesn’t matter who goes into pick up the food. It could be me or my husband and my husband has the same exact experience.“

“This is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in the US. I haven't spent too much time in NYC, so I cannot compare to those, but I spent many years in SF and LA and have not had better than Sichuan Chili.
I no longer live in Cincinnati, unfortunately, but I am in town maybe one week per year and make it a point to visit Sichuan Chili multiple times. I will even freeze it and bring it home to Texas, where the Chinese food by me is mediocre at best.
We have several go-tos (not in any particular order):
Mapo tofu - lots of heat, but great flavor. Big and bold.
Hot pepper chicken - this stir fried dish of jalapenos and chicken is excellent. There are times the head is overwhelming, but it also is loaded with flavor. It is not just a spice bomb.
Hot and sour soup - my kids like all hot and sour soup, but I am yet to find one as good as the one from Sichuan Chili. It is very black peppery, but in a good way. It tastes different than any other hot and sour soup I've eaten.
Chinese style kung pao - this is different than regular kung pao - lots of ginger, different vegetables than the US version. I am a huge fan.
Green beans - these are excellent. Smoky, flavorful. My middle loves szechuan green beans and these are extremely good.
Eggplant in garlic sauce - this isn't necessarily better than most Chinese places, but it's good. They have 2-3 versions of egg plant.
Salt and pepper shrimp - vinegary and tangy. They come skin and tail on, but the deep fry makes them easy to eat whole.
The above are our normal go-tos. We've tried several other things over the years. Some have been hits. Some have been misses. The only thing I've eaten there that was truly bad were the salt and pepper ribs. Hard to describe why, but it was a total fail.
I assume many of the other reviews mention this, but there is an authentic menu and an American menu. We normally eat off the authentic, but the lunch specials are all off the American menu and I've tried a few. Even the American menu food is better than most Chinese restaurants.“

“Grand Oriental Chinese Restaurant— BaldWhiteGuyReviews 🧑🦲🍜 Time flies, kids forget passports, and dads get a rare day off — which I immediately spent doing what any responsible parent would do: drag my son to a new restaurant and then reward him with lunch. 😅 He forgot his passport (top secret co-op stuff, apparently), so we met halfway-ish and let Yelp play help find a new place to try. That’s how we found Grand Oriental — a big, festive palace of American-Chinese comfort food and decorative bravado Grand Oriental 📍4800 Fields Ertel Rd, Cincinnati. Parking & Entrance Parking: angled, on a slight hill, and perfect for anyone who enjoys a little cardio while exiting their car. If you have equilibrium issues, bring a friend or a very dramatic cane. Walk the red carpet like you’re famous (or at least like you once were #Santa in the Christmas Program) and step into a dining room that screams “special occasion” louder than your drunk uncle at a wedding. 🎉✨ #WeSeeYou Decorations Huge space, lots of lanterns, and more faux-oriental flair than a Netflix period drama on a budget. The place looks like someone told Pinterest to go wild and then hired a very enthusiastic intern to execute it. If prom and homecoming had a love child, this would be the reception venue. Very Instagrammable — bring a filter and a dramatic pose. 📸🪩 They even have a golden throne #Seriously. The Wet Live Well They’ve got a big wet live well — yes, an actual aquarium of potential dinner guests. Do I think they fish out a crab and whisper “you’re up” before tossing him into a wok? Some call it fresh; others call it barbaric reality TV for crustaceans. Either way, the seafood looks like it just finished updating its LinkedIn. 🦀🐟😬 #FearFactor Bathroom Report Bathroom: shockingly clean and tastefully decorated. If the restroom is this tidy, you know the kitchen isn’t hiding any skeletons — just maybe a very well-behaved crab. 🚽✨ What We Ate 🍜 * Appetizer: Crab Rangoon — $6.99 Warm, creamy, and dangerously addictive. Came with two mystery sauces: one was sweet (dessert-adjacent and delightful), the other had a wasabi vibe that made my face do a small, respectful salute. I’m still not sure if the second sauce was wasabi or a tiny jar of regret, but it worked. 😋🔥 It was a surprise, no mention of sauces on the menu. (That I could find anyway). * Half-ling’s Meal: Sweet & Sour Chicken with Fried Rice — $11.99 Predictable in the best way. Comfort food for people who like their food to behave itself. The fried rice, however, was quietly excellent — the unsung hero of the table. 🍚👍 * My Choice: Hunan Beef with Fried Rice — $12.99 Hunan Beef is my yardstick. This one had a pleasant kick that made my nose run like it had opinions. Local Hunan still wins my heart #DragonInn, but this one is a solid contender. 🥩🌶️ Total Lunch Damage: $34.46 (waters included, because hydration is free and important) 💸 Final Thoughts (and the part where I pretend to be impartial) The Grand Oriental is a great spot for a special lunch or to impress guests who like their ambiance with a side of theatrical lighting. Staff were friendly and fast — service points for speed and smiles. Food was solid, comforting, and exactly what you expect from a good American-Chinese joint: familiar, warm, and occasionally surprising (looking at you, mystery sauce). #HotHot Final Score: 3 out of 5 Bald Heads 🧑🦲🧑🦲🧑🦲 Why I docked two Bald Heads: * Minus one for predictably (Boring) American-Chinese flavors — tasty, but not revolutionary. * Minus one for price — lunch felt a tad steep. Maybe you’re paying extra for the live well’s real estate and the decorative chandelier that’s clearly on a #FingerHut payment plan. 🧾💡#CheapOldMan Would I go back? Sure — for a special night, a prom afterparty, or if my son forgets something else important. Would I drive across town just for their Hunan? Not this time. 👎 Have you been here? “This place has the best Mapo fried tofu. I'm addicted to this dish! Place is super clean and owner is so nice and cooks everything to order. If busy you will wait a little bit but it's so worth it. My other favorite dish is the tofu and egg plant. We also just recently tried the vegetables and fried rice and it was delicious. If you're vegan or just like some good Oriental food you must give this place a try. 🩷“

