“I've never had African cuisine before so I had to try some out. I ordered Pounda Yam with Banga Soup and Eba with Ogbono Soup. Pounda Yam with Banga Soup was the tastiest and my preferred dish out of the two. It contained beef (I think), dried fish with the bones, and collard greens. It also had a subtle floral aroma but I don't know what it came from. Its partnering pounda yam was filling. It had a satisfying, soft texture that was similar to mashed potatoes, but stickier. The Ogbono soup was not my favourite. This soup is known for its slimy texture like cooked okra. If you scooped a spoonful of it, it would be like egg whites and would slide right off the spoon. So if you're not a fan of slimy textures, you should probably skip out on this. In terms of flavour, it tasted strongly of salted dried fish and included meat (pork?). The meat was unfortunately hard to chew. It certainly could have been cooked longer until tender. I will say, though, the yellow Eba was delicious! If you've never had it, it's similar to rice, but softer and more compact. Not quite like glutinous rice though. It even had a hint of citrus flavor which I loved. I liked to eat this with the Banga soup. Overall, it was an interesting experience. I think my palate is just not adjusted to these certain flavours yet. Regardless, I would still like to try more African foods in the future.“
“I wanted to treat my friend to traditional Congolese food; Ma Yve was accommodating with the order, she walked me through the best selling dishes. It was my first time trying this type of food and I got to say it is one of the best meals I have had. The Fumbwa was my favourite and something that stood out from the menu. “Couldn't decide between a zinger burger and the new smokehouse burger so I brought my daughter and we tried both! The smokehouse was truly the best burger I have ever had. Peri fries were great too and the prices are good! The two of us left completely stuffed for less then a person would pay at McDonalds.Dietary restrictions: Everything is halal.Parking: Large parking lot in plaza.“
“The shop owner is very friendly.Food was okay. But he sells all Pakistani & Indian sweet supari & Pan. In Ajax who could've think of it otherwise you'll have to go Mississauga or Toronto for those stuff but thankfully I get it in Ajax!“
