“My friends recommended Ceylonta, a Sri Lankan Halal restaurant, so we decided to try it out. We ordered the Roast Beef, which was the chef's favorite, Masala Dosa, and the Vegetarian Thali. To our delight, we were offered 2 complimentary Chai, which made our evening even better!The restaurant had a fantastic welcoming atmosphere, and the waiters were very helpful. The service was top-notch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We recommend giving Ceylonta a try and we definitely plan on visiting again in the future.“

“I was very excited to see a new vegan restaurant pop up in Ottawa, and I wasn't disappointed with my experience at St. Elsewhere. The atmosphere is casual-chic and the interior is well-decorated. The menu is small but versatile, with creative twists on wholesome plant-based ingredients. In terms of the small plates, I've tried the kale salad (16$) and the blooming onion (14$). The kale salad was good but quite ordinary and lacking in the promised sausage crumbles, while the blooming onion was perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. For the main dish, I highly recommend the gnocchi with sausage and almond ricotta (26$) - the gnocchis are pillowy and soft, the almond ricotta is creamy and tangy, and the kombu sauce is quite unique. I've also had the udon carbonara (26$), which was also delicious but I prefer the gnocchi. The portion sizes are decent; they will leave you satisfied but not overly stuffed. The dishes are a bit on the pricier side but I enjoyed the upscale vegan dining experience, which is hard to come across in Ottawa. Updated from previous review on 2024-02-20“

“A lovely family-run restaurant in a great neighbourhood! We've been here every time we visit Ottawa, and so far every time has been excellent. We've tried a variety of their dumplings and their pad thai, and all of it is delicious. They don't have interior seating, so if there's good weather then you can sit at the tables they put out. A great bonus is that they are also environmentally-friendly - they asked us to bring back the take-out containers if we weren't going to reuse them so they could sanitize and reuse them themselves. We love everything about this place and will definitely be back again!“

“I came here based on all the reviews, and it was a bit of an adventure figuring out where it was, I had to go into the back alley of a back alley to find Oz, but it was well worth it and more.I'm from Toronto, land of the mean Canadians, so having such nice service everywhere I go in Ottawa has been a bit of a shock. That being said, our server Kevin (and another gentleman by the end of the evening, unfortunately didn't get his name) were the best servers I've had this week, both charismatic and informative without being too overbearing.There was a party happening upstairs this evening so we were warned that food service may be a little slow to arrive. Despite the warning, it didn't take too long for food to arrive at all. And the food? It was damn well delicious. Best dinner I've had in my short week in Ottawa, and all the food I've had here has absolutely banged! “We wish we had more reasons to hire Merry Dairy’s ice cream truck after hiring them to serve ice cream at our wedding. The truck added such a fun element to the evening, and guests loved the surprise and opportunity to stretch their legs while grabbing their dessert. Merry Dairy was exceptional and super easy to work with. They were flexible, reliable, and the staff serving ice cream was super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. They had a vegan option, too, which especially our guests with dietary restrictions really appreciated. Their ice cream is delicious! Please do yourselves a favour and eat Merry Dairy ice cream.“

I enjoyed the cake’s moist and deep chocolate flavor. I didnt love the frosting because dairy-free buttercream isn’t my cup of tea (I prefer the flavor from dairy butter and eggs in swiss meringue) but I still enjoyed the cupcakes! “Had a team dinner where 7 of us went and we had a great evening out. Service was excellent and our server was really helpful answering our questions and teaching us how to properly eat some of the dishes. Tables were perfect and allowed all of us to hear and join in the conversation. Drinks were excellent and food was fantastic. There was not 1 dish that we did not like and some were just simply tastier than others but all were excellent. We will definitely be back again.“

It’s a great place to get some work done, as long as it’s not full (which can happen quickly given that it’s rather small). (That’s not something you often read in reviews, but I was stunned by their bathroom, that looks like one found in a luxurious hotel!)“