“Always have a good selection but thos particular time we went, the food was Very dry and orange chicken was mushy. They have more veggies than meat in the entrees that include veggies. Portion size is getting smaller as the price increases. My family goes here alot. Overall their food us great!“

“I literally LOVE this place. My fave & go to Chinese place. Only reason I gave service 4/5 starts is because the time they close is different everywhere listed!!! Online it says 8, but I think their in-store pamphlet menu says 7:30. I also wish they stayed open later. :(“

“The food was very good here . The price was very reasonable for what I ordered. I ordered the bourbon chicken along with the shrimp fried rice. Everything tasted so good. As a nice gesture they they threw in two crab ragoon and an egg roll for free. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family!“

“Not all Chinese restaurants are the same. And each one has its specialities. This one does a very good job in what they specialize, which is Guangdong/Shanghai style dish. What that means is that their speciality is not Sichuanese. So if you go there, you should order Guangdong/Shanghai food not Sichuanese. They do a phenomenal job with that dish.
You should get:
- Shanghai Style Eggplants
- Moo Goo Gai
- Sizzling Seafood Combination
(Any seafood menu was good from my experience)
These are not the best:
- Mapa Tofu or Double Cooked Pork (they are Sichuanese dish)“

“I took my 2yr old and 7yr old here for lunch and they had a fun time cooking their own food. We got the bento lunch and it was delicious. I recommend the miso broth and spicy chicken. The mushroom broth is very light and tasty too. They keep napkins in a drawer under the front of the table which was very helpful with kids. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My son was fascinated by the robot server. We will definitely be back soon. One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long long time.“

“This is our new favorite Chinese takeout place of all time. I don't say that lightly. The food was excellent, the staff were nice, it was very affordable compared to other places, the portions were very large, and our carryout order was ready in 10 minutes. I got the General Tso chicken with fried rice; my wife got sesame chicken. We got the crab rangoon together. The food was well sealed and very hot when we took it home. The chicken tender on the inside and lightly crispy on the outside. The rice paired well with it. The sauce was really good. The inside of the crab rangoon was creamy and moist, and the outside was crunchy perfection. I was skeptical of this place before I tried it. Now. I just want more of their food.“

“I come here VERY frequently, and every single time I am left satisfied. Their chicken friend rice with yum yum sauce is simply perfect. My FAV however is their chicken curry with onion dish! Soooo good!! Their food is always hot, on time, and freshly cooked!“

“Love the food at this location but the service in the drive-thru is terrible . Greeting someone with “ what would you like “ then after they are finished saying “ pull up” is completely unprofessional. As a manager , these employees would benefit from an additional training in customer service.“

“We have dined at China King in Middletown many times and have always enjoyed it. They have a variety of food, all you can eat for a reasonable price. Service to receive your drinks is quick and friendly. Large parking lot. Vegan choices available, online ordering and take-out available. My favorites there are the Crab Rangoon, Mini Crab cakes, Honey glazed chicken, steamed cabbage, corn balls and Won Ton Soup. They also have desserts and ice cream! The ladies room is always clean but the tile flooring is slippery, so be careful.“
