We stopped for a late lunch after riding the Flint Hills trail in Council Grove, Kansas. They were getting ready to close but said it would be no problem to service. There were a couple of specials of the day listed but we opted to go with a hamburger and fries. Delicious hamburger on a cheddar and bacon bun and an ample amount of fries were served. The service was excellent and we always enjoy eating in a local diner.
The Saddlerock Cafe is outstanding in many ways. There are drawbacks by that has nothing to do with food. I really enjoyed their chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Our group of four all ordered something different and we really liked it. A main selling point is their homemade bread which you can also buy by the loaf and different kinds. I recommend the cinnamon bread. The drawbacks are minor in many ways. It is a small but popular place so be prepared on a Friday or Saturday...read full review
