“We had Old Carolina cater our wedding this last Saturday (2.24.24) at Lake Affect Studios in Cleveland, OH and we cannot thank the staff enough. We opted for a buffet option which worked out so well. We are still getting compliments on how delicious the food was. When we were thinking about food for our wedding, I knew I wanted a barbecue buffet! Once we saw they were on the preferred list of vendors for Lake Affect Studios it was a no brainer and we went with them as our first choice. We used to love eating at Old Carolina when they had a restaurant in Mentor, OH. Kelsey was so helpful in answering all of my questions leading up to wedding day, and assisting with the set up the day before. They did an amazing job keeping everyone fed and the staff was friendly and efficient. They let us take home left over food and we were able to enjoy the barbecue even after our big day. “I’m well aware that I can be hypercritical. When dining in the greater Lexington area, I’m often referred to as “a prick” by family and friends. But I’m not in Kansas anymore. As a connoisseur of the finer things, I immediately shut down the suggestion of ”Wine Bar” as the Michelin Man failed to namedrop this Rocky River Staple. But then I ate there and realized the Michelin Man should get out more !! Where do I begin? The sights, the smells—or perhaps I start with my wonderful server, “Santa” Hanna? To transform wine into grapes may be divine, but to have the dinner I just consumed? Redemption itself. I think my family may have a new nickname for me fairly soon…“

“sliders were great, pickles on them were amazing. brisket smash burger was great. fries were fresh cut and delicious. very good selection of draft beer. good patio atmosphere with mood lighting. cool interior. laid back casual or dress up, all would fit in.“

The second order took forever to arrive at our table and when they did finally arrive they were cold as ice.
This could be because our server was distracted constantly by talking to her coworkers they were all just standing around either talking amongst themselves or playing on their cellphones.“

“I wanted to come in Google to “challenge” some of the recent negative reviews - I’m not sure the story happened the way it is portrayed in the reviews. I was there during the confrontation (I attached my receipt to prove so). But I challenge that all the folks writing the negative reviews were - maybe friends banding together to write bad reviews???
Anyway - we were at the table right next to the part of 8 table - and I was facing the table. The only loud voices I heard were those of the diners. However, I did not realize they were upset - I did hear something about them complaining that they couldn’t split their checks and how it was BS. (I remember thinking that they were very upset for something that was posted on the door when walking into the restaurant - but whatever - some people let little things work them up).
Next thing I knew, the diners left and drove out of the parking lot honking their horns and giving the restaurant the middle finger. ALL ON A SUNDAY MORNING!!!!!
Back to Herb’s itself - all 4 people in our party loved the food - the service was fine, the atmosphere was fine after the hoopla!!! There was a young lady (not our waitress), who was very attentive to the people sitting on the patio - so kudos to her!!“
